So starting the diary @ week 3/4 depending. Haven't grown in 10+ years, never tried Auto's and seemed the yields/ quality have gotten much better so thought I'd give em a try. Light wise, went for what I used to use, after reading up more, clearly should have gone for LEDs but so is life. On the flip side ordered 1 300W CFL, and 2 arrived! Having an issue with heat through out, not helped by the greed to get the lights closer, more small fans on route to try to help, its sitting between 28-30 which is too high, fingers crossed the additional air flow from smaller fans will sort this. Have just been feeding water for her to use up the pot before I start with nutes, just gone with Canna bloom, again what I used to use, might be better now? Will start the nutes next week on some as the Auto Pounder is starting to show, but no crazy signs on the leaves, again maybe there is? I'm assuming any curled leaves are due to heat? As it's been a while going to go very small and steady adding nutes in fear of over doing. My original plan was just to LST, which I (was) fairly experienced at.... Start relatively early (week 2?) and have all reacted well. Some how by mistake Topped the American Pie, too much strain on the supports on a young head, luckily she has recovered. and then she pulled a head off i'd tied back too! Clearly putting too much pressure so have let some off. Pulled back all fan leaves originally, to not cut any leaf away. Started looking around online and seen no huge negatives from others defoliating autos, so got rid of a few fan leaves that were at the bottom of the canopy, again day later seems to have reacted well. Can Auto's Hermie? What happens to an over stressed Auto? Have recently tilted the pots to head get more light across the canopy, nothing i've ever tried before but more light then when she grows tie her down again to extend along the whole length of the pot. Again if anyone has any experience with this, good or bad let me know Love to know any thoughts etc from people and happy growing D

Still on the heat issue (apologies I clicked resolved and it wasn't) got the tent door open most of the day, as mentioned have 2 additional usb style oscillating fans on route to aim at the lights and help flow in the canopy, not sure AC unit an option. Should I raise lights?

Yes I would raise the lights off them some, & if the temp in your tent is staying to high, if the room outside the tent is cooler try opening the vents on the tent or getting some duct working and have a fan push or pull air in at the bottom & have a fan in the top of the tent pushing the hot air out! Hope this helps friend, happy growing!✌️🏼🌱

Hey friend, I think you're just starting to see her preflowers coming in, but regardless, still a sign that flowering is beginning. Most autos I've grown started between 4-6 weeks old. Since your leaves are a nice healthy bright green and you haven't been feeding anything yet, I'd say it's a good time to start bringing in the Bloom and Micro at a low dose, like 1/4 the recommended strength(something like 1/4 tsp per gallon) and me personally I've started to make a calmag supplement part of all my grows and seen much better results (but only maybe 1/2 tsp a gallon, once a week). Welcome back to the grow game. I hope the auto is fun to grow.✌️

Hello So this looks most like thrips damage to me...the bad part with them is they're very small and not always easy to spot. But with the white color and then the blackish looking speckles in another photo I'm pretty sure that's what's happening. In a few photos i think i can see some larger things on the leaves that may be the thrips themselves but I can't zoom in far enough to say for sure. Photo #2 has the most clear shot of them, they're a yellowish color on the leftmost leaf finger and it definitely looks like 2 baby thrips with a body and legs. In my opinion the best treatment is making an insecticidal soap, using dr Bonner's castile soap, you can find at any store usually...but any other dish soap would also work. I usually take a small spray bottle fill about 3/4 of water and then 1/4 soap, and then spray wherever you see or suspect those little stinkers are. I.S doesn't last a long time so you may need to spray a couple rounds but it will effectively kill any thrips and their babies. It also won't typically hurt your plants or any other living things in the house like pets or people, the only possible negative might be a small amount of soap buildup, but you can always wash that off if it happens. 👍

Haha that's the truth! But if you caught it early enough use some tape where the break is and then support it with a bamboo or other stake, or plant yoyos. If it's going to die it'll be known pretty quickly. These plants are a lot stronger than we realize sometimes. My mom snapped one of my auto branches outdoors with the hose a couple weeks ago...and i taped it up with a piece of scotch tape and it managed to survive, it was snapped soooo bad i was shocked it repaired.

If its a sudden temperature change from like 25°C to suddenly being 40°C, then yeah its probably because of the heat, if its not anything that critical, then its most likely nutrient lockout caused by nutrient accomulation in soil, if its this latest one, give it a flush and start the feeding regimen back to normal but going slower and give it longer breaks inbetween feedings. It could also be too dried soil, more heat=more evaporation, and the soil being more dry causes it to take in more nutes from the soil, so what could have been a good feeding schedule so far, may have become a overdose due to recent heat. So in this situation just water more often or reduce nutes. Its up to your judgment to take this information and see what fits in better with what has been going on over there. Hope it helped and if it did remeber to contribute back by picking the answer that helped you so the grower answering the question gets a point for the grower of the month contest. Stay lit growmie.

