MavAndy Friendly, first time growing couple, looking for any advice or tips :)
Week 1 -
8th April: Germinated Seeds
10th April: Transferred to Root Riot Cubes
Feeling very excited, germinated the seeds and moved them from kitchen roll to their wee coco homes. 2 of the girls looked a lot taller than the other 2, so we have decided to name the 2 ‘leggy’ girls ‘Bridget Neilson’ and ‘Maria Sharapova’ and the dumpiest one ‘Rebel Wilson’ and our smallest wee fighter ‘Baby’ who at the start didn’t look as if she was going to make it, but is still pushing through so hopefully see some positive changes next week 🍀

April 19th
So, we’re now updating our grow progress as it happens (as we only discovered this site today lol) and so far, we have read a lot of information about the specific strain we’re working on growing.
We have run into a couple of issues... on 2 of our stretched girls, they have got a pinch in the stem and one is bending in the middle (pictures attached)
Are they saveable, or should we veg the 2 thrivers for longer and view the other 2 as a learning curve and take them out, or give them more time?
Any advice is much appreciated! 🍀
Edit***
Happy 420 Everyone!!! 🍀
Today we have built up the tent (maybe should have set this up before now lol) and are setting up the hydroponic tray... we’re having a bit of trouble getting the lights at a perfect height and balance, we’re using 1x 600w Superlumen and 1x 400w HPS Grow Lamp but we’re concerned one will put out more than the other? Still tweaking, but if anyone has any tips and suggestions, please leave a comment

So gutted! 2 of the girls are not making it... I think it’s a mixture of poor lighting and overwatering... we’re continuing with 2 of the other girls, but we still have 1 more seed of GZ, do we plant another 1 or concentrate on the current 2? 🍀

MavAndy Hey Fellow Growers! 🍀
This isn’t technically week 4 but I’ve not figured out how to edit weeks and add more pics 🙈 any assistance welcomed 😂
So, after a dramatic couple of days, losing 2 of the girls early on (learning curve for us) we still have our 2 other wee survivors.
We transferred them into the hydroponics, we checked the ph once we added 7ml/ltr of grow to the water (where we live, we have a ph level 7 from tap) so we have a kit to change to 6.0 as we’re using root riot/rockwool combo.
The leaves are looking a bit yellow (we believe from overwatering and not adjusting day/night cycle) but they are sprouting new green leaves which looks to be a good sign. The stalks don’t look as stressed and currently the day/night cycle is 18 hours on and room temp 24degrees celsius and night 6 hours dark 18 degrees celsius. We only found out today that plants grow more effectively and to their best at night! So many things to learn still, but we’re enjoying every minute!
Is there anything else anyone could advise, our light also feel very hot and are currently above the plants are 45/50cm it’s a HPS 600w bulb?
Hope everyone is staying safe and enjoying their own growing story 🍀 we send you all our best wishes!

MavAndy Wow! 🍀 What a massive improvement over as little as 3 days!
We have learned, so far:
* Not to overwater and to instead, keep a high humidity for seedlings
* Keep the light directly above plants to avoid stretching
*Most Importantly: not to panic! 🙈
Unfortunately, we did lose 2 of our girls, 😞 but this hasn't disheartened us as the 2 others, (Rebel and Bambino) look to be thriving since they were transferred into the hydro tank, 3 days ago, and after a rocky start, they seem to now have found their ‘roots’ 😋🍀
26/04/2020
We topped the girls today, clipped their little nubs, to encourage outward growth, the lights are on for 18 hours and room temp 23/24degrees celsius , and off for 6 hours, room temp 18degrees celsius.
We have a fan blowing all the time, should we turn this off for dark time? Or keep blowing for stem strengthening? They still seem a bit pink but greener at the top near the leaves, does anyone have any suggestions what can be causing this (ironic if it’s the fan 😂🙈)
Any suggestions or help is much appreciated!
Happy Growing! 🍀

hey there, there's notthing to trim here .... yet ! What you really need to do is add cal mag : those rusty spots are calcium deficiency , yellowing at the edges is magnesium deficiency. add this and a chelation agent like enzymes and your plant will double in size every week or so, you'll see. hope this helps ! 🚀
@OrtySmorty,
So should we keep the 2 healthier ones and germinate another GZ seed? Would she be ok to catch up? We have a hydroponics set up and a 400w and 600w hps lights, for a 1.2x1.2x2m tent, we’ve read a lot of info on this site regarding led lights, and we was curious about the difference, as we were given the lights from a friend and don’t have the money just now to spend a fortune upgrading them (I’ve seen a lot of people use red and blue lights) and mention EC? We’re so eager and excited to learn about growing and we learn new things everyday.
How are your autos going? 🍀 thank you for any info, much appreciated!
MavAndy
@MavAndy, LED'S are just cheaper to run. I have two tents. I have 2000w Vander Life duel spectrum which only draws just a little over 200 watts and in the other is a Mars Hydro TS 600 which draws 100watts from the wall. I have the a fan in each which equals 40watts, and exhaust carbon filter fans in each which draw 29 watts each.
That power draw is hovering around the 400w mark for the entire two set ups.
Average that at 0.17p per KW
Being used for 20 hours a day 7 days a week, and that adds up to around £35-40 per month, which is reasonable, especially for an Auto grow, if that was a photo period plant it would be less per month as I wouldnt need to have my lights on for 20 hours a day.
Now think of that in terms of actually 600w hps, which actually draws 600w then you have all the other electronic things that go with that.
LED'S are the way forward but you need to get reputable ones from well known companies that have solid reviews.
Hope this helps
Hi guys, you will need a digital EC METER PEN, and also a digital PH tester pen. Here is the chart I used with canna.....http://www.canna-uk.com/electrical-conductivity
My Auto's are plodding on just fine, I wish my AK47'S would grow a little faster but I am comparing them to my other plants which are being grown under a much more powerful light, and I should be more patient.
