3/30:
I soaked 2 of these seeds for about 24 hours in a humic acid, kelp, bacto, endoboost concoction and planted them into rapid rooters with a sprinkle of endoboost.
4/2:
Both seeds have sprouted!
4/4:
Mis-labeled my rooters...actually none of them sprouted...
I soaked 2 more beans,
4/6:
Planted the soaked seeds into rooters.
4/9:
Still nothing popping???
I stuck two more of these seeds directly into the soil in 3 gallon pots and wet them down. Maybe??
4/12:
Finally, the two that I planted straight into pots sprouted within a few hours of one another! I guess they are just purely old-school genetics that expect no fancy techniques. Now I've got too many plants in the space, so it will be a competition to see which 2 plants don't make the cut and end up outdoors to finish.
4/13 - 4/20:
One of them is a slow-growing mutant, and the other one is just slow-growing.😒
I fed them twice this week in total, once with full-strength nutes, and applied foliar nutes on several occasions.
Based on my horrible germination rate with these and the AK's, and perfect rate on seeds from other breeders, it seems like maybe these seeds weren't very fresh. Maybe they'll catch hold and do something impressive soon.
4/21:
They are both growing, but you could use a micrometer to gauge their progress...😑
4/22:
The bigger one looks like she is about to die from a calcium deficiency?? Really?? Already??😒
I watered them today and used 5ml of cal-mag and 1ml of boomerang per gallon, and increased the Ph to 6.2...hopefully that turns things around...
The little one is such a mutated little runt..she gets further behind every day, but she is, technically, still growing...
I foliar fed them with big bloom and fulvic acid again today.
4/23:
I did a foliar application of BoomBoom Spray this morning...if this doesn't kick-start these bitches, not sure what will...
4/26:
The mutant continues to baffle me...and the bigger one is soooooo slow growing!
In the photo where you also see the StarCandy plants, understand that those seeds were planted almost 2 weeks AFTER the Dutch Autos!!!
4/27:
I'm really disappointed with this strain. I had such high hopes for it. If I do manage to get one of them to finish well, I'll be amazed. I'm actually considering pulling the plug on the mutant...
4/29:
I think the bigger one is actually starting to grow a little bit faster now! And, the mutant's lower branch (her only branch) is growing as well!
I've seen variegation on cannabis before, but never that looked like the bigger of these Dutch Autos...looks more like the beginning of a deficiency, but she's getting everything she needs.
5/1:
I gave them some water with cal-mag, boomerang, humic acid, and liquid kelp.
5/2:
I sprayed them with boomboom spray this morning, and I'll spray them with Axiom before they go to sleep this evening.
5/4:
They may be way behind the rest of the plants, but it's starting to look like they'll actually do something good...
They'll start flowering any day now, so I went ahead and top-dressed their pots with a tablespoon of happy frog cavern culture. I was feeding my outdoor veg plants anyway, so and watered them a little bit with endoboost, humic acid, cal-mag, boomerang, molasses, and kelp.
5/5:
I'm seeing calcium deficiencies on almost all my plants, so I suspect that my cal-mag has expired and lost it's efficacy??
5/6:
I watered them today with a bunch of cal-mag(new bottle), silica, humic acid, big bloom, and boomerang, then I foliar fed with some grow big, big bloom, fulvic acid, silica, cal-mag and tiger bloom.
5/7:
I foliar fed with big bloom, grow big, silica, fulvic acid, and molasses.
5/8:
I did a foliar application of Axiom harpin proteins.
I realized later today that the timer for my UVB light had gotten into the always-on position...pretty sure that's the cause of my ugly foliage...damnit, scorched...😖
I've dimmed my lights a little bit and turned off the UVB for now...
5/9:
I did a foliar application of boom boom spray and gave them a little water with cal-mag, silica, and big bloom.
5/10:
UVB damage isn't too bad on these two plants...whew!😓
The bigger one is bushing up nicely now and grew another couple of inches. If her apex will stretch a tiny bit more, I'll tie it down and force some competition among her lowers.
The mutant is finally starting to look like a cannabis plant and grew several inches this week!!! Because she never had an apical shoot and only sprouted a single branch from below, I didn't think she'd do much, but essentially, she topped herself and doubled..pretty cool. She actually started popping pistils today..before her much bushier/healthier sister??
I'll water and spray them with a little aloe vera juice and yucca tomorrow-
That's it for week 5-
5/11 - 5/17:
I did a little training on both of them. The mutant is actually flowering quicker than her big sister, but the bigger girl has(is) a nice little bush. Should make a dozen nice colas.
I watered her them really well at the start of the week with endoboost, humic acid, silica, cal-mag, molasses, and big bloom...and a little bit of boomerang and grow big.
I foliar fed with boom boom spray one day, and a solution of fulvic acid, cal-mag, big bloom, sweet & sticky, and silica a few days in a row.
I fed them on the 16th.
5/18:
I'm really glad I gave the mutant a chance...she's actually gonna produce a couple of ounces, I think. The bigger one isn't stretching very much either, but shell produce at least double what the mutant produces.
5/25:
Both plants still look pretty good. The bigger one branched out really well. I'll do some training on her tomorrow.
5/26 - 5/31:
I fed them a light dose early in the week, then fed them heavily on the 31st with beastie bloomz and other flowering nutes.
The bigger one is showing some signs of an Mg deficiency, so I increased cal-mag. The mutant is putting on some size, but her big sister is much more impressive. She actually looks very much like the Northern Lights I have growing in the same garden.
That's it for week 8-
6/1:
I raised the lights a couple of inches and adjusted the UVB timer for an additional half-hour of exposure on the plants that are finishing, so I moved these plants out to the edges.
6/2:
Dehumidifier is working hard and pulling a couple gallons out of the air a day...around 55-60% RH. I've got all fans on highest setting and pumping the a/c into the closet about 16 hours a day, keeping the temp around 68f. It's only 83f for about 4 hours per day, and about 65f for the four hours of night.
6/4:
I fed them really well today.
6/6:
I harvested 10 of the plants in the garden today, so now they have room to stretch out a little.
I foliar fed them today.
6/7:
They are probably about 10 days from finished now.
That's it for week 9-
6/8:
Took a couple photos and re-positioned them. They each have their own QB now, and I have an additional 60w of cool white LED (6500k) hitting them from the side. They'll be ready for a drink tomorrow I think.
6/8:
I had one of these seeds left and decided to see how it would do outdoors.
She popped right up and has remained the fastest growing and largest plant in the garden!
7/2:
I moved her outdoors after almost a month under 24/0 and sprayed her with Boom Boom spray.
7/4 - 7/9:
Been dealing with a horde of ravenous grasshoppers all week, but only a little damage on this girl. I sprayed with pyrethrins, Bt-k, Spinosad, pyrethrins, dusted with diatomaceous earth and sevin dust...
She's flowering now, so after a few days of that, I sprayed with microlife maximum blooms.
I harvested them on 6/28 and washed them and hung them to dry until 7/4, which is when I weighed and jarred them.
Normal plant: 64g
Mutated runt: 48g
Neither plant has much aroma at this point, so I'll cure it for a few weeks before trying it.
8/12:
Smoked some and got a good buzz, but it didn't have a knockout punch, and never developed much aroma or flavors. Tastes a little bit
Pressed some with my rosin press and it was very honey colored and tasty, but didn't produce much.
I've got one more growing outdoors that should be finished in another week or so. Hopefully that one has some stank on her.
