9/4:
I hope to successfully germinate all 4 of the Sweet Seeds Dark Devils that they sent me.
I am keeping it really simple this run and am using my new DWC cloner to germinate. I made up 3 gallons of a de-chlorinated water in a strong solution of Endoboost Hydro and added 1/4 tsp of Superthrive per gallon. I adjusted the Ph to 6.0 and let the pump and aerator cycle the res for a few hours. I put rapid rooters into 1.25" net pots and ensured that the water level was high enough so as to just touch the bottoms of the rooters. About 10 minutes later the rooters were all nice and damp, so I planted and prayed.
I've just got a 9w pinkish grow light mounted about 5 inches above the rooters, but once they are rooted well, I'll move them into a 1020 tray with dome under 65w of mixed spectra lighting with supplemental blues. Once they've got a couple sets of leaves, I'll plant the rooters in some half-gallon biodegradable fabric bags and move them into my tiny tent under a pair of mixed spectrum QB's. They'll all have to stay in there until my current run of photo clones is done in the closet. Once space opens up in the closet, I'll plant those biodegradable bags into 3 gallon pots and move at least one of them into the closet and the others will remain in the tiny tent. Hopefully in the next 2 weeks....🙏
9/8:
3 of them rooted well and are under the dome..one straggler.
9/9:
3 of them under the dome are doing great...straggler is rooted now, but i'll give her a day or two more before i plant it.
9/10:
The straggler is rooted well now. I'll plant her into a 1/2 gallon degradable bag tomorrow and move her to the tiny tent with the other 3.
9/14:
3 of them seem WEAK...they popped with very little vigor, and are getting off to a very slow start...😕
Maybe my soil was a little too hot for them...not sure, but almost everybody else looks fine.
9/15:
The 3 slowpokes are growing, but very slowly...the 4th is almost keeping up with the rest of the seedlings.
9/17:
Not sure what to make of the 3 slow ones...kinda twisted up and shitty looking...
9/21:
1 of them is still on pace with the rest of the crop, 2 of them are still very slow and weird, and one of them is improving..slowly..
Sprayed with BoomBoom Spray.
9/22:
Same story, different day..
Sprayed with Microlife Super Seaweed.
9/23:
Nope...same ol', same ol'
9/24:
Nothing new to report...
9/25:
I moved them into my closet under 720w and changed the lights to 20/4.
9/26:
I potted up the bigger plant today and watered them all with a full dose of ONE, some boomerang, and some Microlife Super Seaweed.
9/27:
All 4 of them are flowering. The two smallest, most mutated plants stretched a few inches overnight, but still look pathetic.
That's it for week 3-
9/28:
I fed them a half-gallon each this morning. The two mutant weirdos are stretching like crazy, but are still pathetic looking. One of the shittty plants got the purple gene, but none of the other 3 did.
9/29:
I sprayed them with Boom Boom Spray and Axiom Harpin a|b proteins about an before the lights went out last night.
9/30:
I potted up all three of the slower ones in 3 gallon pots and watered them in with with a very N rich solution.
I have them under a single 120w mixed spectrum QB right now in my garage, but when I harvest the remaining photo clones in my tiny tent this weekend, they'll get to move into it.
10/1:
The one in the closet is branching well now and looking better. One of the ones I have segregated is actually starting to look kinda normal, but the other two are still the same shitty plants.
10/3:
I decided to do a little B & D on the ones in the tent..maybe they'll respond to abuse...😈
10/4:
The good one is stretching and branching well. No signs of any purple though...
I'll feed them tomorrow. That's it for week 4-
10/5:
The good one is still on par with the other plants in the garden, and might even be starting to show a little color, though not a true purp. The crappy plants in the tiny tent still have no vigor, even with 240w @ 12", heavy root and foliar feeding, and much public shaming. They really aren't worth the nutes and electric cost at this point...
10/11:
All 4 have purple genes, but not like the really dark pheno I grew before.
10/13:
I moved the best one into the tiny tent with the other 3....there's plenty of space, unfortunately...
I'll do a foliar application tonight before dark.
10/15:
Fed them and moved the fat blackberry into the tiny tent with them. Also added another 120w to the tiny tent..that's 360w in 5 sq ft = 72w per sq ft!
10/19:
Fed them. The 360w is toooooo much for them..had to raise the lights and dim the single board a little...😎
10/20:
My "fat little" Blackberry in back shows that these aren't very big plants, but they sure do stink!
10/23:
Fed them. Started on Cha ching and increased Sweet & Sticky
10/24:
Foxtailing ever since I increased to 74w/f2, but they are also fattening considerably. Still popping new pistils every day.👍
10/27:
Getting fatter even still!
11/1:
A lot of foxtailing, but they are also becoming more dense.
I decided to flush them today. I'll need the tiny tent for my new batch of seedlings in about a week
11/2:
I flushed all 4 of them with 8 gallons each of warm water and liquidsoil. Won't be long now....👍
11/5:
I put them in the dark....harvest tomorrow!
11/6:
Harvested and washed all 4 of them. They are hanging to dry and smell great!
They were all very slow to start compared to all the other strains I grew and seemed to dislike everything I was doing. Real problem children....
They were runty until about the last 2 weeks of their lives, then really packed it on and ripened quickly. I was really surprised they weighed as well as they did, but they all really fattened up with I added the other QB, bringing the total wattage to 360w in the 5 sq ft space.
Didn't keep separate weights, but the total was 168g...roughly 40g's per plant.
Final thoughts:
Of the 6 DD's I've grown over the past couple of years, they are consistently a pain in my ass, and poor-producers.. but it's top-shelf bud. It's prolly the wife's favorite flavor, so I gotta grow a little every season...
