Wedding Cake Auto - Barney's Farm

AFTER SAVING THE LAST DIARY WITHOUT COMPLETING IT PROPERLY I THOUGHT ID GO AGAIN. DAY 1 23RD MAY! After using this site a LOT recently for information i decided to document my efforts here too. I attempted a grow 9 years ago in a small 40x40x60 cabinet with a bagseed. It went fairly well and manged to grow some buds. However 2 or 3 weeks into flowering the light fell from the top and smashed into a metal cake cooling rack i had set up to support buds. Being young and skint, that was the end of that! Soo, here is round 2 some years down the line. My set up is a 40x40x100 black orchid tent. I know to some this is a veg tent but for my space its perfect. I have a 4" inline exhaust with a 4" Rhino Pro Filter. At the start of the grow i had the filter inside but now made an air tight box to house the filter oitside the tent for max height. Using a 125w Dual Spec CFL (identical to the one i used 9 years ago) for seedling and early veg but plan to get an Led but worried on the light burn with my grow height I have started it through the normal process. Soaked for 16 hours, germinated on paper towel on top of PS4 for warmth and then into soil. Have a pots worth of light soil in the middle of its final pot of all mix. Have done 24 hour light for the first 3 days and now switch to 18/6. Growth looks good so far (3 days in). A small tear on the first leaf but think its ok. Have been slowly covering stem over with light soil to get it level with rest of soil and hope more roots shoot from there. As said above i am looking to buy a Led light. Have got my eye on a few Marshydro 300, Viparspectre 300, viparspectra 450. I need some advice on if i have the height and if they will be too powerful for my space.

So this 2nd week has gone well - Other than not fully understanding how to use this site yet causeing me to make another diary! I'm learning lol. Anyway... Started her with the 125w cfl and then changed to a new 100w (55w) cob led grow light. Nothing but good to say about it. Thanks to the kind people on here who answered my question promptly and educated me towards what light i would need for my grow space. Prior to the light arriving i moved my carbon filter outside the tent for more space. I made a sealed box and is working great! Managed to break a leaf on day 7 but doesn't seem to have slowed her down. Will start proper lst within the next week. Have been tucking leaves/temporarily weighing them down to get more light through and seems to be helping with extra growth all over. Started feeding at the end of the first week and has now had 2 feedings and think she loves it! Any help is much appreciated and criticism is always welcome. Excited for another week and what it may bring.

Another good week. Decided to top her on dsy 16as she seemed to be growing fast and healthy. After this i have been tucking leaves away to expose the bud sites. I am trying to train them outwards in a star shape. On day 21 i cut some fan leaves off and started tieing the branches down. I am going for a sort of star shape with it and am planning to change the ties for pegs. My main concern is my pot being too small but we will see. Is a 12l that i folded down and is 5l, 6l at best now. All a tester for what i can achieve in this micro grow i guess and will give me more chance of a better grow next round! Side note...have planted 4 autos outdoors yesterday guerrilla grow. So something else to keep me learning! May make a diary but not sure yet...

Been doing more LST this week and have just done a big defoliation today. Still training the branches out in a star shape. She seems to have grown a bit but expecting a stretch this week. Very pleased up to now as she has taken all I've thrown at her. Have started to see white hairs everywhere so looks like we're transitioning into flower. I still think my pot size and where i planted the seed lower is causing issues but im learning lots from this. Also added a 36w red led with the thought of swapping it for a full spec cob bulb next grow during veg. Then switching for the red again come flowering. I also added an extra fan which for now is cooling the lights but will be used for the canopy when it gets bigger. As always, comments and criticisms are all welcome as im sure to be making some noob mistakes lol. So help me out if you have some advice! Thanks for checking out my diary

A great week for growth. They stems grew out enough to let them start growing up. Still trying to keep the star shape and an even canopy. I have also cut a few inside leaves this evening to let more light to the bud sites. Weather has been over 30 degrees the past few days so temps have got up a bit. On the plus side i have been giving her a solid 3 hours of sun each day. Watering is now 1L every 2 days alternating between ph water to 6.6 and nute water also to 6.6. Hoping for a bit more stretch this coming week and some lower temps. Thanks for looking P.S: The now 5 autos that I've planted outdoors are ranging from 60cm to 20cm. Pleased with how this plant is doing. Lots of stretch this week and looks like she's still got more in her. Still been training the tops where i want them but the branches are getting stiff now so that's nearly it. The cooling fan on my grow light is really noisy and the loudest thing of my setup by far. So i have changed it for a much higher quality one and it's amazing! Night and day difference for noise and performance too! See before and after videos. I have a feeling i might run out of space in the middle with the 4 buds. Also that the outside ones are too close but we will see. Any comments welcome or suggestions. As i keep saying, all a learning process to get better each time. I am already planning my next grow which will either be do si dos auto or gorilla zkittlez auto both from Barney's Farm. Have a possible weeks fishing trip on 7th Aug. So has it not finished by then I will buy a water pump and set it on a timer. As i expect i will be flushing around then so just ph water through the pump. Thanks for looking P.s. Planted 2 more outdoors today - 1 went with the other 5 and 1 in its own spot. The stretch has pretty much stopped and she seems to be focusing on buds now. Lots of bud growth this week and frosting up just like a wedding cake! Still only a plant smell to her but suspect the next week or so she will start to smell like weed. Trimming some leaves here and there that get in the way and also some lower bud sites not getting much light. Switched to full flower nutes this week and still alternating between a feed and ph water to 6.6. 1.5l each time. Thanks for looking and happy growing. P.S Update on the 6 outdoors. Went today to add another one and they've ALL BEEN RIPPED! Every plant had been pulled out and couldn't find any remains nearby :( Had to put it in our 2nd spot. Gutted really but it's all part of the game i guess. I suspect the landowner did this, can't be sure though. That spot gets sun from dawn till dusk so such a shame. 2nd spot gets about half that but what can you do. Only got 2 left outdoors now. Will try again next year

