Got bored, why not just plant a bunch of seeds in solo cups anyway.
July 18 -
The seeds: six photoperiod seeds from my Laughing Buddha Clone 2019 (II), induced by a nearby industrial flood lamp. My alltime favourite strain, a high yielder, perfect for a bunch of mystery seeds. I won’t list Barney’s Farms because of the source of the seeds, but Buddha is Thai x Jamaican.
The lineup: each with a different amendment mix as listed. Every seed gets one shot to germinate in a peat pod, no mulligans. So, a failed seed to sprout is also a failed attempt at a mix. All six fail, diary is deleted. I poked many holes on the bottom and side of each cup with a thumbtack, easily 100 hundreds each.
No. One - 1 Perlite: 1 Worm Castings
No. Two - 1 Perlite: 1 Worm Castings: 3 HP Pro Mix
No. Three - 1 Perlite: 1 Worm Castings: 1 Alfalfa Meal Compost: 2 HP Pro Mix
No. Four - 1 Perlite: 1 Worm Castings: 2 ASB Greenworld Black Earth: 1 HP Pro Mix
No. Five - 1 Perlite: 1 Worm Castings: 2 ABS Sheep Manure Compost: 1 HP Pro Mix
No. Six - 1 Perlite: 1 Outdoor Soil

Just waiting for germination. Currently inside under LED/fluorescent lighting.
My thinking: its really late to start. Truthfully, this is just because I got bored - I’m not really trying. I basically used amendment I would be composting now that I’ve changed to Gaia Green product in my other grows, and six of many Buddha bag seeds I unfortunately got.
I don’t think you really want the plant to fill the cup and start to struggle. My experience with multi-plant sharing same pot scenarios is that once it starts to get compacted you have diminished returns. So, I will give some time to reach out and explore the cups, then as the space starts to fill with roots it will be flower time. Buddha has a three week stretch so there will be plenty of pre-flower growth. I shouldn’t have to feed or muck around at all in the short veg., although I expect some of the potential seedlings to be overnuted.

Was going to be a hot day today, plenty of UV, so time to learn to survive if any beans are actually emerging. Other than perhaps pulling them inside during a projected thundershower, time to cook the germinating soil today. This will be the regular vegging spot into the fall, it can’t sustain a full visible public cannabis grow, but can grow a few solo cups for a couple weeks at intense full sunlight without suspicion.
I allowed the solo cups to sit outside until about 10:30pm, giving an hour or two of rest period, then I moved them back inside to the LED tent to get extra lit time.

Back outside this morning.
Looks like I have life. The Reverse Kramer, “I’m IN the contest!” First (perhaps only) to emerge is No. 2, the HP Pro Mix, worm castings, and perlite mix. If any were to appear, this is a good cup for an attempt.
Look 👀, I grew wild flowers and sunflowers too.
High of 28 Degrees Celsius, daytime length of 15hours16minutes.

Well, well, well. Ba boom. Laughing Buddha, as expected, is like Beast Mode: OFF [ON]
Looks like 6/6 may make it and we have a true sample size with many mediums. Great catch at the end of the day, No. 1 was snagged in the peat pod mesh, I was wondering why it hadn’t popped out. I fixed it.
Another lesson, I have them in a tray with no holes with the vision of nutes or run off cosharing amongst pots, and the wicking action absorbing. My goodness, I underestimated the wicking action and they really absorbed all the run off. It was going to be HOT today so I left an amount of water in the tray to cool them and absorb, it worked, but they are all soaked and heavy. No. 6 in particular got most of the water, the yard Earth. This was likely more to do with the levelness of the tray on the ground.
Projected high was 29 degrees Celsius, daytime length is 15hours14minutes. Looks like thunderstorms and heavy rain tomorrow so the Secret Six will move inside after it becomes dark for an hour outside, for a constant light cycle for the next night/day.

Rain and high humidity as expected. Sleepover! The various strains are having fun, I’ve had to tell them to keep it down a few times. All six Buddha solo seedlings seem to be alive. Who invited the little kids? Am I right?
Trying to keep this production on the down low 🙊 but there is benefit to some collusion so I am interested in how other Laughing Buddha seedlings do in this type of challenge.

Thus ends week 1. Its going to be a nice day. I wanted to show the plants that I’m a fun grower so we played some hide and seek outside to get acclimated to the yard - I won.
Projected high is 29 degrees Celsius, the daytime length is 15hours10minutes.
Dude. . . Bringing the A game as always. A hidden off grid contender BudXs style. Love it! Thanks for the kind words sir. We sure give it our best! Awesome grow. Killer diary!
