I found 5 Cakez ( Zkittlez X Wedding Cake) seeds in some flower I purchased. I thought it would be a fun lil project to germ them, fully aware that what was in the bag might not have been what was advertised but the flower produced a great smoke. So I'm trying to recreate the experience, if all fails it'll still be a great learning experience.
4 seeds failed to fully germination leaving this lone survivor. All hopes are riding on it at this point.
Week 1 - The 'CakeZ is looking healthy in its SOLO cup, it sprouted out a weird leaf formation early which had me a little worried going into week 2 but I was just happy it sprouted in the first place.
SO week 2 with the 'Cakez'
That odd leaf formation had me a little worried about the future of this plant, seeing that the genetics are somewhat unknown. However, week 2 has shown explosive growth for the plant and I'm even more excited to see how this plant turns out.
I Transplanted early into 3 gal pots just for the mere fact that it was transplant day. It could've stayed in the cup a little longer but it clearly didn't slow its growth.
I will be using the MarsHydro TSW2000 from veg until flower and the plants seem to be responding to the light well.
Fed 1st week of fox farm nutes to my garden, diluted down a bit. I've seen no nute burn and the garden seems to be responding really well to the feeding.😏
Topped the plant once this week and it recovered well and still has tremendous prolific growth. The way the plant is growing, it's making me really hope its a female plant. The fan leaves and main stem have developed some nice sturdiness.
I began the LST this week for the plant. I wanted to mainline it like the other plants in the garden however, seeing that its a random strain I didn't want to put too much stress on it and risk the possibility of it herming..
Plant is a heavy Heavy Drinker though, had to water 3x this week and I water to run off and only water if the soil is bone dry.
Overall great week and look forward to the oncoming weeks.
FIM'd 3x this week because im just loving the growth on this random. Still blowing up like crazy and still drinking all those nutes with zero issues. Plant has really filled out the pot with its prolific growth after the low stress training and FIMing
After the 3 FIMs i did in the previous week, the plant has continued with its prolific growth. I'm still heavily training her, bending every 2-3 days to which it responds to so well. PRE-FLOWERS HAVE SHOWN! and ITS A GIRL. Very proud of this plant, actually, I'm proud of the entire grow. Ill continue to monitor this random for hermie tendencies, I believe that's the next major hurdle going forward being that all the other plants are from feminized seeds.
Not much happened this week with her. Only just a lil bit more bushy. I kid the plant doesn't stop bushing out, it might take over majority of the tent by time I flip to flower.
So completely following the fox farms soil feeding schedule means you should flush the soil as they recommend. The grow showed a couple issues with the leaves last week, you can see the discolored leaves in the pictures. Therefore, flushed the soil using the Sledgehammer and pH filtered water, the plants immediately bounced back and now look completely healthy, I still have to do some defoliating going into the following weeks, the canopy is looking rather thick soooo maybe a lil lollipopping might be in order
The previous beastly growth of this bag seed had to be tamed before flower week. I needed sufficient airflow through this canopy and as you can see from the pictures, IT WAS VERY BUSHY. The plant has really responded great to the LST, Topping and FIMMING, shown by the branch networking in the pictures above
-As i did with my other plants in the tent; I cut the recommended FOX FARM nute feed in half because I was experiencing nute burn on all my plants. They've been responding well to the new feed and they all look pleased.
-Very cathartic defoliation sesh actually, and I was able to see the actual potential this girl had going. The node stacking looks great, so I'm really excited to see the bud development during flower.
-I'm really big on the VPD so ensuring there's proper airflow in the tent is a big thing. Intending on running a 1.0 VPD through flower as well so this defoliation is really a key step in preventing mildew on my plants.
The CAKEZ is now the thirstiest plant in the tent, had to water a whole day before the other plants. It just wasn't having it, it looked very depressed. These plants can be so finicky unfortunately lol. They'll look so depressed and droopy the second they go thirsty, i must've been spoiling them too much. Nothing but love though.
At the end of the week the lights were flipped to 12/12 and now expecting some great bud development. :D :D :D
Hey guys week 2 flower check in,
Flower nutes started.
She's stretching.. around 6-7 inches of stretching within the first week
had to Defoliate the lower canopy again to keep good airflow and to promote upwards growth, appears to be working.
looking forward to keeping you guys updated in the upcoming weeks. :D
Checking in guys,
The Cakez is doing fantastic with no signs of bananas.... so i can relax on looking for hermaphroditism
Cola and trichome development is looking great and very promising. 😇
The smell is becoming more pungent and pronounced. Looking forward to sharing the oncoming weeks with you guys😃
Well quite simply, just look at her.
Frosty, Dank and stank
she continues to pack on weight and trichomes going into the next week.
I'm starting to realize how bananas i went with the LST on this plant. Crazy plant structure and tops. :)😊😌
Looking forward to sharing the upcoming weeks😆
Mini Update week.
Not much happened this week, fed the same amount of nutes as the previous week.
Experiencing some type of deficiency shown on the leaves, flush incoming. Gotta sort that out because i think it has a couple more weeks to go into flower.😄
Hey guys sorry this update fell off..I've been really busy past couple months but let's get back on track.😤
For this week I was looking at the plants response to the prior flush. It was wearing it's fall coat really well. Those yellows and slight purple hues were popping really well.🤓
This plant has been harvested as I write this and I'm just updating the diary. See you there🙏🙏
This strain being a bag seed, blew me out the water. I nurtured that lil baby seed and I was very hopeful that it was a female. All the hard work and attention to detail paid off, I would class this as premium and if I could, I would love to grow it again and aim for a higher yield but that comes with time; I just need to find the seed from the grower. My entire tent had nute burn issues because of the overfeeding, they turned out great however and they all smoke really well. Next grow series starting in a couple weeks, and I'm thinking of doing some trainwreck strains and maybe 1 or 2 haze strains.
