It is week 4 and flowering is almost upon us. Pistils are starting to develop around the different flower sites at nearly the same rate. We should have some nice growth and development with all the different flowering sites that are being exposed. Tucking is becoming difficult to do to promote as much growth as possible and let as much light as possible penetrate the canopy. There may be some defoliation at the end of the week. Can't say yet, depends on how bushy she gets.
Day 22 - On the last day of Week 3, the plant broke. I was adjusting a stake and SNAP! The reaction was definitely ๐ฑ! I tried to save her and tape her back up, but she said ๐ to the top going back on. It's okay though because she is not showing any signs of caring that she was unintentionally topped. I'm selecting topping as a technique even though I didn't do it on purpose. If things go really well though I may have to do this on purpose in the future to see if these genetics can handle topping every season. The misses let me know everything would be okay and kept me from panicking. Plants break in nature all the time and keep growing.
Day 25 - We almost have full area coverage over the soil. The laterals are making laterals and becoming main tops themselves. There are a lot of flowering sites that are going to be fighting for dominance during the final stretch. That's good though because that means more medicine. Tucking is becoming rather difficult to promote as many flower sites as possible to develop. They are twisting and fighting each other every chance they get it seems. It's all good though, she'll be getting defoliated during week 5 to help get some more light down there and get all those little sites growing.
We also have a new toy in the tent, a Vivosun 6" 90-degree oscillating fan. I've been wanting to get this to help create some nice airflow across the entire canopy. The only negative thing I have to say so far about the fan is I feel like the power cord could have been longer. Due to the length, I have the fan a little higher than I would have liked, but that is okay. It will serve our purposes nicely, I've already seen the branches dancing since putting it in. This should promote some bigger branches and flowers with all the airflow and movement.
@Denzul, Thank you for your kind words. The name came from the fact my wife complained about me always needing more fans. For the PC's to the apartment, to the grow boxes before we got this tent. I kept trying to get more fans for this or that reason. Then I thought that it would be appropriate for an avatar name.
I'm really glad to see you've taken some improvements to this season, from last season. Not that last season wasn't impressive, but now you kind of know what your limits are for your setup and you've got that dialed in pretty well now! I can see next season already...๐คค Keep up the good work! As always I'll be following along !
@KCChiefers, thank you. I would say that the set up is pretty well dialed in right now. I think I can see next season also, but I don't want to jinx it. I'm thinking about trying some ponytailing next season to see how that changes things. I guess I want to know if I can get some type of cross between the traditional cannabis plant shape and a broccoli crown shape.
She doesn't look bothered one bit! I'll tell you, using your 3 finger technique I've been able to manage a more even canopy. Not as pretty as yours but baby steps ๐
Excited to see what this season brings for you guys!
@KCChiefers, no she doesn't look bothered, which is nice. I'm glad you are having success with the three-finger technique. It's really useful to prep the plants for wires and stakes. Baby steps are right man, I've been working to get where I'm at every season when it comes to LST. This is the best go yet because I keep trying to improve on what I learned from the last go. So as long as you keep at it, thinking about what you liked/worked versus what you didn't, you'll be training like this in no time at all.
@raptor65, thank you for the encouraging words. So far I would say that is has been fun. I have been able to see improvements in my techniques already from the last grow.
@KCChiefers, she is growing nicely. She will start LST soon. Comparison photos are good to show your progress and see what is changing for the better or worse. Even if you don't share them on here, you should do it for yourself.
@NeedsMoreFans, yeah I'll definitely be curious to see how it turns out. Sounds like it's got the same profile as my Bubblegum genetics so we'll see. Everything's looking great so far!
@KCChiefers, going to try some Sweet Seeds Black Jack Auto again. Now that we have a better idea on this set up, we want to improve upon that last grow and see if we can surpass what we are doing now. It's good your profile came back. There is the possibility this will taste great, I was just hoping to smell the sweetness that can come from this strain.
@NeedsMoreFans, the bubblegum that I grew from MSNL didnt really have a strong smell to be honest. I was worried with me trying to figure out nute schedule and all I messed something up.
I may have cut her down early, to where she didn't decline enough to get that overpowering smell. But as soon as I cut those buds I got that sweet fruity smell. I'm smoking on some now (been about 2 1/2 week cure) as I type this out and that sweet fruity taste/smell is finally back. I'll have to keep posted on your cure results to see if us having different breeders changes the outcome more. And likewise, this grow of yours is better than your last. Any ideas on next season, yet?
@KCChiefers, sorry for the late delay man. Life has been super busy. Thank you for the words. She did turn out nice. Much improved over last season that is for sure. I may have figured it out, next season will be another test and learning experience. Going for some more Blackjack from Sweet Seeds, got to beat that 1.58 ounce grow. If we could do 3.2 this time, with what we learned from the 1.58, I'm confident it can be beaten. Make sure to keep an eye out for next season.
Good job. So I am in week 11 from when seed pop.. in week 6 of flowering same auto and breeder as you bubblelious auto Nirvana.. I definitely have a few more weeks so from seed pop to harvest I think 14 weeks.. does your 12 weeks include seedling stage. I am growing complete organic with biobuzz. Tx
@planner1232, thank you. Week 12 does include the seedling stage which is week 1 in all of my diaries. I didn't feel like there was much concern with the length of time it was running. We didn't have a ton of amber trichomes either. I would say between 5% and 10% depending on which part of the flower was being judged. I would say that you are getting close to the end based on length of time, and would suggest finishing her off with straight ph balanced water. I have never used biobuzz so I can't say anything about that product line as it relates to growing. Best of luck to you, and just keep an eye on the trichomes for how you like them. The jeweler's loop or USB microscope is useful, but you can start to see the amber with your naked eyes to kind of judge.
