10/26:
Germinated two Sweet Zkittlez and a single Black Jack seed.
10/29:
Decided to plant another Black Jack seed...
11/2:
Had other germ failures, so planted a pair of Gorilla Girls as replacements.
11/2:
Both Sweet Zkittlez are looking great, as is the first Black Jack. The other Black Jack has popped and is growing in the DWC cloner for a couple days.
Neither Gorilla Girl has popped yet.
11/3:
One of the Zkittlez, the Black Jack, and a few other seedlings suddenly look like they are starving, so I fed them and am foliar feeding with a kelp/fish emulsion product every few hours.😕
I can see some green just below the surface on both Gorilla Girls now...fingers crossed.
11/4:
I planted the baby Black Jack today and foliar fed them a few times. The Zkittlez with the deficiency looks better today, but her first set of leaves won't last long...
Neither Gorilla Girl has emerged yet...
11/7:
The younger Black Jack is starting to catch up now.
Both Gorilla Girls popped and got planted on the 5th, late at night.
Both SZ's look great...the one that was deficient has corrected and is doing well now.
11/9:
The little ones are catching up, but not as fast as I'd like...I gotta flip them in about 12 more days...
11/14:
Both Black Jacks are suddenly droopy...I potted them both up in 3 gallon pots and moved them into the closet temporarily with a few other sickly seedlings.
11/16:
Been really busy with work and harvesting the previous crop..barely had time to check on them...forgot to take photos of the tent, but had one which includes the biggest Sweet Zkittles(Zenzations) who is now in a 3 gallon pot in the closet. Both Black Jacks are fucktup and barely growing at all...disappointing. Both Gorilla Girls look happy...growing quickly.
All will be moved into the closet Saturday morning, after I've harvested the last of my flowering plants and had a chance to clean the closet.
11/18:
Still very busy with life...Black Jacks still look like shit, but a little taller..
11/20:
I fed them and sprayed them with BoomBoom Spray and Axiom today and let it soak in nice and slow under low light with no air circulation.
I adjusted the far reds and timers and tonight is their first ever nighttime...I'm exploiting the Emerson effect again this run...hopefully they transition with a switch from 24/0 to 14/10 quicker than they did from 18/6 to 14/10...
11/21:
Yowsa! Overnight growth explosion! Guess they needed a nap... 😏
Even the Black Jacks looked better today!
11/22:
The Big Zenzations worries me...she's growing a couple inches per day now...up and out..
11/24:
Both Black Jacks finally turned the corner and are looking like they'll produce for me.👍
The big Zkittlez just keeps on stretching and outpacing most of the other plants....looks like a supercropping is in her immediate future. Kinda sux, because she's got picture-perfect, textbook, conifer structure😑
11/25:
Had to raise the lights today about 5 inches to accommodate the big Zkittlez and a Sucrose Overdose..couldn't bring myself to ugly her up yet..maybe everybody else will catch up (ya right)
For now, I'm using platforms of various heights for the shorter plants, to keep the canopy level.
11/30 - 12/5:
The bigger Zenzations has the beginnings of a small apex flower. Both Zenzations continue to look great, but the big story is the turn around the Black Jacks have made. They've tripled in height in 2 weeks and have nice, long lower branching. Both Gorilla Girls are stretching well now and have huge fan leaves, so I think they've still got some stretching to do.
I dialed back the lights to 13 hours of daylight on the 4th.
12/6:
I fed them today.
12/8:
Fed them..still stretching...
12/10:
Sprayed with Max Blooms
Too much stretch...yikes!
3 weeks since photoperiod change...everybody flowering, Zenzations in the lead...
12/15:
Some plants are taking too long to transition and stretching beyond my space constraints, so I dialed the photoperiod back to 12/12.
12/16:
Fed today and rotated edge plants. Added another 150w of 3000k below the canopy.
12/17:
Worked on ventilation...no A/C necessary now, as I'm using another AC Infinity 6" fan to intake outdoor air into the closet whenever temps reach 75f..and it's been cold as hell outside.👍
The final trick will be to replace the 6" exhaust fan with an 8" so as to be able to fully exchange the closet air faster ...but that's gonna have to wait til next season.
12/27 - 1/3:
Another very busy week. Plants are looking great. One of the Gorilla Girls is STILL STRETCHING..she's been supercropped in a dozen places and is still just 9 inches from the lights...
One of my Zkittlez has formed a flower on a 9-finger fan leaf about 3/4 of the way to the top of the plant. It's crazy looking...never seen it happen before..and I've grown many hundreds of plants...
Last fed on 1/3.
1/4:
Moved a few other plants out of the closet, now they've got a little elbow room.
Both Zenzations are fattening and frosting up very nicely. The Gorilla Girls have finally stopped stretching and are budding up nicely now. Their lowers are as all as the tops.
The Black Jacks look great, too.
1/7:
Fed today and gave them all a sniff test...killer stink from the Zenzations.😵
I added a dose of endoboost in their feed today...kinda worried about the monstrous size of my plants considering that they are only in 3 gallon pots..
