New year, new grow. The Gorilla will be grown together with two other plants in separate diaries. Tent size is 60x120 cm² and I'm using five Sanlight S2W with each 62 Watt (from wall), so I'm calculating 0.24 m² and 103 Watt per plant. Germination started on 27.12.2019 and she broke ground on New Year's Day. Everything is fine so far.

Gorilla is growing fine. She is the slowest one and I was surprised how tiny the seeds were. Nothing exciting to report, just added the second light for the crowd.

Gorilla looks healthy, but is growing very, very slowly. Maybe I overwatered her or my expectations are too high as I keep comparing her to HiJack. I'm very interested how things will turn out. In my last grow the smallest plant ended up with the second biggest yield, so I might get surprised again.

Gorilla is growing slow, steady and strong. It is looking absolutely healthy, leaves have perfect colour. Not very much branching so far, but she is growing insanely huge leaves. I'm so curious how she is going to turn out. Not sure she will stay so small; it almost looks like she is gathering power for the stretch. Currently three lights are on, absolutely sufficient at this stage.

The Gorilla still is very slow but looking perfectly healthy. Not much branching, instead it is growing ridiculously huge leaves. I even removed four of the biggest fan leaves that were covering almost the whole plant. In general I do not like removing the solar panels, but in this case it was needed. With the tent being quite crowded again, it might turn out good that they could finish at significantly different times.

The lazy Gorilla is still doing nothing but slowly growing some leaves. Almost no visible growth at all. I did some research and found out that this is common behaviour for this strain: It takes very long to start flowering, some people even reported it is a photoperiod, so she is waiting for the days to become shorter. Not sure what I will do with her. I'm not eager to extend this grow by two months for one single plant. So for now I will continue, but if the others need more space, I might kill the Gorilla.

The lazy Gorilla still does not want to start flowering. But at least it grew visibly in the last week, many secondary side branches, albeit still very small. But she is looking perfectly healthy and meanwhile I have convinced myself that it is actually good that they are of different sizes because the tent is becoming very crowded again. She swapped places with the young Zkittlez in order to optimally use the available space. Again I had to remove some leaves. Two of them were of monstrous size and had 11 fingers!

Well, the lazy Gorilla. Meanwhile I'm convinced she is not an autoflower. Still nothing to see. Growth still is quite ridiculous, today I inspected the inner of the plant and side branches are absolutely tiny. I reduced light hours to 18 hours in a humble attempt to kick her into flower. Of course this is still way too long for a photoperiod, but I was hoping the reduction itself could make the difference and I do not want to reduce light hours even more because of the other plants. At least apart of that she is looking perfectly healthy. I will let her sit in her corner and grow her out once the autos are done.

Lazy Gorilla is still sleeping in her corner. I wonder what she is doing all day long. Slowly growing leaves, but looking perfectly happy. I will reduce light hours to 16 hours per day and will compensate the autos by letting them go some days longer.

Gorilla still does not want to flower. However I see signs of preflower and it seems she started the stretch. While I do not really like removing leaves, I performed a slight defoliation. Even I could see that there are way too many leaves. I can hardly notice the difference, so I'm confident I did not remove too many. Now I really hope that flower starts. There is no chance she can double her size anymore. Many 11-fingered leaves, looking quite impressive. I do not want to reduce light hours even further because of the other two autos.

I'm still waiting for her to start flower. She seems to be in some strange intermediate state: Not really vegetation any longer, but also not in flower. She is growing white hairs that almost look like the beginning of a bud, but some day later she realizes there is still too much light and the hairs turn green and into yet another set of leaves. Also the stretch looks like a minor flower stretch, so I still hope she will fit into my tent. I have about 35cm of headroom left. There is only one auto in the tent, so over the course of the next week I will reduce light hours so we will be at 12/12 next friday. By then the Zkittlez will be 9 weeks old and I will simply let her go for some more weeks. The gorilla is looking as healthy as it can be. Absolutely robust plant, she never complains and leaves are looking just perfect. I needed to once again remove some huge ones that were covering almost the whole plant.

I reduced lighting by one hour every other day, so we are at 12/12 now. I think she really will start to flower now. But I'm writing this every week... 😐 I'm kind of gambling with regards to the available height. To me it looks as she did already perform most of her stretch during preflower, but with my limited experience this is just gut feeling. At least she is growing only moderately and I still have almost 30cm left. We will see if this will be enough for the main cola. This is certainly the strongest plant I've grown so far. Even the side branches are looking bigger than most main colas I had so far. And the leaves are just perfect. Not the slightest sign of excess or deficiency. I'm very excited about the next week...

Finally! The Gorilla is awake. Flowers are appearing everywhere. She has stretched only very moderately over the last week, so I'm quite relieved that I won't run into problems with her height. She is very slow, so I expect about two months of flower now. Perfectly healthy and looking very attractive.

She has entered full flower mode; her slowness is completely gone, buds are developing at an amazing speed. If the colas deliver what they are promising, this can get really crazy. I assume the soil is more or less completely deployed meanwhile, so I increased Big-Grow somewhat. She can take it, leaves are looking simply perfect.

Buds are swelling, she seems to feel really well. I removed some leaves and was not careful enough, so I cut a medium sized bud from the main cola 😪 Apart from that, everything is going perfectly. My only complaint is that she has been sitting in a corner of the tent for too long, so she could not really spread and the secondary branches are way too close to each other. So I decided to use all the lights to better provide light to the inner parts of the lady. Thanks for looking and stay healthy!

