12/19 - germination. - peat pot
Seedling phase. 1 -15 watt Walmart grow light + 2 - 14 watt 6700 k aquarium lights. Will transplant in a few days and move to the grow tent.
Setup:
Vivosun 4x4x6.5 grow tent.
3 x 300w LED full spectrum lights at 32 inches.
2 external fans and 1 - 6 inch exhaust fan.
Garage grow with no heating or air. I run the lights from 7 pm to 1 pm to compensate for the colder temps.
My last grow we had a cold snap (for this part of the country) - lower 20F at night. This light schedule kept the
tent around 75 with the lights on and 65 off.
12/29 - Day 10 transplant.
Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil amended with Wildroot organic mycorrhizal fungi. About 1 scoop per gallon of soil. I'll also add a scoop to the first water along with FF Big Bloom at somewhere less than 1/4 strength.
1/1/20
FF BB - 2 tsp. per gallon 1/4 strength
FF GB - 1 tsp. per gallon 1/4 strength
This is my 6th grow. All have been "successful" - some more so than others. Still don't know what the hell I'm doing half the time...
I would appreciate all comments and suggestions.
1/4/20 - Day 16
She seemed a bit sluggish at first but I think she's getting motivated now. I upped the nutes a fraction - then spent two days fretting of course.
I love growing, been one of the most rewarding and fun things I've ever done but I spend most of my time terrified to do something or doing something and being terrified I did it. 😬😀
Glad I found this site. You guys are helping me get over my worrying and trust my instincts. A ton of good real world info. Happy growing everybody!
1/7/ 20 - Day 23
Topped her this morning. Will start bending when the nodes stretch. Will start foliar spraying with Big Bloom.
I was having trouble keeping the daytime temps above 70. Southeastern winters are a crap shoot. I positioned a space heater outside the tent pointed in the general direction of a fan intake. After a lot of trial and error I've got it holding steady at 77. Of course it's wreaking havoc with my humidity, which was too low to begin with, but Amazon to the rescue. I've got an inkbird dual stage controller, humidifier and a dehumidifier on the way. Should've pulled the trigger sooner in the veg stage but better late than never.
1/8/20 - Day 24
Just hooked up my Inkbird controller and set to 55 +- 5. I have high hopes but I'll let you know. I've added some additional nutes - Kelp Me Kelp You and Sensi Cal-Mag Xtra at 1/2 and 1/4 strength respectively. I've never used these before so I've got my fingers crossed.
1/9/20 - Day 25
First Bend.
Inkbird is working like a charm - still can't get the humidity over 35. The space heater must be drying the air out too much. I may have to move her indoors - my wife will be overjoyed...
1/10/20 - Day 26
The weather has warmed up yesterday and today so without the space heater running the Inkbird has the humidity holding steady at 45. The weather will cool back down this weekend so I'll be back to square one. I'm considering getting a small oil filled radiator and an Inkbird temp controller to replace the forced air space heater.
She's responding well to the topping and the bending.
1/18 - Day 30
I'm waiting for the lights to come on to feed so I may adjust the nutes before I do the feeding today. I want to add some more Big Bloom and Tiger Bloom but I have to work my courage up.
She's growing like a compactor holly or something and I'm having a little trouble finding good places to bend. There's a number of growing tips. I'm going to try to spread her out a little bit as soon as I find the keys to this couch...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I upped the BB to 3 tsp and added .5 tsp (1/4 strength) of Tiger Bloom. I'll go to half strength on TB next time.
1/26 Day 38
Adding 2 new nutes tonight - FF Beastie Bloomz and FF Kangaroots at half strength. First time using them so here goes...
After I see how she responds to the new nutes I'll do some defoliation.
1/28 Day 40
Took off about 5 fan leaves on 1/26. She's doing fine. I'll do some more tomorrow.
2/2 Day 45 - Same feeding schedule as last time without the Microbe Brew.
@Greengirl420 shamed me into doing some defoliation. 😀 I did quite a bit but it could stand some more.
Day 50 - She's doing well and looking healthy. Continuing the same feeding schedule.
I wish I had removed some of the smaller bud sites earlier but I think it's too late to do anything about it now.
2/12 -Day 55
Calling this week 9 a day early so I can document the new feeding schedule. I stopped the FF Grow Big and added FF Cha Ching.
Fox Farm Big Bloom - 1.5 tsp/gal
Fox Farm Tiger Bloom - 2 tsp/gal
Fox Farm Cha Ching - .25 tsp/gal
Molasses - 2 tsp/gal
She's continuing to do well. With all the rain and warm temps I've been able to keep the grow tent environment in the range I'm shooting for. This weekend we'll be dropping back down into the 20s so the struggle continues.
2/17 - Day 60
Ph'ed water. Getting close now.
2/21- Day 67
I think she's got about a week, give or take. The trichomes are clouding up, buds are getting fat and the smell is wonderful. Nothing but water from here on out.
This was my 7th grow but my first with GrowDiaries. I now consider GD to be the best tool in my grow kit. The growers are a wealth of information and they gave me the confidence to trust my instincts and my plant to tell me the right thing to do. It also shows me how much there is to learn and how much more I could be getting out of my plants. This was the first grow that I feel I got the most out of the Fox Farm nutes. Plus, it made it a lot more fun. 👍😎👍
The grow was, amazingly, issue free. The grow took longer than I expected at 12 full weeks. In fact, due to a family emergency I had to harvest her a few days before I thought she was fully ready. I'll come back in a week or so to fill in the particulars. (At least I assume I can come back and edit this to add weight, taste etc.)
Mar. 18th
Well she's dried and in her curing jar. If you add back in the test buds she came to about 2.5 ounces which seems to be about average for this strain. The buzz is strong but not overwhelming. It's relaxing, which is what I was hoping for. I'm very happy with how the grow went - kudos and a big thanks to GD and all the great growers. Can't wait to start my next diary as soon as I get off my lazy butt and get the grow tent ready. 👍😎👍
Thinking about all my virtual friends during this trying time. Stay safe.