1/11:
Fed today, but had no time for a photo sesh.
All good. Systems nominal.
1/15:
Was gonna feed today, but had no time...
1/16:
Fed today...they were very thirsty...
Took a few photos. Zenzations will be the first to finish..they are both senescing and smell great. Prolly another 14 days or so for them. Black Jacks and Gorilla Girls still have 3-4 weeks left to go.
2/1 - 2/4:
I ended up feeding the BJ's and GG's once more, and just plain water for the Zenzations.
Moved the to Zenzations into the dark on the night of 2/4 and will harvest them tomorrow (Friday).
I'll flush the others tomorrow and probably harvest them next weekend.
2/5:
Both Zenzations are having their last bit of beauty sleep before they get trimmed up, cut, washed, and hung to dry.
2/6:
Harvested both Zenzations....damn they smell wonderful and have amazing frost!
2/8:
Watered the BJ's and GG's today with LiquidSoil. Will flush them really well in a couple more days and probably harvest this weekend...time's up bitches, better put on your lipstick and get ready for the big party!
2/15 - 2/18:
Still just water and LiquidSoil for the BJ's and GG's...massive cold front allowed me to drop the nighttime temps to near freezing, and under 60f during daylight hours in the closet all week.
Awesome strain! SO glad I chose this one! It's a very dank earthy flavor..very potent, and wonderfully tasty!
The buzz comes on kinda gently at first, then about 10 minutes later you realize you're high as hell..and it increases in intensity for another 15 mins or so, and eases into a very steady enjoyable buzz. I lit up a doobie at the beginning of a movie and didn't think about smoking more til it was over.
Great weed! The plants didn't produce as heavily as I'd hoped, but what they produced is top-shelf. Very dense dank buds. So dense that you could play ping pong with them.
Easy strain to grow and fast flowering, too!👍
Plant A: 78g
Plant B: 91g
Final thoughts:
Potency: 8/10
Yield: 7/10
Aroma: 9/10
Flavor: 9/10
Bag-appeal: 8/10
Bud density: 10/10
I forgot to take photos of the smaller plant's dried buds...oops.
Special thanks to Sweet Seeds for allowing me to test these genetics. I'm thoroughly impressed!👈😀👍
2/26:
Harvested both Black Jacks and both Gorilla Girls tonight. They got a rough live trim, then chopped, washed, and hung to drip dry.
Big, heavy, frosty buds on all 4 of them!👍
3/2:
Still drying in the closet...amazing aromas!
I didn't weigh them wet...never do...but the dry weight was 430g for both plants!
Plant A: 229g
Plant B: 201g
Very heavy, very resinous, very tasty...awesome ganja!
I pressed a few ounces of it for the rosin, and it yields very very well.
Final thoughts:
My favorite strain from this grow. Not quite as tasty as the Zenzations, but the yield was spectacular and it's muy potente!
Yield: 10/10
Potency: 9/10
Flavor: 8/10
Aroma: 9/10
Density: 10/10
Resin production: 10/10
Muchas gracias, Sweet Seeds!
@Inganjawetrust, Ya man..I definitely can't afford to illuminate any bare floor!
Right...such a weirdo plant, but she's frosty as fuck, so..no complaints from me!
@rhodes68, OMG..I can't even imagine how big the Gorilla Girl XL's get!
...these "normal" ones have stretched from 6 inches to about 54 inches now...crazy...that's about 900%
@rhodes68, They were a little slow to take off, but have awesome structure and fatass indica leaves that constantly pray to the "sun."
I'm really enjoying the Gorilla Cookies from my last run, so I think I'm gonna like it....
@MrJones, Nah, they train themselves to do that...as long as they are all pretty much the same size initially, and as long as I keep the lights far enough away from them, they compete for who will get the best light, and they end up stretching their lowers too. I supercrop anybody who's too tall, and that causes their lowers to quickly grow to compete for apical dominance. I do use bamboo stakes and tie wire sometimes, but they are propping one another up for the most part.
At the end of a grow, when the buds are really heavy, it's always funny to see how they react to not having their sisters helping them stay upright when I pull them out of the closet...
Thank you very much for trusting our strains, and sharing your experience.
And thank you very much again for the score of 9 out of 10!! 👏😍❤️
We hope you enjoy the harvest 👌
Sweet smokes!
-Apolo
@Sweet_Seeds, Oh, hell yeah! Still got several jars of Dark Devil, barely touched either of the Zenzations, and looks like both Gorilla Girls will weigh in at about a half-pound each (225ish grams). One of the Black Jacks is also almost as heavy....and the "little one" is gonna bring in about 180g!!
Whoohoo!!
@Stellarock69, No worries..I flush the hell out of them with a chelating agent and hot tap water before I harvest...at least 8 gallons each, and sometimes twice that. In the summer, I usually put whatever pots aren't in use into a kiddie pool full of sun-heated water and let them sit for a couple of days. In winter, I usually just use new pots..like these...12 of 16 were brand new a month ago. Also, a lot of that white coloration is actually from the dolomite and azomite I amended the soil with.
