The two phenos are very different. The one plant has almost everything focused on the main branches, with little to no side branching. Has required almost no defoliation to open her up. Very impressed with this pheno and I'm excited for the buds. I'm guessing it'll be done at 8 weeks.
The second pheno is an absolute monster. Even after topping the main stem had to be bent over and I've still maxed out my light height. Crazy leggy, super wide internodal spacing and very aggressive side branching off the mains. This thing wants to be huge, not particularly indoor friendly. Defoliation has been a constant battle. Buds started slow but have really started to wake up in the last week. It'll be at least 9 weeks for this one, likely 10.
First pheno got the chop. Had a 5 day flush, the 6 tops were taken and the lower buds were left for another couple days. This pheno seems like a bit of an exception. I know someone growing the same strain from seed as well and his plants are all closer to the longer flowering pheno. This pheno is a happy accident though, it is way more dense, potent smelling and covered in crystal. the shorter flowering period is definitely a bonus.
The second pheno has really come to life in the last couple weeks and gained a lot of weight. Still doesn't have much of a smell and doesnt have much crystal to speak of. Likely going to be at least a week before she comes down.
The first pheno took about 8 days to dry, it's at about 55 percent RH in the jar so it probably hung half a day too long. Still pulled 136g total off this plant, with probably 10g of fluff.
The second plant is packing on weight and it's finally starting to get some crystal. It doesn't smell very strong at all, but it's slowly getting stronger. It's got another week and a half to go.
Second pheno got the chop. Looks like a solid yield. I'm hoping for 150 plus, but that might be a bit optimistic. Buds have a fresh strawberry smell thats really nice but not overpowering.
This will be a good test for the new drying setup. It's just a 20"x20"x46" cardboard enclosure with 2 hanging wires down the length. It has an exhaust duct for ventilation and odour control that is plumbed into the tent below. By the looks of things, I might have to change to 3 wires to be able to handle a bit more. It would have been nice to make it taller, but because of the slanted wall I don't have much height to work with.
This strain was a bit of a disappointment. The early pheno was pretty good, but the later not so much. The two plants couldn't have been more different, the only thing they had in common was the relatively large size. The early pheno is head and shoulders above the later one. Not only did it flower in almost 3 weeks less time, the yield was almost identical and the buds are on a different level. It was apparent pretty early the later pheno wasn't going to be top shelf buds. The buds from the early pheno smell just like orange juice when you crack them open. I've never had a strain in 15 years of smoking that has smelled like it before. The other plant doesn't smell like much at all, well see if good things happen during the cure but I'm thinking the second plant is destined for my rosin press.
