Took a batch of clones this afternoon. This run I've got some grandaddy confidential, girl scout cookies, zombie death fuck, Cinderella 99 and matanuska tundra.....I know it says thunder in the listing, they didnt have this one there. My understanding is that thunder is just the updated line of tundra, both also go by the more common name of Alaskan thunder fuck in the states. I like to take big clones, and then I let them sit in the ez-clone for an couple weeks or sometimes even longer. I let them get some huge roots before I plant in dirt. They actually will grow in the machine, most triple in size before they come out of the clone machine. There's a run of clones behind that came out earlier this week, and a couple bagger plants that will be flowered eventually. I'll add pics every few days to show how the roots develop.
It's been a couple weeks now. I've added 2 gallons of water over that time for evaporation. The ladies are all standing tall and starting to grow. They all have visible roots....some are much better than others. Still gonna let them go at least another week to get those roots all super developed. Isn't this plant just amazing!?!
Some of these have really nice looking roots happening. I like to have the side little whisker looking roots.....then I know I've done a good job and the plants are going to live once I drop them in soil. You really only need it to have just tiny bumps on the main stem.....those bumps are the start of the roots growing. But I've found that those plants never get as established as the ones you let go until there's roots as long as your forearm on there. You get those roots first and then drop it in dirt and you'll have a main stem as thick as a broom handle when you finally go to chop.
You know how the jar of rooting gel says to not get it places you dont want it to....that's why. I should be able to wipe it off this particular plant, but I've had them in the past where that part of the stem down the road leads to a catastrophic failure. Gotta be careful. Another reason I always take at least 4 cuttings. Then I pick the best 2 of those to go in dirt. Then the best one of those is the new mother. The other either gets flowered or axed. It's a rough life.
Had to add a couple more gallons of water for evaporation. other than that these ladies are done. I have at least 2 of each that are looking real nice, save for the girl scout cookies, they dont have as developed root structures as the rest of them do. Not sure I'm gonna keep them anyways so I'll just take one for now......those matanuska tundra in the front went crazy!!! They are huge in both stature and root structure. Sometimes I'll even let them go longer and get even longer roots, but I have some seeds if a few new strains I just popped and need some more room so these ladies are getting planted today.
4-1-20- found an old tent I havent used for a couple years when I was cleaning a bit. If I flip it on its side it's just big enough for the clone machine and a couple tiny lights I have laying around. Also happened to have some led replacement bulbs for them too. If you havent upgraded your t5 fluorescent lights to the led upgrade bulbs yet, you really should. They might cost a bit more up front, but they last at least 5 years, the light output is significantly brighter and you can get them with uv and ir lights built right into the same tube. No more having to dedicate a whole slot to just uv light or what not. The blue spots on 2 of my bulbs are uv bulb spots. Makes a huge difference in your plants. Also helps with pest and disease deterrence. Figured I could Keep free space in the veg tent and I can use equipment I already have on hand. Seems like a win win to me. Only time will tell. Next batch of clones should be ready for the knife in a week or two. We'll find out then if it will work.
Just to show that if when you take your clones you cut near a node, but leave that node intact and it will almost just replace the missing branch. Here's 2 of the 4, the other two are on the backside, I can see they're the same, just cant get a good picture. This grandaddy confidential just finished her 10 stretch and I consider her flowering as of today. Those little branches probably stretched 3 to 6 inches apiece. And they will fill out the bottom canopy nicely. I like the xmas tree structure of a natural grow when possible. Another reason to take a bunch of clones, makes the plant you took clones off of grow really vigorously for a week or so afterwards. I like to take the clones, drip her into her new large 7 gallon pot and immediately put her into flower. Retards the stretch a couple days as she grows roots, and then she explodes with amazing growth which Carries over into flowering as you can just watch the calyxes build up each day
So that tiny tent was just too tiny. It would get too hot and scorch the poor little ones. Set up a taller tent for the clones. They seem to be responding much better. The tiny tent was also heating up the water in the cloner, which was making roots die off, that also seems to have corrected itself with the new tent. The diesel kush had the roughest go of it.. This round I've got some super sweet tooth, bubblegum and skunk #1 all from msnl seeds. There's also some diesel kush and a few chronic lights all rooting this go around.
