Day 1: I am running 4 fast buds seeds outside. I am using extra soil I had left over, it’s a 4 way mix of peat, compost, sand and top soil. I added some perlite to help drainage. It took 5ish days for the seeds to break ground. The Jack, Amnesia haze and Russian all popped without issue, the skunk ripped off one of its cotyledon leaves and hopefully didn’t damage the true leaves. We’ll see how it goes. I’m looking for an easy, low effort grow to boost my yield. Stay tuned for what happens with these fast buds tester seeds. Happy Growing 🌱

Week 2: These poor little plants have had a bitch of a week. The weather has been garbage here this last week. Lots of clouds and rain, temps unexpectedly went down to 2C one night with frost while I was working nights. These little plants seem pretty tough tho so we’ll see how they end up. As of this moment they’re just doing their thing. Happy Growing 🌱

Week 3: These poor little plants are having a tough time with weather around here. Lots of rain, overcast days, cool nights. They are growing on the slower side. I’m interested in seeing how these plants do. The skunk is hurting pretty bad since she ripped off her cotyledon in the seed hull. Hopefully they can turn this around and end up with some nice flowers. Happy Growing 🌱

Day 28: I was at the lake last week and left these plants to do their thing so no week 4 entry. Our weather has finally changed last week and it’s sunny and hot days and warm nights. They’re loving it!! The Jack and Russian have started to flower, I’m assuming the others will be starting soon. I removed a large fan blocking bud sites and found an aphid, so tonight I’ll spray with end all and again in a week. If anybody has any repellents for those bastards I’d love to hear. Either way, they’re cruising along with little issues. They were fed for the first time today with 9ml CNS 17 and 9 mls CNS 17 ripe, 1 tsp epsom salt and 12ml fulvic acid per gal. Ppm 650. Week 2 flower: these plants are just doing their thing. They’re quite happy with the weather and what’s going on. I had to move them yesterday cuz we had some crazy wind, but other than that they’re growing well. Bud sites are stacking up on most and stretch is happening. They are starting to smell, nothing specific but in general. Just watching them grow for right now. Happy Growing 🌱

Week 3ish: I fed these plants with Advanced Sensi A&B to give them a little bump of nutes. It was around 640 ppm. They are quite happy with the weather here, except one day it stormed like crazy and they spent the night in the shed. They got the nice light drizzle then the hot sun the next day and not the BS in between. They are putting on size and smell already, get a nice skunky whif when the wind is right. I found caterpillar poop on the Jack, so I went on a hunt and found a caterpillar. They caused a lot of problems last year so I’m glad I found it quick. Only 1 or 2 top cola leaves with minor damage. I’ve also been checking for aphids since I sprayed. Haven’t seen any thankfully. I’m watering the soil when they’re about 2/3 dry, just some weight at the bottom. Tucking leaves that are blocking bud sites. I do love these autos for adding to overall harvests and the variety of strains in a short amount of time. These Fast buds are the best on par with the photos I’ve grown and easy easy. I’m thinking about starting 2 more inside where I have room on my limit and then putting them outside to finish flowering once these are done. Overall very happy with the way these are going hopefully they can finish up strong. Thanks, Happy Growing 🌱

Hey Auto Growers. I am wondering what you think about defoliating autos. I’ve had differing results and don’t want to stunt them. Mostly the AH & JH to let light in. I’ve tried tucking but they just pop out in the wind. If yes when is the best time. Thanks, Happy Growing 🌱

Hey friend I almost always defoliate my auto flowers. I especially do a nice clean up of the bottom as i find i don't have as many popcorn buds and my upper buds seem more solid. But for defoliating your whole plants i would just do about 20% and scout for the most light blocking leaves. Typically they should survive it just fine especially since you're still within the first 3 weeks of flowering. Go for it. Pro defo all the way.✌️

Week 3-4: The amnesia haze and jack herer are doing really well, they are further along than the Russian and skunk. I can smell them from 125 ft away with the right wind. I removed 2 leaves from the middle of each plant to let more light in and tucked half a dozen more. They all have yellow leaves on the bottoms and inside, I’m taking that to mean they’re hungry. I fed today with 640 ppm nutrients and Green planet Rezin which is t in the list. They’re nicely trichome covered and fun not when close up. I’m just keeping an eye on them, waiting to see darkening trichomes. Our nights have been quite cool and under fed, which I think is slowing them down some. Other than that just watching them grow. Week 6: Everything is going good this week, there are a couple of minor issues and this point. The skunk has some aphids, I’ve been scouring leaves and crushing those bastards. The other 3 have few to none which is interesting and great. I’ve separated the skunk from the others to hopefully keeps the aphids away from the others. They’re all growing well, buds are firming up nicely. I’m wondering if some hemp fields around my house may have pollinated my last crop and maybe some of this one. I can’t see any bananas, but the AH seems to have some seeds or very swollen calyx. It really hasn’t been stressed too much so I find that interesting too. The smells coming off them is pungent and powerful, mostly skunky funk as of right now but we’ll see what progresses. Happy Growing 🌱

Hi there, I’m growing autos outdoors and am wondering if anyone has tried to grow around hemp fields. I’m wondering if the male hemp pollen will cross pollinate to my plants? I grew 4 last year and they were full of seeds. This years amnesia haze seems to have seeds. Thanks

Yes it can cross pollinate and it will ruin ur plant, get the structure of a grow tent and plastics and do a green house to prevent it. Hope ur amnesia haze didnt get pollinated by hemp, it would hurt sooo much cuz amnesia haze is my favourite smoke so far. Wish u best of luck growmie.