Depends on the type of high you want. Regardless of terpenes and genetics if you harvest with milky thrichomes its the peak of the effects you get sedative and active high. If you wanted fully active high, harvest with clear+milky cristals. If you want it basically fully sedative, just hold on untill its fully amber crystals and you got it. I like to harvest them at a point where some might say its a premature harvest, but i know what i'm aiming for, it just blast my mind everytime, since i need to be active and can't even risk couchlock i harvest with clear crystals. I get less yield but i get the high i want, and its better to get 70% of what you like than 100% of what you don't really want. Maybe leave to fatten a lil bit more. Stay well, and good growing growmie

This is an impossible question to answer as it depends on your conditions. My conditions dont allow me to simply hang it and leave it like some replys to the question suggest. My method is to hang in my tent and sweat the moisture. So i hang untrimmed with my Extraction running at 70%. I then just check the buds untill the outside starts to feel dry, when this happens i turn my extractor off for 5/6 hours and zip the tent back up. After the 5/6 hours i go back and the bud is wet again, extraction back to 70% and zip up the tent. Just continue this and keep checking the stems to see if they crack/snap . I find it best not to allow to dry untill snap as i normally find that is to dry for me. I do not use a fan on slow to move air in the tent as i have never had an issue since i dried this way. This method normally takes me around 4 to 7 days at most and has served me well. I then jar it up and within 2/3 days my stuff is smelling good and ready for a real taste.

You want to check the trichomes on your flower bracts not your sugar leaves. Sugar leaves have the tendency to ripen faster than the flowers. That being said the trichomes on your sugar leaves do not look ripe. When filled with cannabinoids(resin) the trichomes stand tall and erect. Yours are still folded over and starting to rise. Also the the head of the glands swell and balloon. Some strains mostly sativas have small headed glands naturally... but they too always stand erect when ripe. Your heads look quite small currently as well as not being erect. You do look to have some starting to get cloudy though on ur sugar leaves. Happy growing and stay lit fam.

Hello. Residue Test: Mix some up and spray on some flat glass. Let dry. Run your finger over the area. Feel your finger, smell your finger. Is there anything there that can get into your smoke. Is there is a lot of residue is there next to nothing. You decide if you want to use it. I've used this on cactus to kill bugs, Please test on lower leaves before you use on everything. Half isopropanol alcohol and half water in a spray bottle. And some dish soap, 4 or 5 drops. The alcohol kills by drying them out, eggs too. The soap gets into their lungs and coats them. But it makes the water slippery and it runs of quickly. I haven't had need to try the mix myself or flowering cannabis plants. My main concern is: will the alcohol dissolve the THC crystals? So test it first, and catch the runoff, and let dry. When dry, test with your finger to see if it sticky. Don't get much on their roots, the plants can look droopy (drunk) for a day or two. Tilt the pots or cover the rot area with plastic. Good Luck. Chuck.

I was doing some research recently in an effort to help a friend. Using a combination of soil dwelling predators along with foliage dwelling (Ladybugs) helps to kill them in different stages of their life cycle. If I were to face this issue, this is the approach I would try. Also, I now treat to prevent during veg. For pests I alternate Neem oil at half strength and Spinosad at 2/3 strength. Some plants seem sensitive to my sprays which is why I am trying diluted mixes used on a regular basis , and still dialing in my process. Better to prevent problems from occurring in the first place. Good luck and happy growing.

If you can re-take that second photo but try to make it focus everywhere or just build the picture digitally from multiple well focused points on photoshop and then submit it to the macro contest. Hi, I saw your grow diary and your plants look amazing other than the curled up leaves. So Maybe bring the light 24-30” up and this help your leaves not to curled up. Sometimes when it is too hot the leaves curled because they’re trying to conserved moisture. So if you bring the light up bit more, it will help the plants to conserved that moisture, also make sure your temp is below 80f. Too hot for the plants. Hopefully this works for you. Happy grow!!!!!

