After trimming the top buds at the end of last week and getting them water curing, I continued to grow the plant. I cut the MaxiBloom in half and kept everything else the same. The remaining buds actually packed on nicely with the tops removed! It let them get more light and they fattened up. After several days they were no longer producing new calyxes, at least not noticeably anyway. So I took everything but the bottom 25% of the plant! I left all the buds on the bottom too. Got it in the bucket for water curing as well.
My wife actually helped trim this time, and she seemed to really enjoy it :) It was a nice way to spend a few hours together. <3
I'm now currently working on re-vegging the plants! If plant B survives, then I'll get more bud when they flower again -- if it doesn't survive, then no worries. I want to take clones from plant A, which is the one in the back, which looks quite healthy and I'm expecting good results there! Next grow, I'll do two clones of plant A, which is an amazing phenotype. I may even get some colloidal silver and make some seeds outside this summer/fall :) I was wondering how plant B would react as it was quite yellow, but it seems to be turning green again. The girls are obviously stressed, I can see it in the way they hold their leaves -- but they're taking it quite well! I dosed them heavy with MaxiGro (high nitrogen) for the first two days in an attempt to shock them out of the flowering phase, which caused some mildly burnt leaf tips here and there... Then I flushed them for a day and now I'm just adding 1/8 tsp of MaxiGro and 1/4 tsp of CaliMagic per gallon.
The water curing will be done Sunday evening and at that time all the buds will have between 6 and 8 days of curing. I'll have to pull the re-vegging plants out and put them on my desk, so that I can put the drying rack in darkness in the tent. I'll dry the water cured buds and all the trim, which is currently in the freezer, over 24 to 30 hours... then I'll process it all and post an actual "harvest week" once it's all done! :)
Going to make some lazy-man's hash and some gummies out of the kief. I'll be using Greenmachine's gummy recipe from his Bucket of Cookies diary :)
You are the 8 ball kush master! They look perfect. I would say let it run late and harvest at the same time. It looks like this round has the potential to get fatter buds.
@Wicked_Stix, thanks! The clones are lookin nice too, over in their own diary now :P Both clones of plant A, I want the phenotype. May follow your method for making seeds toward the end of summer! Can you do the colloidal silver thing with clones?
@Wicked_Stix, I made them without cannabis, and they tasted great! Shared with the kids and they loved them too. But man, the minute you add cannabis, they taste like total shit. I can't even bring myself to eat them as they make me want to barf and then the after taste lingers :/ so I put them in the deep freeze and am saving them for when I don't have anything else.
@Wicked_Stix thanks,it blows my mind that I can grow them under an LED desk lamp that consumes 13 watts (for the equivalent of a 40 watt incandescent output). LOL. I can tell they are ready to explode in growth though as soon as they go into the tent -- it'll be like 2 weeks in the tent and they will be filled out / ready to flower :P