Week 7 Day 63+ from seed: These plants are almost done, a week I’m thinking. They’ve been getting only water for a while now, some fading is starting. The skunk still has aphids, but some ladybugs moved in and are going to town on that buffet. I’ve killed lots and just helping it limp to the end as it’s so close. The other 3 have no issues, just checking trichomes and they’ll be chopped. I have seen some seeds, but am now interested what their genetics would be if an auto gem was pollinated by hemp?? Anybody know? They smell so good, skunky earthy. The buds are dense, I have high hopes for a good yield. There are trichomes crusting the buds. I like these FastBuds. They’re solid genetics. Happy Growing 🌱 Update: it’s day 72, We’re having hot humid weather and the aphids are bad on all types of gardens. The trichomes are looking really good, I’d say all cloudy. I can see the aphid larva are starting on the other 3 plants. I’m going to cut tonight once it cools off. I can’t see them getting much better before they’re loaded with aphids.

This strain is super nice and peppery, the effect is nice and mild in its effects but last a long time. It’s relaxing but functional and still able to create, talk and be active. It’s my favorite of the 4 from this round.

All of the plants I’ve grown outdoors have had a ton of seeds in them. The hemp fields around me a clearly pollinating them so my outdoor growing in done. They trimmed easily and are covered in trichomes so I’m happy.

This strain has the cherry flavor that FastBuds states. It’s so tasty and the effect is nice and chill. Again tho is was pollinated heavily. It’s going to be made into oil or edibles cuz there’s more seed than bud. 👎🏻I’m looking forward to another round of this beauty.

These autos are easy easy. I love them as a boost to the annual total. They just get water when they need and sun all day and then you get buds at the end. This one didn’t end as well due to the pollination but it is what it is.

A beauty of a strain as usual. Skunky and pungent. It got pollinated but what can you do. I’m happy with the ease and quality of even a fully pollinated FastBuds plant.

This plant had a small spot of bud rot about the size of a golf ball but that was it. It trimmed easily, had a good amount of Trichomes and was easy to get. Love these FastBuds seeds.

Nice grow! How was the smell of the Amnesia Haze when flowering? You noted that you could smell them from far away, was that also due to the AH? Looking forewards to your reaction!

@StealthyDutchGuy, if you are looking for FastBuds genetics, check out their page in the breeders section of the drop down in the top left corner or on their website. I’m not sure of a nonsmelly haze. That’s kinda the beauty of them haha. Reach out to FastBuds and they’ll be able to help you better. 👍🏻👍🏻

@SAC87,Hej! Thanks for the quick reply 👍. Too bad the smell is quite 'loud'. I was considering this strain, but I think this might give me troubles due to smell. Super thanks for replying and good luck with the other club of Fast Buds strains. That's a lot! 😍of different strains man. Oh! Maybe you could give me an advice on a not so smelly haze autoflower? That would be super nice 😁 Maybe Mexican Airline auto from Fast Buds?

We have the same problem here in the Ottawa valley... so many growers letting their males and herms pollenate the neighbourhood :(

@Njanne, very true! I have a feeling this is going to become the norm with inexperienced growers 🤦‍♂️
Athos
Athoscommentedweek 95 years ago
it seems you already have your answer, of course that hemp can pollinate your plants. It seems that outdoor growing will prove problematic for you. I would consider setting an indoor.
SAC87
SAC87commented5 years ago
@@Athos, thanks for the reply. I have an indoor grow as well. I’ve only had an outdoor license since last year. I stressed last years crop badly and that was my assumption for the seeds. I’ve learned more about hemp since then and am wondering if that’s the reason as these one were taken care of. Thinking I’ll get all indoor when I renew the license. Thanks again.

Believe it or not, you can order live ladybugs online (Amazon even, they come frozen - pay for the expedited shipping!) and set up a small little nest for them nearby (small tent, nectar, etc) and they will go to town eating aphids. The nest is important otherwise they'll leave when they run out of aphids to munch on, and the adults don't eat as much as the young ones, so you want them to breed. I have to grow indoors/tent to stay legal, but I have used ladybugs to get rid or a huge aphid problem I was having with my roses outside to great success. Good luck & happy growing!

SAC87commented5 years ago
@Smokin_Joe,thanks for the heads up on those. I sprayed them just before flower so I’m thinking I should be ok. I’m checking regularly and not seeing any anymore I did have a big issue Indoors years ago and I’ll be looking to ladybugs if I ever do again.