next round of clones today. Doing a bigger run than normal, need to free up space for all the seedlings that are growing and will be getting bigger soon. Should be a fun run!
took a bunch of clones of new genetics in my lineups.....this time around is
Trainwreck
Skywalker og
Black cherry punch
Super sweet tooth
Mothertongue
Chronic lights
Raspberry cough
Zombie haze
The sweet tooth and the lights are strains I e had for a while, but all the rest are new. Very exciting.
Its been almost 3 weeks and these girls are ready for some dirt! I've got another batch ready to go into the clone machine so I'll add another week with those ladies. Some new strains in that batch for me as well so it's just a great way to spend the first day of summer!
This run I've got a few new ladies I'm trying out. Always exciting. For this run il be doing:
Diesel
AMS Xtreme
Tuna god
Golden tiger x Panama 1
Golden tiger x Panama 2
Girl scout cookies
Cinderella 99
Zombie death fuck
Grandaddy Confidential
Black DOG
Kinda makes my mouth water just reading it!
Its been almost 3 weeks since these cuttings were placed into the ezclone.....they look phenomenal 😍. Yeah there's some burnt leaves, but they're all in the back and we're caused by some huge roots in front of them ocking their water spray. When you let them go as long as i do, you can run into that problem. I might buy another pump and just put a small straight tube on top with a few sprayes on it that I can use as a troubleshooting device. Place it where its needed when I need it kinda thing. Ah well.....in a couple more days it'll be the weekend and I can plant all these ladies. And then take some.more cuttings and start it all over again with a new batch!. I have some more new genetivs that need to be cloned including some original haze! Super exciting!
New batch going. This time have some liberty haze, skywalker, raspberry cough, black cherry punch and fire it up. The skywalket came from a reveg after some mistakes were made and I lost the clones I had of her. But I really liked it and didn't want to lose her, so I revealed a flowered plant I had going.
Another round of ladies went in today. Chronic lights, jack herrer, boderliner xtreme, cindy 99 and ams xtreme all cloned for this run. I also had to replace both the air pump and the water pump. Cleaned all the nozzles and the sprayer tubing. Also cleaned all the pucks, they are pretty well reached at this point so I ordered a new page of them for the next run. Both pumps were the "better" versions of the ones I had before. The million air pump now has a dial so you can adjust how much air it puts into the water. The water pump was setup for a pond, all I had to do was switch the front filter. Old have taken the 4 screws out and turned the front piece 90 degrees so it would lay a little lower, but it works just fine this way too. I'd lift the cover and take a picture to show how well its working, but thats a 20 minute cleanup job I dont wanna do right now.
Update on the new pumps....they work well, however the new pond pump runs a little warmer which really seems to help and encourage the root growth. Bad side, the heats makes it use up water quicker. I've had to add a gallon twice already, and im.gonna add my third one after I finish writing this. So, all said it helps with faster rooting it seems like, but you need to watch your reservoir, cause it uses that faster too. But every strain in there has at least one clone with roots showing after 8 days....if you clone multiple strains, you know what a big deal that statement is.
Got some nice new pucks to replace my old dirty grungy ones. I'm sure I'll wreck these in short order as well lol. Clients today are the golden tiger x Panama which are some of my new favorites, a black D.O.G. and a tuna god. Happy growing everyone!
Big run this time....9 out of the 10 strains I have running. Only the Café racer missed out. She didn't look so well. Gonna repot and let her veg for a bit and recover. AMS xtreme, Grandaddy confidential, black dog, Warlock, zombie haze, black cherry punch, liberty haze and the two golden tiger x Panama.