Another week done. Hard to see progress day to day but just looking back at photos it's easy to see her moving along. It's my weekly ritual, photo, measure, smoke then update diary! So... She is still getting 1.5L each time i feed or water every 2 to 3 days. Increased the bloom nutrients further and decreased the grow to minimal. Removed a few leaves blocking sites again. Also a couple poking into the fans. As for lst, i slighty tweaked the 4 middle stems. The rest would snap with any bending below the top 40mm. Temperature spiked to 34 degrees in the tent for a few hours today but luckiky was watered last night. I think that helped her through those tough times. If she was almost dry and then had those temps i think she would be a bit annoyed! I was helping my brother move house and was a sweaty mess! Bet she was too and definitely appreciated my lights out being 1pm til 5pm. If it happens again and im home i will treat her to some ice packs by the intake again. :D All seems good overall. Can't really complain about anything. Last week i mentioned how she didnt smell. She did smell if you rubbed her trichomes and smelt your fingers. But just putting your nose to her was only a plant smell. Now, she has just started to have a smell of weed. I have a water pump and another timer to water her while i am away. All tested and after a bit of playing around i can feed 1.5L in 1 min :D On to another week that i am as excited for as the last. (I say our, the outdoors grows were/are 50/50 with me and a close friend).

Had a productive week for growth and made a few improvements. Bud development has been great this week. The buds are filling in the gaps mostly and creating nice colas. My plan is for the next 2 weeks to feed AN Overdrive. Then flush for 2 weeks i think. She is very sticky and has a sweet smell of candy grape. Still not a blast of smell when i open the tent but smelling her close she's sweet :D I re tied all the outside colas to make them have even spacing again. The red poles were in need of some better reflection so i foil taped them. The sealed box for my carbon filter was made when i was using the cfl. The way i needed to hang the light meant the outlet from the sealed box into the tent could only be 4 inches in diameter. With the Cob Led, it's attached on the side poles, so decided to max out the outlet. It is the full 6inches and cooling is more efficient now. (Maybe i should try origarmi) The black clip on fan was touching the tent so not drawing air as well. Also made an annoying vibration if touching the tent wall. I used the extender i had on the side vertically and mounted it horizontaly. Has opened the tent out a bit and have free space behind the fan. Have add photos of all improvements. Checked on the outdoor grow and is looking good. Did improvements on it last week by adding a 'gate'. Had spotted deer when visiting previously so didn't want to take any chances. Attached photos from visit yesterday. Video is from week before when i did the gate and surround supports. Left plant Glue Gelato Auto is my friends. It's the same age as my Wed Cake but grown outdoors it's whole life. Right plant is Purple Punch auto which is mine. 4 weeks younger than my Wed Cake and Glue Gelato but started indoors and then planted outdoors. This spot was only for 1 plant originally but after the situation from the other spot we had to take the GG there. Thanks for checking my diary See you next week and happy growing

Not much to report this week. Have switched Big Bud for Overdrive. Gone back to 1L every feed/water every other day and dropped ph to 6.4. The buds are swelling nicely and still have that sweet candy grape smell, as well as smelling piney, of aniseed and a hum of gas. Very pleased with how this is going so far. I plan to finish this in 3-4 weeks. Another week of feeding +/- 1 week and then 2 weeks flush. As always, thanks for looking. See you again next week. Any tips or advice always welcome. Have been away this week so only got start and end of week photos. My trip was cut short due to the current situation with the virus so home a day early. Auto watering worked as i hoped. Only issue was some white scum on the water and sides when i got back. Temperatures peaked at 37 in the tent while away due to outside temps of 35 degrees. She was flushed with 1.5l of 6.4ph dechlorinated tap water every other day while i was away. Plan to flush for one more week then 2 days of darkness. I will then cut and hang to dry. Last week of flush. Watered every other day until Wednesday with 1L of dechlorinated tap water at 6.4ph. Spotted a few bananas earlier this week and also a few under developed seeds which i pulled off. Think i took this one a week or so too long, we will see. Also the heatwave we had with highs of 37 degrees while i was away didn't help! Smells great but not stinky like i would expect. Hope the dry and cure changes this. She went into darkness at 1pm today and will be cut on Sunday evening. Thanks for checking out my diary

Wow, made it all the way to harvest! Very happy with this as it's my first proper grow. Some of the buds are a bit whispy/airy but i put this down to my light being only 54 true watts and 18 true watta for the red bulb. There are also a few buds with under developed seeds. I put this down to the high temps and possibly running it a week or so too long. The total dry weight is 48.72g so pleased with that. Also, 18g of sugar leaves that will be made into hash soon. Buds look very frosty and still smell like candy grape, aniseed and a bit minty/piney. Taste is sweet like berries, with a skunky hint there too even some mint. Hard to put my finger on it but its nice. The high is a happy couch lock. Hope this to get even better with the cure. Growing another Barneys farm again as pleased with this one. Thanks for checking it out. Update: The buds are curing away nicely. Been jared for 10 days now and really smelling great. I froze all the trim from my harvest and made some bubble hash today. I did 4 runs total, photo is of the first 3. After the first 3 I then re froze the trim for a bit while the ice machine was making more ice. The 4th run got about the same as the 3rd run. Lots of contaminents in 4th run. Will update weight in the next few days. 2nd update. Let bubble hash dry for 36 hours and weighed it. Added photos with weights.
