Fo' Twenny's Zkittles Auto from Seedsman

Fo' Twenny here with another grow diary to share with all of you! This time we are running Seedsman Zkittles Auto and I am excited because I have never tried a Zkittles strain before. I hope I get a nice fruit candy pheno! I am curious to see how this breeder's version of the Zkittles differs from the Monster Zkittles were going to be running in the photoperiod SOG. 8/9: There are 21 plants in the veg tent, right now. 17 photoperiod seedlings, 3 autoflower seedlings, and an auto in mid bloom. The deets: Started in Jiffy peat pellets with Roots Organics 707 filling the Solo style plastic cups under and around the peat pellets. The soil was top dressed with .25 tsp of each: Azos, Mycos, and Re-Charge. Let's go microbes! 8/15: Germination was a success We have a baby sprout! Happy and healthy, but only has one cotyledon. 8/17/20 - today, I gracefully knocked this poor baby into a sticky pad. I was able to peel her off, but she didn't make it out unscathed. I tried bandaging her up, but I fully expect that I will have to germinate a new seed. I figure it's worth a shot see if I can mend her back to health. I enjoy a good challenge and I feel I should do what I can to help her. This is not a good start to this little Zkittlez Autoflower's second week of life, but 💩 happens. Fo' Twenny here with an update on the our Zkittlez Autoflower from Seedman Seeds! 8/23: She started wilting heavily and I decided to cut my losses and avoid wasting more time. I sowed a replacement seed from the same pack. I added some Mother Earth 50/50 Coco/Perlite mix around the sides and tops of the peat pellets. 8/26 Update: she has sprouted. Fo' Twenny here with an update on the our Zkittlez Autoflower from Seedman Seeds! 9/5 - Day 14: She has been growing steadily since she sprouted 8/25. She is healthy and green. Today, I transplanted from the 16 oz solo cup into an 8" tall one gallon Active Aqua 6" x 6" Square Pot. I innocculate at the root zone using .5 tsp Mycos from Extreme Gardening .5 tsp Recharge. I sprinkled some White Dutch Clover seed around the top of the pot for a cover crop. She is 12 days old now and technically in her second week of life. Before starting week 4 of this diary, I will make future updates in this week. So keep an eye out and check back her for updates until she has completed her 3rd week. BAD NEWS: Half of the blue diodes have gone out in the TMLAPY light. This light was actually gifted to me shortly after a friend purchased it from Amazon and realized it was too small for their space. It seemed to be serving it's purpose well for vegging photos and running bumper crops of autoflowers but it failed only four months after the warranty period ended! Weak-Sauce! Welp, looks like it's time to upgrade the 24"x48" tent to Samsung LM301H boards. I ordered a 320w straight single piece heatsink with 3 boards from Geeklight. I went with the 3k spectrum and switchable UV/IR since all my autoflowers bloom under this light. No pistils showing yet. So, I decided to take the bottom 2 nodes off and defoliated foliage at the lower end of the growth shoots (AKA lollipopping). My intent is to encourage her to focus on upward growth. I have never tried these pruning te hniques on an auto. I am interested to see how she responds. I akso stopped use of SuperThrive and RapidStart. GOOD NEWS: The 320w Geeklight came in today. I went with the 3k spectrum lm301h chips and switchable UV/IR since all my autoflowers bloom under this light. She received approximately 16 oz of nutrient solution. After 15 minutes I added 16 oz of plain tap H2O run through x2 KDF filters pH to 6.4. If you're just joining us, we have had this mostly Indica auto-flowering cultivar growing alongside our photo-dependant cultivars SOG style in our 48"x 24" VIVOSUN veg-tent. She has been a very vigorous fast growing cultivar! Doing some minor defoliation as fan leaves get larger and cover lower bud sites. I take no more than two fan leaves at a time and no more than once per week. I also selectively remove lower bud sites that will not receive light. The goal is to optimize plant growth without taking too much at a time. In my experience, too heavy of defoliation and/or defoliation done too frequently or with improper timing can cause stunting. Also, I realized my BlueLab Conductivity Meter has the option to switch to EC. Since EC is the most accurate way to measure the nutrient concentration in a solution, I will now be measuring and reporting EC readings rather than PPM. I mixed 12 gallons of solution for all the plants I have running in my photperiod SOG.16 oz of that was then measured and fed to this cultivar. 👩‍🔬NUTRIENT SOLUTION👩‍🔬 ⬇️Mixing Rundown⬇️ - The solution starts with 12 gal tap H2O through two kdf filters mixed in a 36 gallon reservoir. The solution is applied via wand sprayer powered by a submersible pump attached to a garden hose. Nutrients and additives are added to the reservoir in the order listed below and thoroughly mixed using a plastic stir spoon. The reservoir is oxygenated by four 4 inch air stones. I think she will be the largest of the 3 autoflowers I have running and she just keeps growing bigger! She is developing rapidly with a very respectable bud structure. She already smells very sweet with just a hint of skunk! I have continued selective defoliation I am feeding once a week. Between feeds, if needed, I will give a light watering with pH adjusted water. I give just enough to hold her through next feed. Probably about 4 -12 oz depending on how close to feed day it is. I use dry top soil as a first indicator and check the weight of the pot to determine if additional water is needed. Any advice, suggestions, or constructive criticisms are always welcome. I am trying a new format for the weekly summary portion of my diary. Let me know what ya'll think! 👃 AROMA: She smells amazing! Sweet grape candy and gas! I can't wait to smoke these flowers! ❇️ BUD STRUCTURE: She is forming long spear shaped colas. Her buds are looking like they will end up being pretty dense. 🎨 Color: She is starting to fade. She is mostly lime green with some yellow and purpling on leaves. 🌿 STEM, STRETCH, & INTERNODES: She's got nice thick stems and internodes are tight. ✂️ TRAINING/PRUNING: I am being very selective with her defoliation. I remove no more than 10%-15% of foliage at any one time and I space out defoliation with a minimum of 3 days between sessions. I remove leaves facing inward towards the main stem in the center. I typically only remove older leaves 3-4 nodes below the tip of the growth shoot unless they're dead. The goal is to remove leaves that are blocking light and airflow withiut taking so much that the plant is stressed to avoid stunting. The defoliation helps increase light penetration and can help prevent overgrowth that can lead to botrytis or other fungal infections later in flower. I have been doing some training using LST techniques to gently bend her stems to evenly fill her space without overcrowding. I am planning to use some soft green training wire ties to tie her down to open her up to help further improve airflow and light penetration. ❄️TRICHOMES/RESIN PRODUCTION: Resin glands developing all over calyxes and banana leaves. 🚿 WATER/FEED: I have continued with a light bidiurnal misting of White Dutch Clover cover crop . This, in conjunction with running lower temps (New AC), has seemed to have drastically increased feeding intervals. My plants are needing much less water than in previous runs. I typically give her one feed per week with light watering as needed between feeds. I try my best to "read" my garden. The amount of water between feeds depends on how soon the next feed will be. I feed the garden as a whole and this run I have been generally spacing feeds out about 4-6 days when the the first plant shows beginning signs of wilt (slight droop of lower fan leaves). 📝 OBSERVATION/NOTES: She doesnt appear to have any signs of stress, deficiency, or toxicity. She looks very happy and healthy! Breeder states she should finish in 75 days from seed, but I I am thinking it will be a bit longer.
