Solo cup challenge time. This is going to be a DWC solo cup grow using Spliff Seeds Blue Berry (Photoperiod)running the full GreenBuzzLiquids line up.
So we knew we had to do something to stand out coming into this. Just hydro isn’t good enough to stand out. So, I rigged up a fancy little stand. Hopefully everyone like that. Lol. This bean popped fast like my other blueberry. Less than 24 hours. So 2-2 for Spliff for that. This is a new relationship, however if all their genetics wind up like this, well grows might get real fun here soon.
The construct of the cup and stand took some doing, but glad I did. I took a old tiny planter to make the net pot out of. Melted some holes, punched out a metal ring, took some random pieces, sealed it all up and made a leakproof net pot perfectly for a solo cup. The two air hoses running into the lid are 1 for air to the air stone inside the cup, the other is for filling later down the road when this is big enough it needs filled more often. Wanted to be ready for that early than later. The other thing you can’t really see too well in the pics, if the 4 uprights i put on it. Now I have the option of doing a mini scrog, or using them for training. Either way, I’ll be reusing this stand after this I’m sure. That’s about all I got for you this week. I hope everyone gets in on this challenge and has a real good time! See you guys/gals next week!
Well, she’s off to a decent start. The little set up is working about like I thought it would so far. A couple pH adjustments through the week, had to add a little more nutrients. Ultimately pretty satisfied. The roots are dropped down nice in the cup. We were a little rushed this week, we will try to get the pictures of the roots next week. Thanks for looking!
Things have simmered down and it’s starting to settle into its groove. Roots have dropped nicely. The pH has been staying very stable. That was my biggest concern with the GreenBuzzLiquids, I hadn’t tried it in hydro yet. However it’s doing a bang up job. I was going to use GHE nutes on the bigger blueberry I’m doing, however I can already see keeping this fed and happy is gonna be work. So I switched the 5 gallon hydro over to greenbuzz early this week so I’ll be able to tap into the hydro reservoir later down the road to help off set the usage. I’m trying to get this little solo cup to run as smoothly as possible. On the plus side, the details making this little one right, is helping me learn and push myself. Not so much right now, but I’m sure it’s gonna start fighting me any day now. Lol. Thanks for looking!
***** Chopped the lip off the top of the lid to meet compliance. Still gonna finish this one on the sideline, but by the rules!!!********.
Right after pictures I did some trimming and training. I’ll update tomorrow with a picture or two after the training. There’s just a lot of diaries to get to. Next week she should be ready to show off a little. Still not exactly sure the direction I’m going here, but I better figure it out soon. Veg time is winding down and the flip will be here before I know it.
As far as the plant her self, the indica is strong in this one. Thick branches, big big fan leaves, tight in between the nodes, just a good looking little plant so far. Let’s see what next week brings. See ya then.
Here comes the last week of veg. It was supposed to get the flip this coming Sunday, but it timed out better for me to flip it a few days early. We cut the lip of the cup off as flush as I can get it without damaging the plant. Still have no real intentions of entering it into the solo challenge though. Maybe if enough people would like to see it back in, speak up. I think this is as compliant as a hydro solo cup can be. But that’s just our take on it.
Growing this little one is a ABSOLUTE BEAST. She’s packing on the growth, side branching looking healthy. Roots are clean and healthy. She’s LOVING this GreenBuzzLiquids line up. Gave her a little split of the organic grow and organic bloom combo for the flowering transition. She should look like a whole new beast come next week. Thanks for looking everyone!
She’s back and ready for action. Made some changes, took some high risks getting everything worked out the way we wanted. But she’s GOING BACK IN THE CONTEST. If GD or the judges don’t like it, pull it. Other than that, she’s back on a full send.
Flowering was Initiated last week. Showing some pistols lightly here and there. She’s ready to explode with growth now I hope. We will see. We will see ya next week!
Here we go. Another week in the books. Still not seeing heavy pistils yet, but they’re coming. Little ones here and there scattered about it seems. She’s obvious been spending most of her time and energy into that stretch! Really getting up there. It’s crazy, this is EXACTLY the way I had this visioned in my head when this started. I’m glad we got a good generic and strain to pull this adventure off with.
She’s a thirsty girl. Chugging down the nutes about as fast as I can put them in the cup sometimes it seems. However if I can keep her going, she might be something to behold in the end. All the fun and games are behind now. Now is where the real growing begins. Trying to keep the roots happy and the buds soon to come happy will surely be a battle. Hey, it’s not the first battle we’ve fought through. We have a helluva support system here if things get dicey. Thank you guys this is as much the fruits of your labor as ours. We’ve learned so much from you all. Let’s hope we can keep her going!
