first topping for the Shiskaberry mainline. since the Widow is a week behind, its not quite ready for the snip. I dipped the cut top in rooting gel and put it in a glass of water. I've never cloned before, and I'm curious how/if it will work without providing a high humidity environment.
had a few very hot dyas this week. high temp in the tent was 91 on Friday. Forecast calls for temps in the 90s for the next two days. The lights are on a 6a-6p on/off schedule which in retrospect wasn't very smart. I considered re-setting the plants with 24hrs of dark and setting the light for 8p-8a but I just cant bring myself to mess with it. I'll probably put an A/C in the mudroom for the next two days and look forward to more seasonable temps later on in the week.
I messed with it. I’m just not able to control the heat during the day. I shut off the 315 a couple hours early on Tuesday. 29 hours later I turned them on with a 8p-8a on/off schedule. I also put in another trellis net because some of the Shiska tops are getting heavy. Over the next few days I’ll be searching for hermies.
Found the hermies. One lesser top on the Shiska had about six of them. That top got cut. Later I found two on the big top in The middle. I plucked them off with tweezers. Again later I found one on another top. Tweezers. The Widow seems unaffected. The Shiska is also showing some signs of heat stress. The lights come on in 8 minutes. What will we find?
Last week was a tough one. A week long heat wave in May is probably something that I could have anticipated. I’m a bit disappointed but trying to stay positive. Since the light switch I’ve probably managed to find at least one small hermie amongst the Shiska tops every day. I just hope by staying diligent any seeding will be localized. A buddy of mine has a clones of these two plants so obviously we’re hoping the bananas are a result of the stress and not the genetics. Otherwise, maybe it’s just me but there doesn’t seem to be much growth this week.
Looks like some new pistils popping overnight. Hopefully we’re back to normal and can chunk up nicely during these last few weeks
Seasonable weather made for ideal conditions in the tent. WW is putting out new flowers while the SB just seems to be swelling. Full strength nutes and I’ve got my first signs of tip burn.
Final feeding. Just water from here on in. Clipped the big middle cola on the Shiska as it just seemed like it was cooking under the LEC. Plus, samples. Widow has a bit of new flower on tops but otherwise I haven’t seen a whole lot of new growth since the heatwave and light change in week five. Looking forward to setting up a 3x3x7 for next indoor season.
The smell is out of this world. Wish I could crawl into a jar. A contemplative high with eventual sleepiness. My nose finds lots of pine and lemon with a funky fresh bite.
Ran into heat issues starting around week five. Did a major lighting change which resulted in minor hermaphroditism but I’ve yet to find a seed. Gave a clone to a friend of mine and looking forward to seeing what different conditions bring. Love Barney’s Farm!!!
I planted this feebie seeds after only one Shiska germinated. Since it was a week or so behind on veg I trained using Nebula Haze’s manifold technique rather than the full mainline that I applied to the Shiska. I broke off one of the four main tops a week before it went in the flower tent. Through high heat and a light drastic light schedule change in week five to limping through the scorching final weeks of flower, she never hermied, showed deficiencies, heat stress, burned leaves, anything. Yield was bit low, but I’ll blame the heat for that, as well as the airy nature of the buds. Overall successful. Hoping to tuck away a jar or two for a few months. Late afternoon stuff for sure.
@Thundrfuk, I'm actually five weeks into flower so this diary is a bit retrospective. I can tell you that it's getting pretty loud in the tent though...
Wow, what a beautiful canopy of buds! I sure hope my first grow ever with Notorious T.H.C. from Humboldt Seed Company turns out like that.. It's just beautiful man.. Come give me some pointers if you can! Cheers happy growing!
