Let's get growing!
Its an all organic LED powered grow
Currently full biobizz line but working towards a no till /ROLS
The seed was free from Oaseeds
It has been in the vault for about 1.5 years
But has been stored properly for the majority of that
so I expect it should be fine
Seed went into a "root riot" root cube and straight into the 10L pot gave small sprinkle of water will update as progress shows
So far, but not so good,
unsure what's going wrong here. No obvious causes, heat, humidity, proximity all fine no obvious deficiency perhaps a light feeder that or the age of the seed stock. Hoping she pulls through, but she is looking a little deformed and a touch smaller than the girl next to her. Guess we will just have to see how she goes.
Some changes to the room were made.
The time was taken to create a basic tented doorway and install some reflective flooring using Mylar Oxford cloth backed with industrial Velcro and some white pvc for the floor.
Unfortunately the zips didn't arrive. Had to make do without zips, it makes a fine stand-in doorway but will need to review it before flowering. VOCs and all that.
The Lumatek has been running at 60% and Reading 35.c with the laser thermometer.
After a lukewarm first impression of LEDs a few years ago have to say love this LED
The cooler temps coupled with the efficiency makes it light-years ahead of the old Lumi 600w hps.
There is still the need to add some extra fans but for now theirs just a single mini tower/desk fan. Thinking of switching this out for some USB clip-on fans it would make for better circulation.
This white widow auto is the younger by a day sprout time and is not quite as impressive as her sister. (cheese xxl x mandarina)
That said she has had a rough journey the seeds were free as part of an Oaseeds premotion quite some time ago....
essentially cheep seeds they sell for around 2 Euro so all in all still fairly happy with her progress despite being a tad skinny with curling leaves.
Newer leaves appear less affected by whatever caused the curling on the older sets she also gave a slightly herbier fragrance when cut than her sister
suspect a lower yield and a nice profile
Room is a little warmer since the light has gone 24h.
The change was mostly to assist in humidity, it was starting to drop when the light went off.
Have also started running the Lumatek at 80% ( >60%) as temps were consistently fine.
Possibly very early signs of a slight mag cal def in the leaves waiting for the missing nutrients to correct this.
Hopefully its just some light mottling caused by the humidity swings.
Either way Will include mag cal and bio heaven at the standard amounts as soon as they arrive
and try to catch her early enough to avoid any serious issues.
Now The Bondage!
String was rotated with light tension in quarters changing to the opposite side every 2 days for 8 the last days
string was removed, she had mostly realigned and a little curvier.
Some quick lazy tweezer work removed the bottom nodes and baby leaves
//tweezers are pure barbarism, scalpel has been excavated from storage and reinstated as a result//
so far serving her purpose as fun and easy way to dial in a new grow space.
//mini update//
Little lady took well top the pruning and had a growth spurt 2cm in about 24hrs 😲 but also defo mag call def 😰 waiting on mag cal arriving was hoping 😒 it would be sooner but not long now.....😕
She is an impressive little girl, under better conditions she would probably be quite tall.
Thankfully mag cal and bio heaven finally arrived on the scene this week so hopefully it catches the mag cal def early enough.
Switched the light again, from 24 to 20/4 in the middle of the day in an attempt try to keep the humidity more stable.
The humidity keeps dropping the low was apparently 28% RH but that sensor does seam a little out,
it often misreads the temperature to be a higher value when checked against the laser thermometer.
Probably because its black and in direct light so it absorbs heat,
will try different placement.
Due to humidity there hasn't been as much vertical growth as expected but thanks to some routine tucking of the upper leaves in the colas are getting bigger/stronger.
Under ideal conditions the lower colas would have been removed at this stage... waiting to see how they recover from the mag cal and humidity issues before anything so bold as cutting.
Although sparred the usual Barbary on account of her condition she has endured some gentle bruising.
A light crushing to the main stem between 1st and 3rd branches
and again some crushing and bending to the 1st and 2nd branches themselves.
The environment is still under construction.
In the next week it is being fitted with a more sophisticated Mylar doorway, 150 mm extraction fan and 2x USB clip-on fans.
Hopefully the more advanced extraction system plus the circulation fans will reduce the temperature and humidity inconstancy.
In the event that proves inadequate a humidifier will be added to combat low RH% stats.
She had some really wild humidity swings all through last week
in order to combat this a 4" Hydrolab EC fan was installed and has been running at 75%
so far the temps have been more stable.
If the humidity had been more stable last week there would have been more vertical growth.
She was less affected by these swings than her sister (cheese XXL x Mandarina) having an airier more sativa-like structure.
