Week 1. Vegetation
I decided to switch it up from the autoflower and try a photo period plant. I wanted something with heavy grape smell and hopefully i hit the mark. I will be growing in Roots organic 707 soil. I will be using the roots organic dry fertilizer trio (Uprising grow, foundation, and bloom). I will be topping these girls and sticking to a consistent feeding schedule until the last 4 weeks of flower. I am hoping to get a heavy yield off these plants. I am thinking i will shoot for 3 nice big plants. I will be growing with the spider farmer sf2000 in a closet. My first grow is still holding up my closet so i apologize for doing this prematurely but idk if you can tell... IM FRIGGEN EXCITED!

My first grow is finally finished. I can finally breathe a breath of fresh air. SCREW THAT! I've had enough of that amateur crap! Its time to get over a half pound + out of this closet. These seeds were put in a paper towerl LESS THAN 24 hours ago. They are already sprouting! I will take this as a sign of future success. I also got a bit carried away and ordered some amherst sour diesel that i'm tempted to grow along side these. We will see. Anyway I will sow these seeds within the next few hours. Seeds were placed in soil 3:00 PM 8/23/2020. God speed! All plants are germinated and successfully sprouting. Some later than others. Thanks for checking this out and watch me rock this grow! 💪 Leave a like or a follow! I will be updating every week from when I placed these in soil! (8/23/2020) (Light is @ 40% power)

These seeds are officially 1 week old since sowed in soil. No changes so far. Only water when dry. The ones in the 2 gallon smart pots are visibly bigger than the ones in the chinese fabric pots. Maybe i misjudges how much soil i used for them I'm not sure. None the less not an issue. A bit of stretch from a couple of them. Had to put more soil in and prop them up better. I'm also getting some of the slightest bit of leaf curling. Could be from fast growth or from light stress. The stretch makes me believe its the fast growth. Anyway they look healthy from what a novice like me can tell. Thanks for checking out my diary. Leave a like and a follow if you enjoy it! I update every week (Sunday)

Welcome to the start of week 3. Plants are officially 2 weeks since sowed. Have a small PH issue. It is a bit high. Will be watering with a lower PH next water. Decided to remove the runt of the batch. I think 5 plants would have been too many for my grow space. Other than that plants look healthy and are growing nicely.

I want to top my plants but am new to training. How does it work? Will my plants stop getting taller if I top? When should I top? If I did top now how many top sites would I have? The photo for this question is today (day 18) Thanks in advance.

https://www.cocoforcannabis.com/topping-cannabis-plants-why-when-how/ This should give you some answers. Personally, I top depending on a mix of node number and height, usually around node 5. - Since it's your fiirst time, you should expect it to stop growing for a week or so.. It might be faster if you get lucky and do a good job at it, but statistically you won't so don't worry too much if it halts growth for a while.. It'll start growing again once it's healed up. Good luck with your first topping. ^_^

Welcome ladies and gentleman to the start of week 4. Plants are officially 21 days since sowed. I topped these plants yesterday (day 20). They all seem to be responding well. Each plant has 5 sets of nodes. Going to top dress before the next watering. The plants look very healthy. They def exploded with growth this last week. Hopefully the topping doesn't hinder that too much. They also smell like gas. If i keep my closet door closed it will become noticeable without getting close. Thanks for checking out my grow. Hi, Growing in soil, ahs the big advantage, that the soil buffers the PH. If you use ready mixed soil or amended peatmoss tehre is always a buffer ( magnesiumcarbonate MgCO3 CaO).... this brings always the right Ph back to you---- Its called " dolomitelome" too so dont worry , while growing in soil for the right PH I mix my soils by myself and using magnesiumcarbonate as addition

Welcome ladies and gentleman to the start of week 5. Plants are officially 28 days since sowed. Plants are looking nice and healthy except for the far left plant. Has some spots (better pics of it in previous week). Otherwise they all are growing beyond my expectations. I am thinking of going for 3-4 more weeks of veg but that would make for a late December harvest and idk if I can wait that long. So I may transplant give a little bit to recover and flip in a couple weeks. Thx for checking out my grow once again if you like it leave me a follow or a like! I really appreciate it. Hiya there Nick, looks like a perfect veg so far, congrats on that ! you're ready to transplant now, but you can get away with keeping them in smaller pots as long as you add a chelation agent that breaks down the roots a bit. Transplant now and it's a non issue though, go direct in the final pot or take intermediate steps based on your planning and that's it really. Hope this helps! 🚀

Welcome ladies and gentleman to the start of week 6. Plants are officially 35 days since sowed. A lot happened. I transplanted 2 of the plants on 9/24/20. Went from 2 gallons to 5 gallons. I filled the one in the 3 gallon all the way up. I didn't have enough soil for another 5 gallon so I'm leaving the one on the far left in a 2 gallon. I am having trouble raising my light these plants grew beyond my expectations. Going to have to rig something up at work so i can put it on top of the shelf in my closet and raise the lights a bit more. I will be switching to flower today or tomorrow. I simply do not have too much more room to work with. Very happy with how these have been growing out. Wish I had thicker stems but I'm going to have to get by with a shorter then wanted veg.

