Week 7 It's been hot this past week. Our tent has been averaging 80-82F during lights on, with the a/c running and 75-78F during lights off without a/c. It's supposed to cool down a bit this week, so hopefully we'll be able to aim for the tent to run a few degrees cooler. Plant #3 is looking very spindly, with very thin leaves and very stretchy. I'm not sure what to expect out of that one. It's genetics seem to be the odd one out. Both Plant #1 and Plant #2 have similar structure, leaf shape and growing pattern. Day 43 - watered Plant #3 with dechlorinated tap water with 1ml/gal of Remo Nutrients' "Bloom", "Astroflower" and "Nature's Candy", resulting in a weak 120ppm nutrient solution. Watered to approx. 20% runoff. Runoff from Plant #3 = 1220ppm. The last half gallon that was applied was mixed slightly stronger, with an additional 1ml/gal of each nutrient, resulting in a 300ppm solution. - we went light on the nutrient mix due to top dressing with Gaia Green "PowerBloom" dry amendments last week. We feel like Plant #3 is very hungry, showing dark red leaf stems (phosphorous deficiency, if i'm not mistaken??) but we don't want to get carried away and cause a nutrient lockout at this critical stage. We're hoping we're giving enough, without giving too much. - defoliated a few fan leaves from the bottom of Plant #3. Day 44 - Plant #2 looking a bit droopy after lights off period. - Plant #1 and #2 still have fairly heavy pots, no watering required today. - Increased intensity of "Elite 360" light fixture to 80%. Day 45 - top dressed Plant #1 & #2 with Gaia Green 2-8-4 dry amendment fertlizer. - watered Plant #1 with 1 gal of dechlorinated tap water, with 120ppm CALiMAGic and 1 tsp of RAW Microbes for bloom stage. - moved Plant #2 up closer to light. - temporarily increased "Elite 360" light intensity from 80% to 85%, for 8hrs. Day 46 - Plant #2 still looking a bit droopy. We've kept a close eye on ensuring we're not over-watering but i suspect that there's still a bit of over-watering to blame since #2 is not taking up the water as fast as #1 or #3. - watered Plant #2 with dechlorinated tap water with 100ppm CALiMAGic and 1 tsp RAW Microbes for bloom stage. - temporarily increased "Elite 360" light intensity from 80% to 85%, for 16hrs. Day 47 - noticing issues showing up on lower leaves of Plant #1 and #3. - we're not sure if it's due to nutrient lockout... It would make sense for Plant #1 because runoff ppm levels have been very high but Plant #3 has had much more reasonable runoff levels. Day 48 - Watered Plant #1 & #3 with a 200ppm solution of Remo Nutrients' "Bloom", "Astroflower", "VeloKelp" and "Nature's Candy" (approx. 1ml of each per gallon of water). - watered Plant #1 to approximately 20-25% runoff. Runoff tested at 1860ppm. This is lower than last week but still very high. - watered Plant #2 with approximately 1 gallon of water, minimal runoff. - leaf issues have gotten much worse. Suspect nutrient lockout. - we considered doing a flush but thought we'd leave it until next watering. Day 49 - leaf issues continue to worsen, spreading to different leaves, mostly older fan leaves, lower growth. - turned on fan at bottom of tent, to provide increased air flow around pots, hopefully to dry them up a bit before we flush them.

Grow Questions
VanCplGrows
VanCplGrowsstarted grow question 4 years ago
Leaf issues started showing up in 2 of 3 plants, progressing fast. Soil runoff tests have been v. high (2000ppm+) so we're assuming it's a lockout issue. We watered 1 day ago, with 200ppm solution so pots are still very wet. Better to let them dry out a bit or flush right away?

Heya, I would personally let it dry out and then perform a flush until you hit your desired ppm and resume as normal. Usually the process I follow if I have a salt build up that high. Good luck!

For the record, I couldn't disagree more with Albert. I personally find your journaling to be very meticulous and informing. Your grow style works very well for what ya'll are trying to accomplish. Adding in the very tastefully done pictures of a beautiful woman, who is obviously very involved in the growing process, is just icing on the cake. I think cannabis is more than just a plant that gets you high, it's a lifestyle that includes a very wide variety of people, including those of us who happen to appreciate females whether they are 2 legged or multi branched. Let the haters hate. Ya'll just keep on doing what you do

@@pizzaman841, Thanks for kind words! We know our style may not be to everyone's taste but we do try to maintain a sense of respect for people's opinions and for the GrowDiaries community in general. We also recognize that everyone interprets things differently and we do want to reiterate that we respect all people, all body types, all genders & orientations, races and religions. What we create and share here is done in a light-hearted way that we feel reflects our lifestyle and the nature of our relationship and growing experiences. We've learnt a lot through tracking our grows and through being able to connect and discuss with more knowledgeable growers here. We do value the variety and variation of the Cannabis community and we're just trying to carve out our own unique space here at GrowDiaries. It's always nice to know that people appreciate it, so thanks!

Everything is looking great. I'm loving the color your starting to get. Just this week I've been seeing the same. I'm also feeling you on the smell profile. Right now it's very mild sweet but no cheese, or vanilla, or some of the other descriptors. Nonetheless she is a beautiful plant that looks like it has a lot of potential. I can't wait to see how this one shapes up. Keep up the great work. ๐Ÿ˜€

@Treighfunky, yep, seems like every day the smell profile changes but we were expecting a bit more of that classic "cheese" smell. We're not disappointed though, they smell wonderful! ๐Ÿ‘

If you have any desire to breed, clone plants one and two and cross them for a more or less stable parent for crossing later. As long as they have desirable traits obviously.

@Learning, These were freebie seeds from FastBuds that we won through one of their contests here and we've got plenty of other seeds so no problem there. We're not writing this grow off just yet though. It may not be a record setter but we should still be able to pull a few decent buds from these girls... ๐ŸคžโœŒ๏ธ

@VanCplGrows, Yeah I wouldn't try during flowering as I would think it's to late. Do you have more seeds? Is it worth it to you to buy more if not? Personal decision here obviously.

@Chronicbastard, Ya, we're currently use "RAW" brand microbes and in previous grows we've used mycorrhizae. We've been using them in our veggie garden for years to great success. Great White and ReCharge are tricky to find in-store in Canada but we do have lots of alternatives and do plan to continue trying different products. ๐Ÿ‘

@VanCplGrows, that's awesome! 3 in a 2x4 would be pushing some serious light with some nice colas. I have the 225 with the QB96 in a 2x2.5 and just switched to flower. Really excited to see how it does! Great grows as always and keep it up!
VanCplGrows
VanCplGrows
@L_Tetragrammaton, we actually really love the 360 Elite! Those QB96 Elite V2 boards are pretty amazing and we do like the built in bluetooth controller. We do wish they had've incorporated a manual knob to adjust the light intensity as well though. As much as we love the clean look of the pre-built fixture, i think that if we had to do it again we would go with a build-it-yourself option, maybe using 3 QB96 V2 boards for a 2x4 space and placing the ballast outside of the tent. No complaints here though, it's a great light!

@VanCplGrows, excellent to hear - thanks for the feedback.
VanCplGrows
VanCplGrows
@HazeyBobby, Thanks! Yes, it does work quite effectively to help manage our grow environment. At the moment, it does require a lot of manual adjustments, depending on the outside temperature. We would love having a bit more automation involved, as far as adjusting the ratio of outside air to A/C air, but for such a small grow space the costs associated with that kind of automation don't really make sense. For the most part, it works fine for us as is. ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŒฑ
