Hey everyone, thanks for stopping by for yet another week of my grow diary.
I did a major defoliation of my plant to try and help with light penetration and help with the relative humidity levels in my tent they’re sitting roughly between 68% above my canopy and 80% in my canopy. It could be a faulty hygrometer that’s providing the huge difference in readings, but if I am to work under the assumption that the actual RH is somewhere in the middle there, it’s still way to high than I’d like. I’ve bought a small dehumidifier to address the issue as I really don’t see any other option at the point. Ultimately I’m not to upset about the extra investment as I’m sure it’ll come in handy during the drying process.
As for the ladies themselves they look fantastic. Buds are fattening up and the pistils are beginning to turn a bright fiery orange. Unfortunately I’m seeing bananas on one of the plants.
For those of you who don’t know, a banana (or nanner) is a pollen producing organ that can sometimes develop on female plants when they flower. It’s not uncommon to happen to plants that are left to flower to long, as it’s basically a plants biological response to the end of its seasonal life cycle, and it tries to self pollinate in an attempt to preserve its own genetics through seedlings.
It can happen also due to high stress being introduced to the plant, whether that be light leaks, pests, defoliating to late into flower, heat stress, etc. In my case I think it’s a case of stress the defoliating I did the couple of days prior, in addition to the light stress that occurred when it grew into the LED over night must’ve stressed the plant out a bit to cause the bananas to form.
I don’t know how quick they can form but 24-48 hrs seems reasonable enough. I gave the whole plant a good look over and really only saw 2 of them. I clipped them out of the bud and ate them (yes, I’m not monkeying around here, I ate the bananas to dispose of them) and will continue to watch the plant to ensure I don’t see any more forming up if, or more likely when it gets outta control and I feel pollination is inevitable, I’ll harvest the plant. Given it’s really only flowered for 4 weeks or so now, it’s a bit too soon at this point.
All in all the buds look fantastic. I am very happy with the tolerance and resilience of these genetics but the early nanners are making me worry. Both plants have nice hues of colour.
Good luck everyone and happy growing.
Do you guys think my plant will recover with the main stem break? Details are in the journal but basically it completely snapped, was hanging by a thread of fibre. I used some allow and ducting tap that came with my exhaust.
I've done this to a couple plants over the years and more often then not the plant recovers. If you got that tape one there and the two pieces of stem tight together it should heal in a week or two. Keep tape on there for a while tho!!! If the top that broke off is wilting and leaves feel limp and soft likely it's been damaged too much
You've done it like someone who has follow a step by step method and you've done it right. I can't see any things wrong in your LST , maybe you could use LST + topping to build a bushier shape ans increase the secondaries growth while keeping the a flat cannopy.
the leaves falling down are not a good sign but just leave it and let it do its thing it took my plant a couple weeks to heal up and recover fully dont get impatient and take the tape off just let it do its thing it if it dies it dies but give it a shot anyway man
@KenSpliffeyJr,
Looks like it yes. I have just recently gone through this with a glookies strain. I didn’t notice it hermied until too late. Wasted a lot of time for a subpar harvest, could’ve ruined the other plants as well. Me being stubborn thought it could be worth it to grow it out. So far wishing I had destroyed her. Lots of work cleaning after pollen, it will never be a happy plant. Just my 2 cents. Keep it realz.

@@Resin_Randy, thanks man! Be sure to check back in a few weeks to see if I have harvested. I have some genetics on the way I’m intending to use on my next grow from 420 fast buds as well. Upcoming strains are Purple Lemonade, Orange Sherbet, and Wedding Cheescake.
Thanks for the support and happy growing!
@Tendy, thanks man! Appreciate the feed back. And any time always happy to help out a fellow grower if and when I can. Cheers and I’ll follow along with your grow
@KenSpliffeyJr, I love @sweetseeds they have been very cool with me. I can buy seeds all day but it’s nice to have someone throw ya some freebies ✌️🌱✌️ I have my last set in for the summer. Crystal Candy, Green Poison and Red Poison all by Sweetseeds 👀
@Growgirl1114, 🙏 thank you so much, and thanks for taking the time to check it out! Will be starting another grow soon With some different genetics, I have about 9 different strains at the moment to choose from so I just need to settle on what’s going in the pots next. Most likely will be running Wedding Cheesecake by 420 Fastbuds and Dark devil by Sweet Seeds