This little solo keeps on chugging along. She’s thirsty. No doubt. Downing more than a entire cup on nutrients a day. This will be the week I rig up a drop line and gravity feed. She’s becoming too much.
As far as the plant is concerned, I sure can’t complain. Stretch seems to be about done now. Pistils are forming up nicely. She might just make some decent looking buds yet. We will see. Until next week!
She continues to survive and surprise. Roots are still super healthy. Veg seems super healthy. The buds are starting to stack. She’s going to produce some nice stalks of buds no doubt. Not a whole lot of action to note. PH adjustments, topping of the cup etc etc. pretty basic boring stuff. Until next week, thanks for looking.
Well look at her go! She’s surprising me every day that passes. These buds are looking like they will be full stalks. The buds look like they’re fattening up and getting nice and dense. She’s maintaining her health thus far. Leaves all look pretty healthy. Got a few weeks left to keep her in good shape. But the home stretch is coming. She’s downing about 1/4 gal a day sometimes a little more. The drip line I put in works. . . Kinda . . Sometimes. . . So I really have to keep a eye on this one. I love the grow. Absolutely. But I’m ready for this one to finish and get back to normal scale growing. These solos are not for those whom are not dedicated. Work your butt off for sure. Anyway, here she is. I hope you like and thanks for looking. See ya next week!
Well this thing is a real pain in the butt to keep up with, but I could not be more proud. Win or lose the contest, this thing was worth doing. It’s been quite the experience and has really kept me on my toes. A few more weeks and we should be on the home stretch.
I’m gradually decreasing the night time air temp. Down near 60 now. Might push her just a little more. I’m getting greedy I know, but the only thing that would make me happier on this grow is if she starting putting out the blue colors. So I’m gonna do everything in my power to make that happen.
Other than that, just business as usual. If you follow us on insta you’ll see a contest coming up for this one with some cool prizes here today. I’ll update the diary with some info on it later in case anyone here is also on insta and might want to give it a shot. Thanks for the support on this one growmies. All the kind words views and likes have been great. I hope she finishes out to par. See ya next week!!
Well, the flush is well on the way. I halved all the nutrients this week pretty for final flush. I’ll probably give her a dose of clean fruits tomorrow for a couple days and call this grow a wrap.
I would think the cold temps at night sped up finishing, however the big one is ready to come down too. She will get the chop tomorrow. Trichomes are showing some amber. Not too much. Just about where I like them. Hairs are all curling in.
All in all I couldn’t be happier with how this grow has gone thus far. We’re at the finish line so I think she should make it. That’s about all for this week folks. We will wet trim her and get some pictures, then give her the chop and get some more. Thanks for following along. We will have the harvest up next!
Here we are ladies and gentleman. The end of quite the battle. I will admit right now, this was one of the toughest and most fun grows we have done. She’s stunning. Exactly what I was hoping this would look like when it was done.
This grow was hell on wheels. She blew up quick, looked amazing, held tough. Couldn’t ask for more out of a genetic that this. Smells amazing. I have the luck of knowing what she’s gonna taste like cause her big sister came down first. And man oh man is this blueberry yummy. If you’ve not grown Spliff, do it. I’ve not found a bad one yet.
On to the nutrients! Greenbuzzliquids came through. I had some battles I won’t lie and say I didn’t. Organics and hydro don’t like each other. They just don’t. This was the same but in a tolerable way. The pH swings were the only issues I had. Performance never let down. I didn’t have jets or pumps to clog, so I can’t speak for that. Once flowering hit hard these nutes worked amazing. She was using them to the point it might as well been coco coir and a half gallon res I made would hold all day. Then I’d have to refill anyway so the end was actually better than the beginning. Smooth sailing so long as I kept her topped off. I’d do this grow again with the same breeder and same nutes without fears.
Well, that’s it folks. Nothing more to see here until the girl drys and we get the final numbers. Thank you all so much for following along this journey. It’s been super fun. I appreciate all the support not only from GreenBuzzLiquids, spliff, and growdiaries, but the community as a whole. Everyone had something good to say about this the whole time. It really kept us motivated. Thank you all.
Don’t forget to check out the great contest on Instagram we’re holding for this lady too!!!

@BudXs, Yeah, this was training in a pinch. I’m gonna drill some holes through the lid so I can train from there. That was just what I left her to work with when I went to work.
@Mrs_Larimar, Thank you so much. This whole thing has been a real experience. I don’t know if I’ll ever do another, but I think we’re gonna make it to the finish line on this one.
Not going to lie, I’m in the solo cup contest too, and I sincerely hope you make top 3, this is such a cool setup and I can’t wait to see the finished product!
@PremiumNamaste,
I’ve pulled this one from the contest. Some felt it wasn’t legal. So we pulled it, made adjustments, and will finish this on the sidelines. Follow along, the finale will be priceless.
