Glookies from Barney’s Farm
Intended Guidelines:
Mainline to 8 colas in “Cap’n Style” hydroponic rockwool grow. Start seed using paper towel method, transplant to 1.5” rockwool cube and place under Root Farm 45W grow light, hand watering. Next transplant to 3” Grodan block and place in 18”x15” grow cabinet. Currently has Viparspectra VT300, but will change to HLG 65 V2. Next transplant to 5” nursery pot with Grodan croutons. Final transplant to GeoPot 2 gal Squat Pot and place under Spider Farmer SF-2000 with the Cap’n Style automatic fertigation system. Updated grow room data will be updated in the following format:
1 Week Glookies
Humidity Dome, 78F 90%+rh
400ppm
5.8pH
1mL Protekt, 250ppm CaliMagic, 475ppm total
Root Farm LED light 10”
2 full sets of leaves, light green, slightly purple stem, 1.5” tall, roots showing from bottom of starter cube. Fertigated daily.
Any suggestions or questions are more than welcome
4 Weeks Glookies
78F, 50%RH. 1.6VPD
475ppm
5.8pH
1mL Protekt, 250ppm CaliMagic, 475ppm total
Grow cabinet, 155PPF, Viparspectra VT300
Transplanted to 5” nursery pot in rockwool croutons covered in hydroton to prevent algae. Grew to 7 nodes, approx 5” tall. Topped to 3rd node and removed the remainder for mainlining. 1 day recovery. 1st attempt at cloning with topped material. Young, but worth a shot. LST’d and buried the stem to 1.5” tall. Fertigated every other day
5 Weeks Glookies
78F, 50%RH, 1.6VPD
575ppm, +100ppm from last week
5.7pH
1mL Protekt, 300ppm CaliMagic (+50ppm), 575ppm total
Grow cabinet, 375PPFD, HLG 65W V2
Light measurements will now be measured as Lux by Korona app mentioned in week 1, then converted using HLG’s Lux/PPFD converter for 4000k spectrum
Procedure for 8-cola manifold
1. Grow 5-7 nodes, top to 3rd node, remove 1st and 2nd node vegetation
2. Let side branches grow out 4 nodes each
3. Top side branches to 3rd node
4. Remove 2nd node vegetation, so only 1st and 3rd node vegetation remain. This allows for 8 colas with only 2 toppings. Also referred to as Nebula’s Manifold method referenced on growweedeasy.com
5. Train 8 colas symmetrically outward for even light coverage and air circulation
After last week’s transplant from 3” block to 5” nursery pot, numerous roots were coming out of pot bottom after 4 days. Steps 2, 3 and 4 of manifold procedure performed. Increased Viparspectra to 300PPFD for 4 days. Upgraded to HLG 65W V2 in grow cabinet, measured at 375PPFD. Fertigated every other day. First neem oil foliar application
6 Weeks Glookies
79F, 60%RH, 1.3VPD
725ppm (+150ppm from last week)
6.1pH
1mL Protekt, 300ppm CaliMagic, 725ppm
Transplanted to 2gal Geo Pot SquatPot in rockwool croutons/cubes covered in approx 3/4” Hydroton to prevent algae. Moved to large grow tent, placed on top of Brute 14 gal reservoir and under Spider Farmer SF-2000. Automated fertigation system. Watering it 1hr after lights on and 2 hrs before lights off. Added small 8” training ring. Developed what I believe to be a Magnesium deficiency, even after upping CaliMagic last week. Rather than adding more, I upped the pH to 6.1. Recovered from most signs of Mg deficiency in 2 days. Trimmed 1st set of lower nodes away from each main cola. I have found the Korona light measuring app to be unreliable and will not be using it from here on out. Will be providing light-to-plant hanging height.
5/8 7 Weeks Glookies
76F, 60%RH, 1.2VPD
750ppm (+25ppm)
6.1pH
300ppm CaliMagic, 750ppm total
Removed next 2 nodes of lower vegetation from each branch. Reservoir temps were getting excessive under larger light, around 80F. Placed reservoir inside of 2nd identical reservoir to create air insulation layer. Came down to 76F after 24hrs. Then added 2 air stones and temps came down to 74F. Raised light to 30” and temps came down to 72F. Will consider coating reservoir lid with reflective material like white Flex Seal or aluminum foil for next grow if the issue arises again.
8 Weeks Glookies
76F, 55%RH, 1.3VPD
875ppm (+125ppm, raised steadily over 1 week)
6.0pH
300ppm CaliMagic, 875ppm total
Rockwool substrate achieving approx 75% dry back between fertigations. Changed from (2)2gph drippers to 6” Hydro Halo drip ring and added 3rd cycle. 5 min fertigations now occur 1hr after lights on, mid-day and 2hrs before lights off. Unknown GPM, but runoff occurs 90 sec after fertigations starts and recirculates for 3.5 more minutes. Reservoir temp high remained around 73F, so ended up coating the lid with matte white vinyl wrap spray paint to reflect a bit more heat. 24hr high for reservoir solution was 71F after painting lid. Now within comfortable temperature range. No additional reservoir management practices should be needed. Picture from inside tent is from live webcam. The black 20 gal top-off reservoir is in the back left, 6L humidifier is back center, ground circulating fan is back right and hygrometer on the lid next to the plant. Using AC Infinity 6” Inline fan with environmental thresholds programmed, but can check environmental conditions with camera remotely. Lines going in to reservoir via net cup opening are: (2)1/4” black air lines going to med air stones, power cord to water pump, pH/temp/EC probes to BlueLabs Guardian Monitor.

