Idecided to germinate this seed to replace the spot that had been reserved by Jenny Kush. After 2 failed germination attempts, I decided to go with something new! Seed sown 9/5. .25 ml/gal of RapidStart and .25 ml/gal of SuperThrive, Adjusted pH to 6.3. After adjusting pH I added .25 tsp of recharge. Fo' Twenny here with an update on our little Cotton Candy Cane from Emerald Triangle Seeds! 9/16 - Day 12: She is looking healthy and a beautiful shade of green. She's getting tall and growing fast! BAD NEWS: Half of the blue diodes have gone out in the TMLAPY light. This light was actually gifted to me shortly after a friend purchased it from Amazon and realized it was too small for their space. It seemed to be serving it's purpose well for vegging photos and running bumper crops of autoflowers but it failed only four months after the warranty period ended! Weak-Sauce! GOOD NEWS: So, I upgraded the 24"x48" tent to Samsung LM301H boards. I ordered a 320w straight single piece heatsink with 3 boards from Geeklight. She is a nice healthy shade of green, has tight internodal spacing, and her leaves are wide showing signs of her Indica genetics. If you're just joining us, we have had this photo-dependant 50/50 Indica/Sativa hybrid vegging in our 48"x 24" VIVOSUN tent SOG style with 20 other plants. I have been doing a lot of heavy defoliation and pruning the past week. I also made a few upgrades in the bloom tent and moved a few of the cultivars into the 8'x4' bloom tent running a 12/12 schedule. Also, I realized my BlueLab Conductivity Meter has the option to switch to EC. Since EC is the most accurate way to measure the nutrient concentration in a solution, I will now be measuring and reporting EC readings rather than PPM. I am honestly super stoked about every single plant in the garden right now. That said, I think I am probably most impressed by this 🍭🎅🏻 COTTON CANDY CANE cultivar. She is incredibly vigorous. She was started nearly a month after all the others (except the 🦍🍪 GORILLA x COOKIES) and has already caught up to some of the taller plants in the run. Special thanks to everyone at Emerald Triangle Seeds for allowing me to test some of their genetics! So far, I am absolutely impressed with her vigor and definitely want to try more from this breeder! She is almost a month behind the other plants and is almost as tall as the tallest cultivars started on 8/10. All in all, she looks amazing! I am slightly concerned she will grow too tall and I will have to train her to control her height. Who, knows? Only time will tell. The stake goes to the bottom of the 12" pot. She has a nice solid root ball due to being slightly rootbound. Following transplant, I lightly watered with filtered tap water with pH adjusted to 6.4. 🌼 START OF 12/12 CYCLE 🌼 - I moved her into the 96" x 48" bloom tent under 12/12 lighting schedule. 📸PHOTOSHOOT!📸 👩‍💻UPGRADE!👩‍💻 - In the 96" x 48" bloom tent, I added a BOTANICARE 48" x 48" low-tide flood tray on top of six 4" tall cinder-blocks with a low-profile motorcycle oil-pan for the water to drain into beneath the flood tray. 🚿FEED DAY!🚿 She received approximately 1 gallon of solution. I defoliate very lightly, right now, only removing top fan leaves that are pointing inward towards the main step to open up the middle for improved air-flow and light penetration. I also selectively and conservatively remove lower shoots that are destined to grow into larf. overall, she is healthy and very happy. No signs of slowing down at all! She is a very nice deep green color and is growing beautifully! She has a nice thick stem and tight internodal growth. She is setting a very nice foundation for some beautiful flowers! Between feeds, every other day or so she gets about 4 oz of plain filtered water pH adjusted between 6.2 and 6.6 sprayed evenly around the top of the medium using a 32 oz ZEP Professional Sprayer to keep the White Dutch Clover hydrated. This has allowed me to minimize feeds to about one a week. I apologize for quality of this week's photos. I was experimenting with some different lighting and the low light caused some grain and discoloration that I didnt notice until later. Lesson learned. Hope y'all still enjoy. I am trying a new format for the weekly summary portion of my diary. Let me know what yall think! 👃 AROMA: Her aroma is not very strong or pronounced at this point in her development, but is starting to develop a bit of an interesting soft herbal scent with a hint of pine. It's an interesting aroma. I've never experienced any strain that smells anything like this. I look forward to experiencing the evolution of her terpine profile. One of my favorite aspects of growing cannabis is how much these plants change from start to finish and how much variation is possible with this plant. ❇️ BUD STRUCTURE: Stacking up short and fat. It looks like she will produce some dense nugs, but it is still early in the cycle. 🎨Color: She is a light shade of green. She doesn't look deficient, just how she is. Hoping for some nice lime green colored dank from this cultivar! 🌿 STEM, STRETCH, & INTERNODES: She has super thick stems. Internodes are relatively tight without much elongation or stretch. ✂️ TRAINING/PRUNING: I have continued selective defoliation as needed to avoid crowding herself and her neighbors. I remove no more than 25% of foliage at any one time, and usually closer 10-15%. I space out defoliation with a minimum of 3 days between sessions, in most instances. There will be exceptions to that, but this is a good rule of thumb I try to adhere to. She has been trained to have 4 main shoots and I am using LST techniques to gently bend her stems to evenly fill her space without overcrowding. I probably could have lollipopped a bit more, but I am hoping the lower shoots I kept on her will still produce more than just LARF. ❄️TRICHOMES/RESIN PRODUCTION: She is starting to get frosty! Let me know what yall think! 👃 AROMA: Her aroma is stll not very strong and at this point in her development she is starting to develop a bit of an odd funk. It sounds weird, but her odor smells faintly of garlic and sweaty armpits It's an interesting aroma. I've never experienced any strain that smells anything like this and, to be honest, I am not sure I really like it. Terps can change theoughout flower and I look forward to experiencing the evolution of her terpine profile. ❇️ BUD STRUCTURE: Stacking up short and fat. It looks like she will produce some dense nugs, but it is still early in the cycle. 🎨Color: She is a beautiful rich shade of green. No signs of fading yet. 🌿 STEM, STRETCH, & INTERNODES: She has super thick stems. She stretched quite a bit this week, but nothing crazy.