Buds are already maturing significantly although it is only the fourth week of flower. Seems she does have some Ruderalis and is not completely photoperiodic. I hope the buds will still swell a bit, but she is looking very healthy. It is a shame she did not have enough space to spread. I'm so excited and curious about the finish...

She is looking almost ready, but I do not have any experience with photoperiodics so I will let her go at least one additional week. Six weeks of flower sounds a little short to me. I hope the buds will fill up a bit more. Funnily the smell of the plant is quite moderate, she also does not feel very sticky so far. I have to confess that I'm getting impatient 😊

She was ready so she was harvested on day 127. The bud structure is interesting: They have not filled all the gaps, but they are dense like hell. Just for fun I weighed the biggest side branch and the main and they showed an impressive 88g and 67g respectively. So I'm confident the end result might be more than 100g total. Also she is the weakest smelling plant I grew so far. Final numbers and report in about two weeks.

I do not really know how to rate this strain. It is advertised as auto, but if you look for diaries of this strain you will see that for many people it will not flower or need extremely long time. So I think @autoseeds has some homework to do. As flower did not start automagically, it spent way too long time in preflower which resulted in a too short flower period. I'm sure if grown correctly, she could have yielded more than double the amount. Smell and taste are not really pleasant for me. It is not exactly bad, it just doesn't match my personal taste. But hey, de gustibus non est disputandum. It is very herby with hints of sour, mint and cat piss 😊 I'm sure some people will enjoy it, but if you prefer a sweet or skunky taste, this one is not for you. The effect is ok, above average, but not as good as Shiva Skunk or HiJack. I definitely want to grow this strain again, but I think I will treat it as photoperiod from the beginning next time. I definitely love her robustness. She never complained about anything and caused no other issues.

The outcome is quite ok, but I can get the same with autos in about half the time. Very sticky, I even collected some scissor hash, but did not yet try it. I collected the trim, sugar leaves and popcorn buds (there were millions of them) for cannabis butter and made some cookies. After trying one of them I thought for the first time in many years "too much!". It almost knocked me out. I will take a break now as I have a lot of medicine and lots of different strains to choose from. The weed from my first grow has been curing for almost a year now and is simply perfect meanwhile. I'm curious how the Gorilla will be in some months. Thanks for following and stay healthy! New year, new grow 😇

Buddha2
Buddha2commented5 years ago
@Mrs_Larimar, yes, from her general appearance she looks more or less ready to me. I always have a hard times checking trichomes, but I think most are cloudy and only a few ones are still clear. I did not spot any amber. I will wait for some more days, but I do not think she will fill up much more. It is a shame she was not treated the way she would have deserved; I should have switched to 12/12 two weeks earlier. But I do not want to complain, in the end it is the quality that matters. Maybe she surprises me like the miserable Zkittlez that also had only very tiny buds but incredible quality.

@Mrs_Larimar, yes, I also think there are preflowers. But I do think so since almost a week, but almost nothing is happening. Hi Buddha, quick question here in regards to this: "To me it looks as she did already perform most of her stretch during preflower" I think this happened to me too, I vegged officially for 10 weeks (with a photoperiod though) but unofficially due to light leaks, she vegged for 12 weeks. So once she was in flower, there wasn't the biggest stretch happen, maybe she grew 10cm? What do you think as of now? Thanks 🍃
Buddha2
Buddha2commented5 years ago
@starke, right now we all have a lot of time caring for our plants 😉
starke
starkecommented5 years ago
@Buddha2, Good to know, under different circumstances, I would've liked for her to veg less, but glad I learned something. The other thing with vegging too long is, that the initially planned pot size won't be big enough. My plant has consumed all of her soil by now which makes me water more often.
Buddha2
Buddha2commented5 years ago
@starke, yes, exactly the same here. After she finally started flower, she only grew a few centimeters. Almost all of the stretch apparently had already happened. I'm so happy because I could not have handled her doubling in height 😉

WTF... Those Pictures showing the trichomes is awsome... happy harvest to you....Maybe you turn to Photoperiods now=?
Buddha2
Buddha2commented5 years ago
@Mrs_Larimar, yes, the trichomes are looking spectacular. Somehow compensates for the quite small buds. Maybe the number of trichomes is always the same, but due to the bud size the density is higher. Then it should be really strong stuff 😁 I think I will try it on Wednesday, currently it is still curing. I yielded 110g which is quite good, but I can have the same amount with autos in about half the time. So we will see how it is. I also still have quite some auto seeds I want to grow, so currently there is no need to do a decision. But I have the feeling that photoperiods are more robust. This Gorilla never complained, almost no leave tips have turned brown, whereas with my autos this was the default...

Hey Buddha, congrats on the Harvest. She looks beautiful, what do you think, was it worth the time? Wonder how she would have developed if she had have more space🤔.. anyway, hope you're happy with the outcome of your photoperiodic auto..😜 Have a good one Buddha✌️✌️

Buddha2commented5 years ago
@@OimRausch, I did not yet smoke it, so I do not know whether it was worth the time. But yes, she would have needed more space and I should have sent her to flower about two weeks earlier. What really surprises me is the almost total lack of smell. Even now that she is drying, there is almost nothing. In one week I will know more.

AAAAh here we talk, Iam guessing for 2 weeks more, what is your estamination=?
Buddha2
Buddha2commented5 years ago
@Mrs_Larimar, I'm guessing the same! The buds are lighter and more open than I like, but I think this is due to the overlong vegetation period. It seems when she started the stretch, the clock began to tick, because flowers only grew for a bit more than two weeks and then already started to mature. But I certainly will grow photoperiodics again in the future. They are slower but seem to be so much more robust.
