First time growing cannabis using miracle grow organics soil with about 20 percent worm casting also used about 1/3 cup of plant tone by espoma. June 7th - leaves started curling unward pretty sure it got to hot when I went camping for a few days. Tent got 35 degrees celsius or 95 degrees so I moved my light up a about 3 more inches and opened a few of my vents in the tent. Hope I didn't stress this little guy out to much.

I topped it I know its not really advised to for autos but figured what the hell. Also was wanting to start low stress training but its so short will probably start it in a few days. It also started producing a smell its week and with my carbon filter and fan you can't smell it unless you open the tent just getting a little worried as time goes on. But I'm trying to grow with 100 percent can't smell as discreet as possible. If anyone's reading this and has any advice how to insure no smell as plant grows on would greatly appreciate it.

Just continuing on with low stress training. Did remove a couple of large fan leaves blocking the smaller leaves. The canopy is very thick and dense hoping it stretches a little this week.

Yay my plants in flower! Do you think I need to remove leaves so light can get into the canopy?

I'm growing northern lights auto and just started to flower should I thin out the canopy so light can get down further?

I am always in favour of defoliation and I really saw its benefits especially during flowering. You can use a high-defoliation by removing all the big fan leaves at the beginning of flowering. She will grow new fresh leaves within 2 weeks, and the flowers will get more light in the meantime, and get bigger. You can also notice that the leaves which don't get enough light doesn't develop much and the plant left it to dry anyway. So under the canopy you should also take away the leaves which doesn't get any light. I hope this helps. Happy growing! Y

The spots on the leaves that I've been dealing with the last couple of weeks has just gotten worse. I'm a little concerned and hope my plant can make it through to the finish but I'm not sure how to correct it and afraid it might die. Was told to bring the ph I tried that was told to use more Cal mag and back off the fertilizer I tried that. But nothing has improved in fact its just got worse the leaves now not only have the rusty spots but are yellowing around the edges and dieing off. Using Fox farm but I don't have the big Bloom I just have the tiger Bloom and I'm pretty sure maybe its burning from the cal mag so going to try to go a week without it just using tiger bloom every other watering. Gotten lots of people telling me exact opposite things but this being my first grow just going to try to learn. I removed the dead and defolated. Before planting I put mycorrhizae and a little bit of bone meal in the potting mix. Maybe that's were I went wrong. The bone meal always works great in my garden with my bulbs. If you have any idea what went wrong please let me know.

Finally found out the deficiencies I had been dealing through this grow. The leaves were yellowing and dropping off also rusty spots. I raised the ph but was still having issues so I stopped all fertilizers thinking it was burn and it got worse about 40 percent of leaves died was worried it would die before finish. But read a bit and found out my problem was not enough cal mag I started adding more cal mag and all issues disappeared in about a week I'm so glad. This is my first grow and I've learning a lot seen the buds more then double the last week and getting frosty so now I'm really excited its all coming along great now. This week I also added an inch of worm castings and just scratched them into the surface.

Everything is coming along the buds grew so much this last week witch makes me really excited for the last few weeks to finish up. Starting to smell quite a bit stronger these last few days. Not really sure when I should cut it down seems like everyone does it different so ordered one of them those magnifying looky things to see the tricombs. Im gonna plan on 40 percent amber. Got 2 main colas and tuns of shorter ones surround them. Scene this is my first grow think I'll just gonna wing it plan on flushing the last 10 days and just giving straight ph water. Then gonna give it a day or two in the dark with no water before I cut it down. Let me know if that sounds right could use any advice I can get. Not really sure how long your supposed to hang before putting in jars so if you know comment below please.

Flushed her about 5 days ago im surprised how fast its started to yellow out. Also stopped all fertilizer just ph water from hear on out. Tricombs are now cloudy with barely any amber. Figured its got a couple of weeks left I hope the buds can fatten up without nutrients. If I woulda known how fast she would yellow out i would of waited a week. I did cut the lights not 24 hour anymore now 21 and dropped the temps a bit maybe it will think fall is coming and hurry up. There's a lot ill do differently next run but sense this is my first grow ever ill just ride this wave out. If anyone's got any extra tips leave them in the comments below.

This week last week spent the first 2 days under light then I stopped all water and turned off the lights for the next 3. Now cut her down and hung her up to dry. Yay so excited for drying I've been having a hard time with my humidity been around 44 and 50 witch I figure is close enough.

Im very surprised how well this northern lights did with all the loops I threw it through. Almost no fertilizer had 3.3 oz in buds. And another 1.2 in small popcorn buds I didn't include in the final weight that I'll be using for butter. This was my first grow learned a lot and I'm so excited to get better on the next run.

Sounds like you're pretty well on track for your harvest in approximately 10 days; my Northern Lights grows usually need 7 or 8 weeks in flowering mode. Regarding drying time, that's dependent on your set-up. I use an 8' x 8' closet without a window and keep the temperature at 75F and the humidity at 50%-55%. Under those conditions, with sugar leaves removed and stems kept short, I can usually get them dried in 2 to 4 days. When the small stems crack with moderate pressure but the large stems still bend, plus you can click a small bud off easily with very slight pressure, your buds are probably at the sweet spot range to start curing. Keep a close eye on the buds in the jars; if after the first couple hours they seem moist on the outside, take them back out and spread them out on a clean, dry surface for another few hours, then try them in the jars again. When you've done this once or twice it'll seem like second nature. BTW, your Lady looks great!

@AuldKelt, that's so funny I was just reading the complete guide to growing and curing last night from the growweedeasy website. Haha thanks for the tip tho

@GrowingGracie, I should have also pointed you towards an excellent tutorial on that topic on the GrowWeedEasy website. Look for The Complete Guide to Drying & Curing; it covers the subject very well and should provide everything you need to know. I don't agree with ALL the advice the site offers, but nobody agrees all the time😊. I'd have given my eyeteeth for a resource like that when I was first growing, but computers and websites weren't even a bleak in the eye back then! Take Care.

Congratulations on your successful harvest! So glad to see the final stretch went well for you. That's exceptional for a first grow. A Blue Ribbon performance for sure. Give yourself a hearty and well earned pat on the back! Take Care.
