Grow Questions

The stems on those big leaves seem kind of weak and in general as the grow out they seem to be drooping a bit like they can’t support the weight well. Does this look like a problem and if so any thoughts? I do have a couple of fans in the tent providing some circulation.

Hi @Fordprefect42 normally this only happens when the growth of the stalk is slower than the growth of the leaf, but with the right ventilation it ends up holding the leaves well. it seems to me that everything is fine with the plant and I don't think it will cause you any problems. good luck mate 👍

Seeing chlorosis on the fan leaves and it’s accelerating, and the tip burn is getting worse despite easing off the ec to 1. The tip burn is alI over the plant.mI check the ec daily and finally got it in balance yesterday so that it was the same as the prior day. K deficiency?

if you just got it to an equillibrium you want again, give it a second to react to the new context. You have a thick canopy -- not a bad thing.. but, the plant may shed a few leaves occasionally. tips burned all over, but the chlorosis is minimal an dlower in canopy? K deficiency would have spots on the leaves with more advanced chlorosis. could be a p-tox, but again, would see spots at some point due to locking out Ca and Mg (their symptoms would be false, since it is readily available S tox has burnt tips but won't show chlorosis... so, i'd review labels of what you've been feeding and eliminate the 2 least likely possibilities.. or stick to a mild solution for a bit. I didn't do this math and didnt verify, but hte person he did would have been correctd by know in most cases. rounding to integer: N - 106 P - 92 K - 210 Ca - 95 S - 63 leaveing out the trace stuff... So, i doubt it is sulfur unless new growth yellows and older leaves viens yellow fro margins out. as i go back in diary, i see you used different concentrations / ratios.. so, the info i gave may not be relevant onthe ppms... you'll need to work that stuff out before you add or change anythign drastically... it'll be more certain that what you do is going to be helpful.

I have grown that strain a few times, it looks like it is stacking up on itself, allso if it were mine i would prune it a bit, it's very thick a light prune will improve airflow and get those branches into the light, im not telling you what to do it's your plant, good luck.

@Snoleperd, perfect! thanks again. I’ll tiptoe in and keep my anxiety low. Saw your diary how did your yield turn out?

@Fordprefect42x10, the reason you want branches in ligh is bc flower grows on branches not on fan leaves, when you prune you pinch the fan off at mainstem, do not rip it off, do not use scissors, useing thumb and index finger pinch off the leaf then pinch off the opposite leaf so plant is even, go on my site i have pics of gelato by sweet, dont go crazy, do it evenly, if a fan is blocking light tuck the leaf so light hits branches, you just have to thin it out a bit, like i said to improve airflow, prevent mold and get thos branches into light, i pruned my gelato it will hold up your plant for a few days is all but you want to prune in veg not when you are flowering, the plant is on small side of medium, is very good smoke, and an easy strain to grow, just thin out the plant out a bit then raise light a few inches your plant is bushing out instead of going up, this is advice and you are new if you decide to take it go easy.

@Snoleperd, that’s really helpful. I definitely don’t hold you accountable for what I decide to do. A couple quick questions if you wouldn’t mind. I get the airflow issue, but what is the specific goal of exposing more branches? Also do I prune the leaf stem all the way to the branch? And yeah it’s a sweet auto. It was a freebie seed so practicing on that. My main order was Kali mist. My wife and I had that strain in Amsterdam years ago. Haven’t seen it since, but we loved that stuff super upbeat happy high. Can’t wait for that one. Think I’ll need a taller tent.
