Day 22. First autoflowers. Zkittlez. Temp is 26, RH60%. 3 gallon wide fabric pots. Just watered with 2 litres which gave me a tiny bit of run off, it’s there first full watering. Water ph was 6.4 and ppm was 470 which is pushing the limit but they seem to love it. Running two exhale Co2 bags and no vents as it’s winter and need to keep heat in. I think Co2 is plentiful now with the second exhale bag added this week. Plants 1-3 look the same but have a fat leafed phenotype of some sort plant #4. Expecting big stretch this coming week. These girls really picked up the pace the last few days. I pushed my lights too 24 inches and started seeing some canoeing but I think it’s from my ceramic heater blowing to much hot air rising the leaf temps, it’s only on the plant closest to the heater also. So I will back off the heater to higher height and see if it can handle the light like the other 3. There starting to show some preflower as well prob one more week of beg nutes and I’ll flush and start with bloom. Feel free to leave any tips y’all . Thanks for popping till next week.

Grow Questions

SirDilltonstarted grow question 5 years ago
First autoflowers. They are on day 14. I think they look small. Can a super wide pot hinder growth? I have 8 inch deep 16 inch wide 3 gallon pots. Or Co2 levels are low in the tent causing small growth.

I was looking through your Diary and i only see good things. It looks well prepared . Girls looking well too. Its the best to give automatic plants directly into the fina pot. In my opinion they look great for day 21....... The only thing to get much faster plants is to change the genetics.

Do you recommend defoliation on any main fan leaves that are hurting you light penetration and simply cannot be trained in a different place specifically on auto flowers ?

If the leafs are hurting your light penetration I should cut them off. I only cut the leafs on the main stem if I cut my autoflowers. Good luck

Rusty plant is pictures , started off green then slowly turned orange then yellow on fan leaves only, not sure if it was genetics or if it was something I did, still produced good bud. Any ideas of what caused the leaves to get rusty looking them turn completely yellow?

Really love this soil. The ph hovers around 7 from my experience. It’s super forgiving I can telL. I’d love to try a grow with organic nutrients only woth this soil i feel the results would be tremendous. Expensive though 36$ Canadian a bag @Mrs_Larimar, and thanks for the answer on my question I was really worried at first because there’s so much smaller then photo periods at the same age but they’ve seriously turned up the heat the last couple days.. I will look into those genetics as well always looking for improvement lol

Are the photos you posting the beginning of week 2 or the end of week 2. I don't think they look that small either way. Also I'm not sure where you have your CO2 sensor but co2 is heavier than air so I would put the sensor closer lower in your tent. Same with the bags try hanging them lower in the tent. If you are using the fresh exhale 365 where you drop the mycos to innoculate the bags it could take a while before they start producing enough co2. The levels will drop at night then peak a few hours after the lights turn on.

@SirDillton, It could be light intensity. They look big enought to handle A par in the 400 range. They should respond to this increased light with some nice growth. Right now the energy is being put into root growth the top growth will take off in a week or so. If the leaf blades start to fold up like a canoe or taco shape that would be a sign of light stress. Some times the serrated edges will curl up from light stress. I don't think you will have an issue.

End of week two unfortunately. Yup, I have done just that just a couple days ago, lowered both my Co2 bags directly above the level of the plants, I have one XL bag that claims to have at least another month of maximum output and one 365 bag probably half Activated. And going to add a third when it arrives in the mail in a couple days from now. so I’m starting to highly doubt CO2 is my problem, I will def move the pots closer to the middle and lower the lights to 24 which would put me at 400 ish par reading from guess (no meters) that’s maybe what they need for a little spurt of growth, just didn’t wanna burn these autos since I’m running them on a 20-4 which is new to me . The only other thing is these very very wide pots that are only 8 inches deep, maybe the plants spending more time trying to figure out it’s rooting system rather then focusing on the leafs it’s self this early on, either way I should yield something I do expect to see spurt of growth over the next week. From my research they should use the whole 3 gallon medium weather it’s wide or deep. I also may be over watering them slightly in these pots but not by much. I also just dropped Rh to 60-65 and temp is 79 I magine the leafs temp is slightly lower giving me the perfect range in the matter. Oh well it’s all fun lol ... Thanks for checking in @Philindicus,

Thanks@Philindicus, I’m really sketching out about CO2 levels with all my vents off and relying mainly on exhale bags and passive air going in seems like there growth rate is slow but I’m trying to be patient lol No way to tell without a meter I guess. I know autos are a smaller plant to begin with photos. I also went with a very wide 3 gallon pot rather then deep, somewhat of an experiment, I hope that’s not contributing to the slowness. Day 14 pics will be up in 3-4 days so will see how they make out in the next few days and I’ll have some pics up for you to evaluate 😂

I was just checking out your lights online. I would drop your lights down to 24 inches. Try to group your pots closer together torward the center of the tent but with air space between the pots. See if they react with more growth. Adjust the lights to be directy over each set. The specs give a par of 391 at 24 inches. But thats usually directly under the center of the light. With out using a par meter who really know the real Par level over the pots.

Can anyone diagnose the rusty my plant in my pictures? Rust spots all over leaves of one plant only. Still producing bud, I think it’s root rot not enough air getting to the medium , it’s the only pot that’s not elevated off the ground and it’s in the back corner furthest from my fans.

The site messed up my numbering of photos... the wide leaf phenotype is in the back left of the photo with 4 plants.
