First run with Blumat Watering System. Still tweaking the watering system and environment. Transplant delayed due to move, and Blow Dream is a couple of weeks behind the rest- but should finish up at the same time as the rest. Dates on labels are dates of seed-in-ground.
Day 7:
- 3 gal fabric pots
- Coco Loco Coco coir w/ perlite
- 4-4-4 organic dry amendments
- worm castings
- gravity fed automated watering system
- R/O water with: organic liquid seaweed, organic CalMag.
- foliar spray (for pest prevention): SLF-100
Day 9:
- compost tea hand-watered to each plant. (microbe innoculant/ stimulating)
Don't need to pH since the pH is naturally at 6.6. Basically at hands-off grow.
Dr. Earth 4-4-4 slow release dry nutrients already in Coco coir back in week 0.
Day 14:
- Reservoir emptied and cleaned.
- 4 gal purified water replaced and mixed with: Organic CalMag, Liquid Seaweed, and SLF-100.
- pH naturally at 6.4.
- 5 of 6 topped.
- foiliar spray with purified water: SLF-100 for pest management.
The Blumats are great! Hardly need to open the tent. Just peer in the window a few times a day to make sure everything is good.
Fan on 24/7. Heater on thermostat to turn on during cold lights off hours. The LED keeps the heat up during lights on. CO2 Exhale Bag hung up high in the center of the tent. Humidifier on humidistat, only turns on when humidity falls below 65%.
Day 16:
- Mainlined 5 of 6 plants. Going for 4 branches each. Blow Dream is still catching up and will get mainlined when bigger.
Day 21:
- emptied, cleaned, and refilled reservoir with 2gal of R/O water and added: 4ml organic CalMag, 10ml SLF-100, 15ml liquid seaweed.
- adjusted all plant wires and defoliated 5/6 plants.
- Alaskan Purple had 1 of 4 branches snap while adjusting wires. Tape added to branch, but not very hopeful.
- Blow Dream got topped for the first time. Going to add plant wires for mainlining in a few days when it's a bit bigger.
Everything is, still, running on autopilot. No issues.
Day 25:
- Alaskan Purple's previously snapped branch lives! Taping worked.
- adjusted all plant wires and defoliated all plants.
- accidentally snapped one of Red Diesel's tops. Taped it back on, but not very hopeful.
- foliar sprayed for pest prevention: SLF-100.
Day 35:
- emptied, cleaned, refilled reservoir with: 2 gal R/O water, liquid seaweed, SLF-100.
- defoliated and readjusted all plants.
- accidentally snapped off part of two opposite branches on Expert Haze while readjusting wires. I'm f**king terrible.
Besides my clumsiness and butter fingers everything is running smoothly, and continues to be on autopilot.
Day 42:
- emptied, cleaned, refilled reservoir: r/o water, liquid seaweed, SLF-100, CalMag.
- defoliated and readjusted everyone.
- foliar spray for pest prevention: SLF-100, neem oil, r/o water.
- refilled humidifier with r/o water.
- top dressed with 2-12-8 organic dry amendments and worm castings each at 2 T / gal.
- compost tea to help activate the dry amendments
- new yellow sticky traps.
Still a hands off grow (thanks for Blumat Watering System). Only need to open the tent twice a week.
Day 1 Flower:
- Reservoir: emptied, clean, and refilled with 4 gal of r/o water.
- light defoliating
- adjusted light height
- adjusted light schedule to 12/12.
- foliar spray for pest management: r/o water, Neem oil, SLF-100.
Was in a hurry and didn't take individual plant pics post defoliation. Everything still running on autopilot. Only need to open the tent once a week.
Day 7 flower:
- 6gal reservoir: emptied, cleaned, refilled with purified water. Filled with: seaweed, slf-100, CalMag. All organic. (Added more water now since they're drinking more).
- light defoliation on all plants but white widow.
- compost tea given to all
- pest-prevention foliar spray: neem oil, slf-100, purified water.
- light adjustment
- fan adjustment
NOTE:
- White Widow wasn't looking too hot. Troubleshooted that out. The water line to it was blocked. Cleaned and adjusted it. Works now. If it wasn't for the time limit another two weeks of veg would've allowed it to catch up to the rest, but this isn't the Marines. White Widow is getting left behind if it doesn't catch up on it's own during flower.
- Blumats watering system still allowing for a hand-off approach where tent is only checked on a weekly basis. Even with the water clog on white widow this is great. Still learning how to improve and work with it so it's worth the money.
Day 11/ flower (needed to do an early check due to scheduling):
- 6 gal reservoir: emptied, cleaned, refilled with purified water. Added liquid seaweed, CalMag, slf-100. All organic.
- very light defoliation.
- compost tea hand watered to all.
- foliar spray (pest management): slf-100, neem oil, purified water.
NOTES:
- White Widow's previous water line issue stunted her growth. She should still provide a decent amount. Keeping an eye on it.
- last picture shows pistols from Blow Dream. So far she seems to be doing the best and quickest growth. Even with starting from seed behind everyone else she's very impressive.
Day 21 flower:
- 8 gal reservoir: emptied, cleaned, refilled with purified water. Added liquid seaweed, CalMag, slf-100. All organic. (Added 2gal since they nearly finished the last reservoir. Had <4 cups left.)
- heavy defoliation to all except Blow Dream.
- compost tea hand watered to all.
- foliar spray (pest management): slf-100, neem oil, purified water.
