Started 5 ILGM Amnesia Haze Feminized in rapid rooters. The plan is to take the 4 strongest and transplant them into 4 5-gallon DWC buckets. I've got an 18W/794 GPH air pump feeding one air stone per bucket. I also have a smaller 243 gph/6 watt pump for backup. I figured out 1/1 deionized/tap water gives me a base ppm of 100. I'm planning on starting the reservoirs at 125 PPM/6.0 PH and see what happens from there. UPDATE: OK, so only one of the seeds popped so this is going to be a one plant grow of amnesia haze and I'll do another journal for my Big Bud replacements.

She finally seems to have gotten over mourning her sisters and is starting to take off. She's working on her third node as we start week 3 so I may be mainlining at the end of the week when she hits 6 or maybe early next week.

I started seeing some brown spots on older leaves right after the last res change. I was hoping it was because the previous res was too weak at 1/4 strength, so I upped to 1/3rd and watched the new growth. No indications of spotting. This week we're starting at 1/2 strength but I switched over to GH nutrients

Things are cruising right along. She really likes the GH nutes, and the reservoir is much cleaner and easier to see into than the murky Fox Farm nutes. The FF won't got to waste, though, I've got Pineapple Express Auto and Grizzly Kush seedlings growing for an outdoor grow.

She's really bushing out! I've been trying to avoid defoliating as much as possible until just before the switch so I've just been tucking. She went from 640 ppm to 506 in 4 days, so I'm going to go full strength for her next res change here in a couple of days.

She's still growing like crazy and loves the full strenth nutes. She's also starting to smell :-). I reckon I'll switch to 12/12 Friday when her 8th week starts to make it easier to keep track of :-)

Wow! She is really stretching nicely and the smell is coming on. It's hard to keep myself from continuing to shape and trim her every day to make her perfect but I know as long as things are going well I should do the bare minimum. Should be a little over two months before I see how this DWC experiment turned out

Holy cow! This lady's stretch has been amazing. I've been going in every other day and defoil'ing 10% to keep the bud sites clear and the next day even more and bigger leaves are back. She's also drinking almost an hour a day. I think this will be my last dedicated defoliation session, as I'm afraid I may have taken too much.

The stretch is obviously over as she's gone from drinking almost a gallon of water/day to more like a third. I'm curious as to how long to keep defoiliating? Most guides I've read say stop after two weeks into flowering, but I've still got leaves popping out overnight shading bud sites.

She was blowing up alongside one of the Big Buds she's sharing the tent with and suddenly she slowed waaay down and got overtaken by her sisters. Nothing seems wrong so I'm assuming AH just doesn't reach as much as BB. Unless maybe I defoliated too much? I cut the BB's just as much with no ill effects. Who knows.

I swear to god this plant stretched a good 6-8 inches and then shrank. She's tiny compared to the two big buds she's sharing a tent with. But I don't see any indication that anything's actually wrong with her so imma let her be.

Getting close to the end, I think. The pistils are starting to turn brown, but the buds aren't as fat as I hoped they'd get. Hopefully they'll fill out quickly

Just letting her go. She's still at least 2 weeks away from harvest, if her buds are to be believed. She's not drinking as much as she used to be, I'm hoping that means it's fattening time

Hey there, congrats on this beautiful harvest! I'm a new grower who is still learning. I was interested in knowing your feeding/watering schedule. For example do you feed one day then water the second day then feed again the day after then water, etc. or how often do you do that a week? im currently on a f/f/f/w/f/f/f/w..etc schedule so feed daily but i only use 2-4 cups. then repeat the same cycle again after i water with calmag Looking forward to hearing from you! thanks

@ash93, OK, so here's how I learned how to measure PPM. The number itself isn't really important, it's how the number changes over time. So what I do is first thing I measure the PPM of my water to see what the baseline is. I use 2 parts distilled/1 part tap. That gives me a baseline of 100ish ppm. Then I add whatever nutrients the manufacturer recommends for that week. If it's a young plant, I'll start with 1/4, then 1/2, etc. But the point is I'm not trying to reach a specific PPM, I'm just putting in what the manufacturer recommends. Then I measure the whole thing. Say for example it comes to 1100. So I know that 100 of that is my water, so 1000 is nutes. OK, so I change the reservoir. Now I measure every day. If the water level goes down and ppm stays the same, then the plant is using the nutes efficiently and things are good. If the ppm goes down with the water level, the plant needs more nutes the next res change. If the ppm goes up as the water level decreases, then there are too many nutes for the plant to absorb so you need to change res quickly. So I measure the PPM the same time every day, both before and after I add PH'd water (distilled in my case), before so I can see how well the plant is absorbing nutrients and after so I can set a new baseline for the next day. Make sense? Also, unless I have some problem, I'm not going to change the res more than once a week. I will add distilled water every day, but as long as the initial nute load is correct, 7-10 days between res changes has been the norm

ash93commented5 years ago
@fumble1130, Thanks so much for the Tip. Do you mind sharing some details about that because im starting to see some nute burn. For example. what was your ppm and nute mix amounts every week.
fumble1130
fumble1130commented5 years ago
@ash93, Good questions! Well, I'm doing Deep Water Culture hydroponics, so I only "feed" when I do reservoir changes, every 7-10 days. I do add distilled water every day. When I grew in soil, I would water every other day and feed once a week. I did more than that and ended up with pretty severe nute burn the second I switched to flower so make you sure start slow with them
Buddie
Buddiecommentedweek 125 years ago
How are plants handling the nutes? I’m using dwc also.
Buddie
Buddiecommented5 years ago
@fumble1130, I upped nutes this week, not quite as high as you but I’ll give them a few days and see how it goes. Great looking plants you have!
fumble1130
fumble1130commented5 years ago
@Buddie, I started getting some browning on the very tips around Wk 4 when I went from 1/2 to full strength, so I backed off for a couple of weeks. Other than that there have been zero issues. My base of 2 gallons distilled/1 gallon tap gives me around 100 ppm so it's easy to go from there and track. I'm using GH plus some supplements at full strength now and the res is good for about a week. I'm also giving her between 1/3-2/3 gallons of distilled water/day. She looks good to me but as this is my first DWC grow I don't really have a feel for it yet.
the end.
