Picked up a clone from a well known grower in my region after having great luck on my last grow. Really excited to try this next level gas, more so to grow my first heavy hitter Indica by In house genetics. I'm keeping things pretty much the same as last grow. Still using FF ocean forest soil, just because I got a free double order when I did order it a while back.
A little late this week. Looked like it was having a little rough patching after the transplant, but the new growth is coming in much cleaner. I should have my c02 bag at the start of next week too. We only did one feeding this week as well.
No feeding this week as it's been slow to dry and I only did a light watering with PH'd water. I topped and also began LST. Defiantly growing faster now so I'm sure it's roots are building again after the transplant. From the last grow I figured out that when the roots are touching edge to edge inside the pot, it will start to dry the pot much more frequently so I'm not going to worry about adding more perlite like I did last time. The discoloration in the leaves seems to be getting better as new growth comes in, but I'm sure it won't be 100% until I give it the next feeding with some of the nitrogen rich stuff.
Had a few dry out moments with the humidifier, other then that it's been okay. The leaf discoloration I was seeing isn't really going away, going to up the feeding next week to see if it gets better. 1 watering and 1 feeding this week. Been pulling all the branches down and adjusting the LST little by little. It's sprawling pretty wide so I might pick up a scrog net for this grow later on.
The plant really seemed to start doing well after I did deeper waterings and using a little more nutes. I've been able to get the temps down just a little bit as well. I've been playing with the LST wires every few days and have evened out the canopy nicely.
Very late on updating this week. Last week of veg, all temps and RH% good with no spikes like I had earlier. Soils still drying a little on the slow side, but she's not complaining.
First week of flower, I decided to follow the feed guide FF gives and do a flush between veg and flower. A lot of the discoloring issues I've had have pretty much gone, noticing some big stretch too. I've gone and turned the light power down a hair too and got the temps averaging 76F and RH around 55-60%. Every week or two I've been snipping off some of the fan leaves so there's better light penetration to the lower areas, if not it would look like massive over grown mess in there. At the end this week the pot dried from the flush finally and I was able to give her the first feed of the flower, next week should start looking even better.
Flowering is going great so far and temps are staying low with the light on full blast. I'm running dangerously close to running out of space though, the last grow stayed so short and bushy, this one got very lanky during flower, I have 3 inches before I go past 12 inches between the canopy. Hopefully the stretch has slowed down. Noticed some burnt leaf ends so I dialed it back on the calmag to 3ml per gal. Also noticed spring tails in the water, but after reading I'm not worried about those little guys in my soil. This plant is massive and takes the whole tent up
The other late upload, you can see the leaves get really bad, but nice bud development regardless. I was defiantly over feeding by doing 2 gallons vs 1, over soaking too.
After I let the nute lockout get pretty bad, I decided to dial it back. I was using 2 gallons and drenching. Now I'm doing 1 gal and doing some of the heavy nutes half strength. Besides some questionable looking leaves the bud production looks okay. Because of this, the pot is drying out a lot faster ( 3 days vs almost a week). I did some heavy trimming to help out with light penetration for the lower growth and remove a lot of the damaged leaves as well.
A little bit of issues with the leaves getting crispy on the tips. I'm underfeeding compared to the FF schedule, so I think I'm going to flush next watering. I changed the dirty air filter on my exhaust as well as changed the position of the large fan to under the canopy aimed diagonally upwards at the filter. Temps defiantly dropped a bit as I was about to get 76F with the light fully cranked. All said I'm still happy with how frosty these buds are, but kinda bummed I caused all these issues and likely hurt my yield in the end. Live and learn.😓
It looked pretty rough, so I decided just flushing and regular watering for now. I also did another aggressive defoliation, but I'm starting to think I did too much because the brown crisping is spreading to the sugar leaves and it's getting me nervous. The buds are looking good, smaller then I'd like but oh well. My guess is two weeks left on it. Merry Christmas everyone
Stopped all nutes and have only been watering with a little ph down to bring it into the high 6's low 7's. The leaves are getting eaten up REALLY bad, but it looks like it should be able to cross the finish line. I am curious as why the leaves haven't started yellowing. The top leaves get crispy but that's it. I really see no more growth or trich development so I will give it about another week or so. I'm getting kind of sick of this FF soil, I still have some bags to use up, but I'm going to be a lot more reserved about feeding it for the first month or so.
Whatever that burn was started snow balling really bad, but it was done enough to chop and try to save it. This will likely be a pretty disappointing yield but we'll see after cure if it's at least smokable. I was also pretty worried that the leaves never started to flush or turn yellow. Unlike last time I also didn't ice the pot like a week before.
I had a lot of issues with growing this towards the end. I flushed a few times and couldn't get the nute burn out of it. Regardless of my blunders it's still gas.
The yield was defiantly hurting and I'm pretty sure the nute burn was related to over watering but still unsure. Regardless it still cured, dried and smokes great and that really speaks the genetics more then my growing abilities. Very terp heavy and a crazy smell. We'll do better next round.
@heizen, thanks my dude, I'll be running some masonic beans next(and actually using the netting correctly😏),so that's gonna be a fun one to watch out for.