last you curling leaves is from a few things that added up. your ph was pr is way off, i recommend trying to have it at 6 during your next run, ph has a very important role in plants and the uptake of nutrients so the plant gets what it needs from the cell walls all the way to the leaves, now you also had or have heat issues, this stresses the plants to send all this what the f*ck energy to their leaves and they start dying, to fix this you would flush your plant until you got a run of of 6ph, then you would wait until your pot dried out and the first 2 feedings you would use kelp and cal mag or kelp and Epsom salts , after a few times you will then resume your nutrients at half of what you been doing, now your plants have seen the damage and i also recommend cutting off those dead and dying leaves, your plant is sending energy to those dead and dying leaves, where that energy should go to the healthy green leaves and soon buds. right now by keeping the dead stuff on, you are looking at a lower yield. now with the use of kelp, it also helps with heat stress, along with it is a great additive to use, here is some info on kelp. Kelp is an array of massive brown algae (seaweed) that grows underwater and on rocky shores. Kelp is located in regions of the world with cold waters. The benefits of marine kelp extract to plants have been identified through their active ingredients which include richly available plant hormones and beneficial trace elements (iron, copper, zinc, manganese, calcium, magnesium, sodium, sulfur and others). 5 reasons kelp is good, 1. Bio-stimulation of germination and growth in plant, meaning Kelp contains almost all micronutrients in the readily available form as well as plant hormones; all that encourages plant growth. Increased Plant Immunity The kelp extract facilitates the absorption of nutrients and provides powerful plant hormones; this makes the plants healthier and more resistant to diseases. Kelp also contains natural antibiotic properties that can help eliminate harmful bacteria. These features also make seaweed good fertilizer, where antibiotic properties can help protect the leaves from infection and discourage pests. Seaweed extracts are particularly rich in cytokines. Cytokinins stimulate rapid cell division and production of new cell walls, so cytokines are particularly crucial for further growth. If cytokinin is used during vegetative growth, the plants will grow faster with stronger cell walls. Expanded and Healthy Root Zone Cytokines work together with other herbal hormones. If, for example, they apply cytokinin during root formation, the cytokines will stimulate the division of multiple root cells. Kelp solutions applied directly to the root zone enhances root, health, and vitality. Starch molecules similar to sponges found in kelp can retain water near plant roots for a long time, making moisture available to roots without saturation. These starches also help to enrich the soil by feeding beneficial microorganisms, bacteria, and fungi. Kelp also acts as a form of soil remediation by improving the overall structure of the soil. Fortifies Plant Development Another essential feature of kelp is its rich concentration of vitamins; especially in the form of vitamin B. Vitamins provides the plants the power and energy needed to progress under the stress of accelerated growth rates. These powerful B vitamins can be particularly useful in cloning to reduce the mortality rate of vulnerable young plants. Increased Yields The most prominent visual effects of kelp fertilizer will be visible at harvest time. Rich content of stimulants, enzymes, and nutrients will generate more abundant flowers, fruit, and vegetables. Cytokinins applied just before flowering aid the formation of more lateral buds which will help in the overall yield and quality of the budding plants.

I've got an aunt whos crazy into essential oils and she's helped me build a bug blasting fungus smashing spray collection. Lol

the thing with the open sesame is that it is suppose to help the plant know it is time to flower, i have used it in the past but on photo strains, i know it helps open the flower sites and also helps the plant to stop its veg cycle. it is my experience using it. below is from their website, kind of generic Open Sesame®️ is a high-phosphorus soluble fertilizer that’s designed for use during the early weeks of flowering to support vigorous blooming and bud development. Whether you’re growing in hydroponic systems, containers, or gardening in the soil, Open Sesame®️ will go right to work at the root zone and deliver targeted nutrients when the plants need them the most. Garden Tip: Feed with Open Sesame®️ every other watering, starting at about the fifth or sixth week of a plant’s life.

@sndwich, yes mate perfect, let me convert to ml 14.7868ml per gal. read directions on label and remember they prob dont grow bud. you are getting a sea weed that has been made it to kelp or how ever, when or if it gets to hot in the grow room give this to the plants, if you know its going to get hot a few weeks ahead of the heat your plants will not stress, during flower you only give it to them every few weeks

@Buddha2, Thanks man, shame about the rot but actually managed to salvage a lot and worked out roughly 2 oz per plant, which for autos is pretty great :) x

remember you still have to flush this plant for a week or 2, your going to get a lot of yellowing leaves, your plant is getting close to being done, use more kelp on the next grow to keep them healthy

@blendmedmedman, I flushed them a few weeks ago and then started the nutes slowly back up again D

Your first mistake is running multiple strains, stick with one at a time will save you grief, if you snap a branch halfway put a bit of aloe on the wound and duct tape it together it will heal done it myself training, otherwise your grow looks good. At this time of year i use ac temp 77f, rh 50%, ph 6.2.

@Snoleperd, Thanks for dropping in, I always knew different strains would give different growth etc easy enough to raise or lower the lights/pots to help each individual. thanks for the duct tape tip, have left for now and both have seemed to healed up on their own :) x

Hey friend Great looking plant so far. I love growing photoperiod because they can get so big and you have more time to fix mistakes than an auto. But autoflowers have definitely come a long way and are very beautiful too. Ive met a few people who run a perpetual auto grow where every 3 weeks they harvest 3 and then germinate 3, and it's always in motion and never have to change the light schedules which is handy. If you like this auto grow when you're done i really recommend getting some mephisto seeds, their autos are wicked sticky, amazing for any concentrate, and great buds.👍

@Experimentgreen, Thanks for the feedback buddy, They have definitely been a lot of fun and obviously so much faster than photoperiod, be interesting to see final results due to the LST at the end on them all. The favorite so far has been the American Pie, she always looks amazing, great shape leaves, fast growing, bounces back from high and low stress very quickly, and doesn't even seem to mind the heat issue shown up in the other girls so far, lets she how she yields! Thanks for the hints D

It's not rocket science. I hang the plant to dry in the grow area in the dark for 7 to 10 days. As for curing, regular mason jars that I open daily, at least for the first weeks

She most likely won't hermie from something like that. And you could chop it off and make a clone out of it....like mentioned by one of the other growers.
