Not sure what kind of genetics Ripper seeds put together but of all the other Sour D strains I have seen, this is definitely one of the densest growing strains I have run. It has recovered well from being topped and the massive fan leaves are shading all of the lower branches. Hardly anything can be LST trained as all of the branches are tough and rigid (cant even pinch them to bend them). I am really interested in breeding/keeping this genetic line.

Grow Questions
Beangineer
Beangineerstarted grow question 4 years ago
Should I just remove the lower branches or keep them? They are getting pretty heavily shaded but I rotate the grow bag daily to expose the under canopy growth. This is the only plant I have ever not been able to LST the main Cola, I opted to top it and LST'ed the lower branches.

hey there Beangineer , see that cannabis plants are "apex dominant" meaning one main cola and lots of side colas. Most of the yield improvements you can make is by promoting lateral growth, meaning the side colas. If you pluck "branches" off , then you're removing the side colas one by one... you'll get a stick shaped plant in the end... basically you're hurting your yield by quite a lot for every branch you prune. I wouldnt remove them just because they're in the shade. Anyway when you close the grow box there's hardly any shade, which is the point of the grow box in the first place. What you can do is use a plant tie to gently arrange the branches in a way where they're more in the light, that's LST and that promotes latteral growth meaning you'll increase your yield. Hope this helps ! 🚀

@Beangineer, It is, you'll see.. 👌👍 I had them in scrog and 10 weeks in bloom i think. I had the giggles all the time, causing some really inapropriate situations in the office😂.. so at a second run I would give her two weeks more🤘.. Mine had a decent stretch, around 50-60%.. but look out for a grower named Ripper. He gave her 3 weeks in veg and changed to 12/12.. exploded to 170cm 🤯.... Great Taste and I was high as a kite😂👌. @@OimRausch, thanks! It came highly recommended and the ratings/reviews here on Grow Diaries are really positive. Any pointers/tips for success with this particular strain? Thanks!

@CRiSPrGrow, yeah I'm going to try and give them some more training so they get some light, they are not scrawny by any means so I know they are processing a lot of water/nutes every day.

Looking nice and lush. Very compact growth!

@FoTwenny, I am a little scared that this plant is so dense I may not be able to train it very well, it is getting stiff lower branches already. It is definitely really enjoying my grow configuration so far. I will definitely try to clone or seed this one for the archive!
