So im obviously a bit late starting this diary. Veg has gone well and the durban is over 2m tall and the mataro blue is about a foot shorter but alot bushier. As they are outdoor they have been veging pretty much all summer and are about 4 months old. its the 9th august today so hoping flowering will be starting soon. both ladies have been getting a stretch on so we could be seeing some white hairs any day.. they are both photoperiod and outdoor in the uk so we will see what we manage to get with the weather... fingers crossed for a hot September..

Does anyone have experience with when outdoor photoperiod plants will begin to show signs of flowering in the uk? When will they be likely to stop stretching and start flowering? theyre just getting big and i dont want to top them so close to flowering.

She should be ready to flower anytime now so keep your eye out as this month goes on. The daylight times are about to get shorter, so she should be ready to be spitting out flowers anytime now. Always prefer autos outdoors just to remove this issue, especially in UK when it can be very unpredictable. Shes a nice big girl though, looks good.

So to help combat future mold, reduce the height a bit and get better light to the future buds i have tried tieing down the arms to sort of open it up to more light and airflow. i have only done this to the mataro blue as it had very dense foliage in the middle and is just bushy in general. the durban has been defoliated a bit for the same reasons. hopefully this helps and wasnt a stupid move

Weather isn't so great at the moment. Lots of rain. Had a few slugs so have put down some slug pellets around but not too close to the plants. The branches are nearly holding their position after being tied down. Still no flowers but must be coming soon

Had a big storm last week and a few branches broke off. Had to be removed. Did a quick fix and support with duct tape. Not happy, bit of a shit week. Still no flowers. Getting late in the year now

We have started flowering finally, and things are looking good given the very average weather we have been having. I have been reading up about mycorrhizal fungi and have added the tnc mycorrhydro to each plant when I watered. Hopefully it will help keep them nice and healthy. It contains a few species of mycorrhizal fungi and a few species of beneficial bacteria as well as some other things.

Weather is a bit better this week. Flowers are coming along nicely. Have found a few mouldy bits lower down. I have removed them and hopefully it won't spread and will get better with the better weather this week

Great weather this week. Flowers are doing much better on the durban poison than the mataro blue. I gave them a top dressing of guano some more soil and then some mulch. They look happy. Must be about 7-8ft tall

We have had a mix of rain, sun and wind this week. Night temperatures have dropped from about 12c to about 5c.... Flowers are looking great on the durban and not much yellowing on the leaves but the mataro blue has alot of yellowing and the flowers are growing much slower. I really am impressed with the durban. She looks happy. I put it down to the storm we had earlier this year that damaged alot of the stems of the mataro blue. Gave them all some good bacteria with the food this week

☔ It's not been a nice week. Wet and cold. Things are looking good given the conditions. No mold yet, have been giving the plants a good shake tryna keep them from rotting. Fed with good bacteria again to help keep them mold free. This is always the gamble in the UK. They just have to survive another three weeks

It has rained for at least 70 percent of the week. I am very impressed with the genetics of the durban. She is filling out nicely with no signs of any mold or damage. I think she needs another two weeks, weather dependant. The mataro blue is comin along but alot slower and seems quite leafy in the bud structure. I have seen one or two spots of mold on it that I have removed. All in all I think feeding it the good bacteria (particularly bacillus subtilis) has had an effect on the resistance to mold. Apparently it produces almost like an antibiotic to keep away bud rot. And it best applied a few weeks before rain which luckily is what I did. That's all I have to report

So harvest was forced a couple of weeks early due to excessive rain and finding the first signs of mold in places. Overall only about 5% had turned moldy but I know another two weeks would have boosted the yield big time as she was a big plant. Overall I'm happy with this grow given that I'm battling the UK weather

Quite frosty buds for an outdoor. Relatively Hardy strain. Good yield although a little leafy in the structure of the buds. Took a long time to trim. Ended up with around 10% having to be thrown away due to mold in the harsh UK weather

It had a great start to life not such a great end. Forced to harvest due to mold. (ended up throwing away 10%) it was quite leafy compared to the durban and I think that's where water was getting trapped from the rain and causing the bud rot. I'm glad I didn't leave them longer. Overall not a bad effort for the uk weather.

@junglistbandelero,took a 3 day trip to Vegas last September got back and my 6 foot gdp was devastated.. think I got 135 usable grams.. and that was just the little nugs.. just imagine the weight if I'd have got them fat buds and that 8 inch long monster on top smh
Jerrylarrydalton
Jerrylarrydaltoncommented5 years ago
@junglistbandelero,careful though. Every time I do photos, that get that big. I lose half my bud to mold... gd worms fuck me every time.. dont be scared to dig inside the buds every once in a while to check.. them mfs will eat the whole inside of a softball sized bud before it shows any signs of problems.. i would check every day for signs it only takes about 2 days to lose a quarter pound from them fuckers believe me lol..

why would you cut the tops?
smokeyspartacus
smokeyspartacuscommented5 years ago
@junglistbandelero, ok in that case just breake them before they get too wody, maybe around 40cm from the top. they will be ok and heal up.
junglistbandelero
junglistbandelerocommented5 years ago
@smokeyspartacus, i dont want to but they can be seen too easily as i have veged for too long. providing they dont get much taller i should be fine

Shitty. Bamboo stakes or tomato cages help a lot on outdoor grows, and autos are much more reliable finishers in northern areas. Hopefully the rest of the plant makes it to the finish line for you.