- ladybugs unleashed on thrips issue (downside is that there'll probably be some dead ladies to shake off of the flower later)
- removed yellow sticky traps so ladybugs don't get stuck on them while they work.
- Nematodes hand watered in.
- adjusted light height.
- adjusted inline fan with carbon filter for smell reduction.
NOTES:
- White Widow's previous water line issue stunted her growth. She's still keeping up pace with everyone. Placed her on a three inch step so she's closer to the light since she's shorter.
- Starting to smell a little.
- Blow Dream was cruising through the whole grow, but didn't take too well to nearly running out of water in the reservoir the last two days. She wilted quite a bit. Added two extra gallons to reservoir. She's already perky less than 24 hours later.
- last picture is of Red Diesel with a Ladybug looking for thrips to eat.
Day 28 Flowering:
- 9 gal reservoir emptied, cleaned, filled with purified water. (added more water since they're drinking more.)
- all defoliated.
- compost tea hand watered to all.
- Blumats watering system filter cleaned out.
- tent cleaned.
- trellis net added (should've done it before flowering)
Notes:
- all plants doing well.
- they're starting to get sticky, Red Diesel most of all.
- ladybugs doing their job and eating all the thrips and fungus gnats. Went with Ladybugs because they're safe during all cycles of life.
Day 35 Flowering:
- 9 gal reservoir emptied, cleaned, filled with purified water. (added more water since they're drinking more.)
- all defoliated.
- compost tea hand watered to all.
- tent cleaned.
Notes:
- instead of the usual additives in the reservoir, Sledgehammer by Fox Farms (organic) was added. It's a yucca extract that helps the plants better uptake what's already in the medium. Think of it as a juice cleanse for them.
- they're starting to get a sweet fruity smell to them. Haven't really checked on who, yet.
- all plants doing well.
- they're starting to get sticky, Red Diesel most of all.
- ladybugs doing their job and eating all the thrips and fungus gnats. Went with Ladybugs because they're safe during all cycles of life.
Day 42 Flower:
- 9gal water reservoir emptied, cleaned, and refilled with purified water.
- Compost tea to all.
- light defoliating
- light height adjustment
NOTES:
- Plants doing ok. Expert Haze and Blow Dream are having some CalMag issues, so the reservoir is just water with SLF-100 and CalMag to help.
- ladybugs doing their work.
Day 49 Flower:
- emptied, cleaned, refilled 9 gal reservoir with purified water.
- light tent cleaning
- compost tea
Notes:
- everyone doing fine, but keeping all on CalMag and SLF-100 to keep up the improvement.
- ladybugs still working.
Day 56 Flower:
- emptied, cleaned, refilled 9 gal reservoir with purified water.
- light defoliating. (Super sticky!)
- light tent cleaning
- compost tea
Notes:
- Shishkaberry and White Widow looking like they'll be the first two to come down in a few weeks.
- tent has a carbon filter that scrubs the air really well, but can still smell the sweetness coming from the girls.
- everyone doing fine, but keeping all on CalMag and SLF-100 to keep up the improvement from previous calmag deficiency.
- ladybugs still working.
Day 63 Flower:
- emptied, cleaned, refilled 9 gal reservoir with purified water.
- light tent cleaning
- compost tea
Notes:
- nothing new
- Shishkaberry and White Widow looking like they'll be the first two to come down in a few weeks.
- tent has a carbon filter that scrubs the air really well, but can still smell the sweetness coming from the girls.
- everyone doing fine, but keeping all on CalMag and SLF-100 to keep up the improvement from previous calmag deficiency.
- ladybugs still working.
Day 70 Flower:
- 9 gal reservoir emptied, cleaned, refilled with purified water.
- adjusted water lines
- compost tea to all
- tricomes: 5% amber. Aiming for 25-30% amber.
Notes:
- main inlet from reservoir to line was clogged for a few days and medium dried out a bit. Blow Dream reacted the worst to it (as seen on pics). Blumat carrots were rehydrated and readjusted in pots. Fingers crossed that Blow Dream bounces back. She very likely will.
- looking for my microscopic camera to take tricome pictures
Day 77 Flower:
- 9 gal reservoir emptied, cleaned, refilled with purified water.
- tricomes: 20% amber. Aiming for 25-30% amber.
Notes:
- Shishkaberry and White Widow got harvested. They're now drying. The rest will be coming down next week.
- Blow Dream recently had a clog in the water line that dried her out. She's bouncing back just fine. We'll see how she is next week.
- after discussing with others, the water line clogs have been figured out. They would only occur when I'd overdo it with SLF-100. It would dislodged any gunk in the lines and clog the outlets. SLF-100 was just doing what it was suppose to. I just added too much a couple of times.
@kaneownz, strongly consider an automated inline fan to help and a carbon filter. Tap water can be real harsh. Consider buying a purification filter that filters out chlorine at least. Even a kitchen water filter may be better than tap water if you can't buy a gardening water filter or RO system.
@DCC_S, I plan to just vent into the rest of my apartment as its that small and out the window is not an option. Do you have any tips for growing with tap water? Im in a city and dont have access to RO water to my knowledge.
@kaneownz, you can vent it outside but consider the odor and potential for bugs to get inside. Get creative and be practical. It all depends on your set-up.
@Harmar, luckily it's only two of the six that are experiencing that issue. Though, Blow Dream seems to be building long thick buds even with the issue. We'll see how things turn out soon.
@DCC_S, as block progress, the growth of both up and breadth sharply slows down. This is due to the earlier maturation of stigma and, as a result, the presence of small buds.😔