Tried letting pH drift down to 5.7, but started seeing light signs of Magnesium deficiency again. Same issue experienced in the first few weeks. This strain appears to prefer a higher than average hydro pH range. Brought back to 6.0 and issue resolved quickly. Defoliated next 2 lower nodes. Accidentally broke the last 3” of one main while training. Switched to 12/12 light cycle near end of week. Transition nutrient ratio of 2/2/2. Watering 2hrs after lights on, 2hrs before lights off and once in the middle of the night. 2nd foliar spray treatment, Lost Coast Plant Therapy.

Pruned suckers from lower 1/3 to 1/2, but let most fan leaves remain. Removed 5 large fan leaves that were blocking promising tops. RH is now maintaining 52% without humidifier. Will not defoliate unless RH needs dictate it or fan leaves inhibit other growth. Stretched 5” after first week of 12/12 light transition. Transition nutrient ratio of 2/2/3. Light pre-flowers, but confirmed female. 3rd foliar spray treatment, Lost Coast Plant Therapy.
11 Weeks Glookies

300ppm CaliMagic, 1050ppm total
Stretched 11” since 12/12 transition. Removed a few lower branches that seemed like they would be too weak to support buds in later stages. I try to prevent use of yo-yo’s, but will if needed. Removed small axillary buds, or the “new growth,” from underside that would later result in larfy buds. Due to stretch, lights reached 14” height. Very light evidence of light burn. A few tips of the tallest leaves started to bleach. Raised back to 18”.

PPM kept drifting up as water level dropped, so slightly lowered PPM. Early in the week, pruned all lower branches that had not reached 50% of plant’s current height. Removal dropped RH 5%. By the end of the week and after a bit more stretch, RH returned to 50%. Counted 34 significantly flowering tops. Only 2” of stretch this week. Was experiencing significant dry-back. Changed watering schedule to fertigate 1hr after lights on, mid-daytime, 1hr before lights off, mid-nighttime.

Lots of trichomes building on buds and extending to fan leaves. Excited to see how much more can be produced considering it’s only 4 weeks in to flower.
Removed next layer of lower fan leaves and a couple branches that never did better than popcorn buds. Still have more to remove to get RH to 45%, but trying to limit stress. Will wait 4 days or so before more defoliation. Started adding 1/4 strength Flower Fuel additive. Plan on using for about 3 weeks. Have not used PK bloom boosters before, so going light. Gained 3” more in height from tallest 3 colas.

Smell getting much stronger. Very heavy trichome density. Starting to reduce CaliMagic. Last week Recharge beneficial bacteria will be used. Pruned a few more lower leaves. Very slight increase in tip burn on leaves, reduced 50ppm again. According to other journals, I have found several Glookies runs at 1300+ ppm in mid flower, but it appears this one can’t handle as much as some others have experienced.
15 Weeks Glookies

150ppm CaliMagic, 850ppm
Needed to use several yo-yo’s. Had hoped to trim lower branches so it wasn’t needed, but many of the outer third colas couldn’t support themselves. Buds aren’t that big, but very dense. While trimming some buds for close-up, I noticed there was much more resin than previous GG#4 grows I’ve done. Some trichomes starting to cloud up, but still mostly clear. Hopefully 2 weeks or so left. Smell still increasing.

Many more buds maturing now that the yo-go’s have brought them closer to the light. No plant maintenance needed. Dropped another 100ppm. Dried and sampled one bud from last week. Incredibly head stony and strong, but not couch locked. Very smooth, especially for having dried quickly and not cured.
17 Weeks Glookies

No plant maintenance needed. Lowered PPM another 200ppm for a gradual flush. Will give it another week than predicted and plan to harvest next week. Dropped temperature a couple degrees for last week.
Very head stony, hits the face first. Like in a slight daze. A bit more conversation, no couch-lock. Loss of sense of time, double vision when too far gone
@Shockolateman08,
Ah, gotcha. I typically grow to 6 nodes in veg. Then top to the 3rd node, remove 1st and 2nd node vegetation and start manifolding it from there. It can be unnerving removing so much at once and starts off a little slow because of so much HST, but the control and yields make up for it later on down the road. Pre-load the first month of the veg with heavy training in the beginning and it’s smooth cruising after you achieve the shape you want with little maintenance the rest of the grow. Finish most, if not all, pruning before switching to flowering light cycle. Defoliate lightly in flower to control RH. I do note defoliate heavily. All those extra fan leaves act as nutrient reserves and extra solar cells even if they’re not getting max light. I follow this guide almost exactly https://www.growweedeasy.com/manifold
@RogueOne, no...just found seeds and started...I grew about 15 yrs ago but nothing to the extreme of techniques. Manifold training. Where and when do I start?
@Shockolateman08,
Are you talking about the hydroponic system or the manifold training method? I highly recommend using this system. It’s my first time using it as well. I have grown in soil and DWC before. I expect to use this method and system from now on. Much faster veg growth than soil and significantly more stable reservoir pH than DWC. Very simple system. I only added air stones for temperature control. You might not even need those. Lots of air for the roots with rockwool croutons. With limited space, I’d recommend a short, wide approx 15 gal tote and a short pot to maximize height available. I am using a short 2 gallon pot with 4 fertigations per day so I have more height available. Very stable reservoir temps with this volume of water. For faster root growth, it is recommended to allow proper dry back of rockwool. I got away with hand watering every couple days the first month or so before automating to prevent overwatering. Pay attention to your plant and learn how much it drinks before coming up with an automation schedule. Since space is limited, LST wide and low and switch to 12/12 when plant is approx 1/2 your final desired height (assuming you’ve picked and indoor tailored strain that grows short and bushy, usually advertised as indica) based on total height available and proper light distance.