Welcome ladies and gentleman to the start of week 7. Plants are officially 42 days since sowed. Plants just woke up from their 2nd night of 12 hours off. They are officially in flower. That makes a 40 day veg. They are all just exploding with growth. Luckily I found a way to raise my light even more because they are pushing over 3 feet tall. They all are hungry for nitrogen so I gave them all 2 tsp before the last watering. The plants have a heavy citrus smell with some other smells I can’t quite put my finger on. I have my hopes set high for this flower cycle.

Can anyone give some tips on defoliation? Is it bad to do it now that I've just started flower? Was thinking of just hitting the lower area of the canopy and leaves covering bud sites?

yes take a little off here and there, and take a bit more off the next week or two, you got the right idea to get light to those flower sites, the reason i suggest breaking it up is you dont want to stress your plants out, they are doing good and it is a way to send smaller shocks to the plant. some people do it all at once some times with results of a droopy looking plant. then take it as a deficiency , it is just like feeding nutrients a little goes a long way. hope this helps.

What should i do to get Relative Humidity down? My RH is about 80% when the closet doors are closed and the lights are off. I have a fan blowing inside the closet 24/7. I also have a small dehumidifier inside of there. I cant manage to get RH down unless i open the doors.

Exactly what you said... you can't get the humidity down unless you open the doors... or get some sort of dehumidifier... or set-up an exhaust fan to bring humid air out and dry air in... they have fans that have humidistats and thermostats to turn the fan on and off when it's needed. Proper humidity is very important for a number of factors. Too much humidity and you will possibly over feed your plants. Too little humidity and they can starve. The temperature is so important, too. Keep it dialed in to prevent mold and mildew. The plants are sitting in a pot of regularly damp soil = humidity source + the plants suck water up through the roots and stems and release about 90% of it into the air = so much humidity you need to get rid of it on a constant basis... especially in flowering stages. Good luck!😀

Welcome ladies and gentleman to the start of week 8. Plants are officially 49 days since sowed. (9th day of flower) TONS of stretching. Plants grew over a foot each. Except the one on the left. It is rootbound and drinking a half gallon everyday. (The only one I didn't transplant into a 5 gallon) White pistils on almost every node. I think I am starting to see tiny flowers. Hopefully this time next week they will be pretty visible. Not much more to report. It is becoming more difficult for me to take nice photos. I have to stand on a chair to get better ones so bear with me until next week.

WIll start bloom nutrients next watering and then feed them one final time on the 5th week of flower. Have my hopes set high for a successful flower. Im starting to clean up the bottom of the plants. I have a very full canopy otherwise. Having an issue with white balance on my phone. Pictures coming out much nicer than what they are being uploaded for some reason. Cant figure out why

Welcome ladies and gentleman to the start of week 10! Plants are officially 63 days from sow. (23rd day of flower) Flowers seem a bit small for 23 days. Could be because I let it stretch, could be because of the genetics. Regardless they look like nice little flowers. Getting a decent amount of trichomes on them. Some leaves changing color hopefully because of "fall color" and not deficiency. Looking about 7 weeks out from harvest. Thanks for checking my grow out. Do i start flushing at the start of the 5th week of flower? Im using slow release dry amendments (top dressings). I heard that you have to start flushing these types of nutrients out a bit earlier than you would with salt based nutrients. Is this true?

Welcome ladies and gentleman to the start of week 11! Plants are officially 70 days old from sow. (30th day of flower) Wow I wish all of you guys could smell what I'm smelling. Its a heavy grape smell. Almost a mix between natural and artificial. I've never smelt bud like this. You can smell it from outside my room. I suspect once these buds mature I'll have an even more pungent strain. One of my plants looks quite hungry for PK. (Yellowing) I was hoping to get away without adding nutrients for another week, however I think the plant will very much benefit from a feeding. Anyway enjoy the bud p0rn this week. One of the plants is heavy purpling and it is my favorite to take pictures of.

