It's time for my second grow and I want to try hydro. I have a small 2X3 closet and it won't fit 6 DWC buckets so I decided to build my own bucket. I hope it works!

My closet is 2'X3' and a 27-gallon tote box should fit perfectly. Any suggestions for my set up? Thank you!

Finally finished building my DWC tank this week. So far everything is working great. Per the week 1 grow question suggestion I have added a water transfer pump to top off the 27-gallon reservoir. 2 seeds died during germination, will add another 2.

I got my seeds from the Seedsman and only 3 out of 9 survived. 1. Paper towel method til root appears about a half-inch. 2. Put in pre-soaked RootRiot plug, 3 out of 6 died. PH and watering are fine. 3. Then I tried Rockwool again, 3 died. Do you think this is normal?

Hi there! It can be genetics and they just were very easily shocked/killed but to me this feels more like something you did if all of them sprouted but they died afterwards. I've seen seeds that growed only cotyledons and no root at all etc. so there might be still genetics related. When you are transferring those seeds to the new system you want to keep the environment as stable as possible 'cos temp/humidity changes and pH/EC changes in water might shock or even kill the fragile seedling. I always like to let the seeds be in the paper towel until I see the cotyledons forming and transfer then, by doing this I think they are more developed and therefore maybe can handle more handling and changes

I have to say this hydro grow is way faster than growing in the soil...root is very impressive.

Looks like mold inside the Advanced Nutrient B-52 bottle. Has anyone had the same issue? Is it normal and safe to use? I purchased this bottle about 2 months ago and maybe used it 2-3 times. The bottle was stored in an air-conditioned indoor space with no direct sun exposure.

Hello. Most mold will die at temperatures over 120 degrees f. If your cheep like me, try putting it in a pot and raise the temperature. don't let it boil. wash the bottle with very hot water (boiling water might melt plastic). Let it cool. put it back into the bottle. check it in a few weeks, if no mold go ahead and use it. If you don't want to try that, go get a new bottle. Good Luck. Chuck.

Leaf looks droopy and curled downward. It only appears at the top of the canopy and the affected area is about 15% of the overall bud sites. From what I learned it could be either windburn or broad mite. I'm using DWC with plenty of air so it shouldn't be a watering issue.

Found those perfect healthy new bud sites after defoliation. Bud sites are below my trellis but have exposure to light. 1. Should I trim them to boost the main cola above? I'm in flower week 5 and my strain is auto. 2. Keep them. Any suggestions?

Without 30-60x magnification, it's tough to guesstimate such a thing. Great thing about hydroponics is you can 'flush' in 24-48 hours. without a magnification and no familiarity with your strain ... generalization of 50-75% of stigma turning red/colored is one way you can choose when to harvest. i'd google this stuff and read teh 1000 opinions on it... test out early vs late harvest and decide for yourself what you like best. So, no worries if the first harvest isn't where you want it in future... as you'll need to test it to find out slowly over time... i still don't know my exact preference yet. get a cheap loupe or nice digital microscop to see teh trichomes. watch how they progress the last ~2 weeks. once they start turning amber in earnest, it's a 3-5 day window probably... seemingly takes forever to get from a few ember each locale to a wave of it washing over more quickly.

Hey! They look pretty ready and quit tasty I might add.. But just to make sure I would check the trichomes on the buds with a 60x magnifying loupe. Harvest window opens when you start getting amber pistils(hairs). Normally when there's 70% amber and 30% white pistils they're ready to start flushing but that's not always the case. Clear trichomes haven't reached their full potencia, cloudy ones are full of THC and amber are losing THC while gaining CBN. So depending on your preference whether you want more of a head high or body high. I normally start to look at trichomes when there are about 50/50% white and amber pistils. I harvest when after examining and finding 70% cloudy trichomes and 30% amber trichomes. For me that's a prefect combination, depending on the strain as well. Have in mind if you use nutrients you'll need to flush the roots, watering only with PHed water for at least a week. Good luck and happy growing!