In light of her good nature Some more adventurous steps were taken.
Bondage applied
first the second colas had to be tied down until the tops of the first and second cola were approximately even.
Then the top 3 internodal sections received some light crushing in preparation, the top was tied down from the second internodal stretch
and tightened until horizontal to the ground (90.) making the smaller upper branches more level with cola sets 1 & 2
now she has a nice fairly even canopy, it might even be time for some light defoliation...
Unfortunately due to an unpredicted power surge that damaged vital computing equipment the documentation of this process is missing.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused by only having after shots without the before.
she also took some fairly heavy defoliation even with humidity in the 70s and temps above 28.c she has recovered.
being to be an impressive and even canopy of sweet little bud sites very pleasing from the top down.
Lastly the addition of beneficial nematodes in a preventative capacity should ward off unwanted guests.
More effort to promote bio diversity in the soil will be made latter but for now hopefully nematodes will be enough.
all this extra heat and humidity seamed almost to be what she likes buds just keep popping pretty soon she will be a forest of nugs didn't train her at all this week she was happy to just sit and swell up in the heat not much of a scent to her but its early enough that she might come through with more intensity later
well from what was an undeniably shaky start she has bushed out into quite the hardly little lady. not the most dominant fragrance but some pine and sage notes reminiscent of northern lights. tight bud structure but also quite leafy looks like trimming this girl will take some time and effort, otherwise quite rewarding. took to the lst very easy and once again cheep seeds that were years old so all in all a fairly impressive girly. for the sake of airflow and bud density she was given some extra encouragement and tied down again and frankly she loved it. one other thing is she clearly needs the mag cal at a much higher level than the sister plant, perhaps its all the small leaves she produces.
on a side note the extraction was yet again redrafted (the perils of imperfect places) although temporary the extraction now makes use of a plumbers access point inside the space.
extracted air is pushed into the wall and floor cavity although fairly effective the solution is not perfectly air tight. its temporary however soon a more advanced silent set up will be installed ....
shaping out nice at the very start of the week she had a light trim and appears to be responding well.
their has been yellowing in the leaves but as she is quite late on and fairly leafy its probably not so important.
the cal mag has been held at the recommended dose for now if it starts to cause problems the dose will be increased slightly.
for a more accurate diagnosis a water ph meter will be needed but as soil ph is 6.5 its more likely the AWW is just a cal mag hog.
over and above that she has really responded well to the LST, from such humble a beginning, now she starts to shine.
so the great defoliation process has truly begun. 😬
she loves it she will be getting a regular hair cut ever week from now on.
almost directly after the buds started to generate some newer growth as well as some swelling of the existing bud.
so far the trichomes are lightly milky, she will be cut when they are mostly milk to give her that classic white widow clear intense THC high. 😎
THE END IS NIGH
so she is on her last laps getting nothing but clean water for the next week as well as a final haircut
its been great, nice easy girl smells nice bit too leafy structurally but she was really just fodder to dial a room in nice
will throw up some tichome shots and a post haircut photo but is basically a wrap
started with a small deformity and a little weak but very quickly perked up with a little tlc
responded well the the lst and the defoliation
one drawback is she has a very leafy bud structure 7/10 on the fun to grow scale 😄
Auto White Widow »»» White Widow x Unknown Ruderalis
its been great to be hear on the diary's for the first documented grow
this was a long time coming after a grave misfortune a few years ago .... 👺😭
and what a delight it has been 😇 held out to get a nice new setup and it was worth the long wait
the seeds for this gen were basically just canary in a coal mine while the room was dialled in
and yet she did well a nice sweet smell of her and despite her incredibly leafy structure quite an appealing look.
with light fluffy buds that would be very hard to trim properly a strong floral incense flavour that holds till the last toke
often recaptures the classic flavours of widow or northern lights but sometimes it has a more hazy and on occasion mango tastes
not the highest thc content but a good balance between cbd and thc provides a relaxed focused upbeat kind of high
that makes it a delightful morning smoke or on a break between tasks that require some focus less of an evening smoke but its light hearted vibe does
bring a smile if not quite the giggles so not bad for tv time either lastly it has a medium "munchies" level leaning more to the savoury than sweet foods
a good strain if your on a budget
a good strain for beginners
a good strain if you need it to finish fast (could have flushed at week 9 cut week 10)
not as strong as you might expect based on her photo period sister might be better auto white widows out their
@autoseedsman,
it was like 1-3 euro depending on where you looked
got this one free from Oaseeds years ago, it just sat unused in the vault
but now having seen her perform will be buying a a few as back ups and easy runs
has this hydro store got a link yet?