Welcome ladies and gentleman to the start of week 12! Plants are officially 77 days since sow. (37th day of flower) At the point where my patience is getting a bit unbearable. I am constantly peaking inside this closet. Pistils are finally starting to mature but I still have a good 3-5 weeks left. Happy with how the flowers are turning out. Plant on the right has much more trichomes then the others but will yield less. All these plants should yield more then my last grow alone. If I get over 100 grams then I'm happy. Not much to report otherwise. I ended up purchasing a nugsmasher. I may save the rootbound plant purely for smashing but we'll see. Enjoy more bud p0rn. All photos were taken today.

If I wanted to Rosin press my cannabis when its dry would I get more yield off a plant that has more trichomes? Does more trichomes visible by the eye also mean a higher % of thc?

NobodysBudsanswered grow question 4 years ago
it is strongly correlated but not 1:1. All thc isn't in the triches, but lots of it is. If that makes sense.... and that proportion can be impacted by genetics. your %-yield will likely correlate more strongly with actual THC%. But, still not 1:1. more potent plant, typically a bigger yield... rosin isn't 100% thc, so other oils in the plant may not have same exact mechanics, so there will still be some volatility between yield and actual %thc.

Welcome ladies and gentleman to the start of week 13. Plants are officially 84 days from sow. (44th day of flower). I am reaching the 2 week mark. Just watering with distilled water non ph'd (like I have most of the grow) Plants are really colorful. And the smell is wonderful. Heavy grape smell. Worst part about it is that I cannot share it with all of you this truly is a plant you must try once! Looking at these plants a lot and starting to dread all the work I'm going to have to do. Hopefully I can convince someone to give me so help with all this trimming. Thanks for checking this grow out once again! 👌🙌

Welcome to the start of week 14. Plants are officially 91 days from sow. (51th day of flower) We are within 2 week territory. Plants are looking beautiful and putting on some density. Smell like always is amazing. Love waking up in the morning to this pleasant grapey scent. Last week I mentioned how I was dreading the work ahead of me. This week I've been sad that I'm getting so close to chop. I've really been loving these plants like how SpongeBob loves to fry cook. 3 things I could have improved on this grow: (1) DLI - I let these girls stretch much more then they needed to out of fear of heat stress. The leaf curling in early pictures was so minimal and I was such a tweak about it that they could have probably filled out much more instead of stretching so tall. (2) Amending - When I switched to flower I completely cut out my grow nutrients. This led me to what I believe was a Nitrogen issue a few weeks into flower. It could have also been a PK issue from a late bloom feeding. Organics has left me scratching my head more then anything but regardless I am happy with the results. I think next time I will transplant into amended medium and see if that makes a difference since the nutrients are more spread then when scratching through the top soils. (3) PH - How do you PH distilled water when it has nothing in it? How do you PH water to begin with if General Hydroponics PH up and PH down are non organic? These are challenges I faced throughout the grow and to be honest. I just rolled with it. I never PH'd my water and I just let the soil do all the tough work. I will do this for my next grow as well. Thank you all for continuing to follow this grow. Hope it brings you joy like it has me and maybe inspires you to try this strain out for yourself. Next week may be the last week for a few that I post as it is so close to harvest. I'll keep everyone updated.

Apologies for the delay. This grow is finished and chopped. Plants were flowering for 8 weeks and 2 days total. All trichomes are a mix of mostly milky. Some clears and very little amber. The smell coming off is great. Love walking in my room, although, now it reeks like chlorophyll. I think I'm right in line with good temperatures and humidity. These plants have already been drying a tad bit. Should make for a 2 week dry. Pretty disappointed with lower bud development as to be expected. I let these girls stretch so damn much. Top sites are much thicker than I imagined and I should still be happy with the yield. This is the second last post until this diary is complete. Last one will be harvest with weight and reviews. Thank you everyone for all the support and the likes. I am truly humble.

I really enjoyed growing this strain. I hope I can get my hands on it again and take what I've learned and apply it. I didnt have any herm's or anything of the sort. I think Ethos really makes some great genetics. This stuff gets me really good. If i had prevented stretching's, and trained a little bit, I probably could have gotten a half pound out of here. Regardless 5.5 ounces is respectable for a 2nd grow if you ask me. Curing turned out very well. My whole place stinks when I burp these jars. Im OBSESSED with this Rosin. Best smelling and best tasting dabs I've ever had so far. Hope you all enjoyed this diary. I really loved sharing how this strain came out. I hope it comes out even better for all of you guys!
