Welcome to another Autoflower in hydroponics diary. Some of you might have followed this grow on my Instagram (@pot_portraits) so I thought I share the results here as well.
Week one started with a basic solution of ph water 6.5 and mycorrhizae, at the beginning the plant doesn't need much, just support it a bit and give it time to develop its roots.
Keep your temperatures steady and you also don't need a lot of light in the first few weeks during veg, I used the TS1000 by Mars Hydro for the first part of the grow, this light makes 150 real LED watts which is more then enough to get things started.
So lets give her some time to develop the roots and check back in around a week from now.
Week 2 or 2.5 whatever you want to call it, Started to train her towards the end of the week, just the basic Low Stress Training ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYjkzg5c91s ).
Feeding is low dose Hydro A + B by Plagron at an PH of 6-6.5. During this stage of the grow you will see the plant accelerate in growth a lot, the roots start to develop and you can see the plant starts to take in nutrients.
We will check back in a few days and see how the plant developed with the applied feeding and training.
Week 3, another slight increase in nutrients and still the same mixture with some mycorrhizae PH at 6-6.5.
The growth increases, the training works as always and I also added Vita Race to the formula, feeding it foliar to all the plants.
She is growing alongside another autoflower in DWC, roots are developing very nicely and soon she will be ready to transition.
Summer time is a struggle with insects, especially here in the country side, even though its indoor still the amount of flying enemies is incredible every years.
My formula is sticky traps and neem oil, does the trick.
Week 4, she is sitting under HPS for a few days till the new LED is ready for her.
So far everything goes well, did another big jump in growth, starts taking a lot of water in a few days, always a good sign.
Conditions are similar to before, slowly transitioning into flower, hopefully with a good bit of stretch soon.
Increased the feeding a bit again, trying to see how she reacts to it, autos in hydro are always a bit of an experiment but with time you find your formula.
Week 5, now we are talking, she is stretching and the roots are growing at a really nice rate.
Feeding is almost at the recommended max without her showing signs of overfeeding, I always increase and try to push the plant but you need to go slow,
step by step and see how she reacts, always give her 48 hours to see how she copes with the new dose, If she looks healthy stick to dose for the week and increase the following.
A good trick to see if you plant wants more of less fertilizer is reading the ppm and check when the res level is lower after 3 days or so, if the ppm rises but the water level doesn't go down quick she has to much feeding.
If the PPM stay the same or drop with quick water intake means she takes it in very happy and maybe can take more.
Will continue to rise the dose till we reach the recommended max of 2.5ml/l, might play with the ratio later on.
Week 6, quick root flash. All going very well the nutrients are at 2.5ml/l now, vita race weekly, bacillus mix.
Plant started to flower properly and the stretch is on its way.
Water at ph 6-6.5.
I always try to keep the bottom clean so I do multiple clean ups of lower leaves and braches every week.
Also doing this focuses the energy of the plant to the top and she doesn't waste time making popcorn buds.
Week 7, we are in full flower and I show you the feeding today, very simple and not much to it.
The plant drinks this 25 liter tank empty like nothing, that's a good sign, she takes in the nutrients and grows rapidly.
Still cleaning some leaves and branches here and there, will update when we made some more progress, so far everything is going well.
Week 8 +-, She got another cleanup, removing lower leaves and branches.
I always keep the lower third of my plants clean, especially with hydro plants it helps with ariation.
Feeding is still the same as before, no changes, its just a case of refill the res every 3 days +- and change and clean res every 7 days roughly.
This rythm will continue till we hit a later stage of flower where we will add Green Sensation.
Another week, she is growing great and its time to clean the bottom part of the plant. I remove leaves and branches to focus the energy to the top and not waste it on the lower branches.
Flowers are fattening up nicely, she took a bit of stress here and there but she takes it with no problems. Endoboost hydro is keeping the roots safe.
Now we are waiting for those tops to fatten up.
A week full of events, one of the main branches broke, thank god so late in flower and during flush. It also gave me a rough idea of the harvest, that single branch made quite a good amount of weight but see yourself in the video.
A really fun grow comes to an end, the result is more than impressive from this strain. I grew a few critical cross autos in hydro, they all have their typical grow strength, especially at the beginning of flower but this one stood out. Started "normal" and then just didn't want to stop anymore and that with a very basic feeding regime. This strain can take stress and nutrients, what you get in return is some purple flowers that smell so amazing that you ask yourself why you are not only growing this strain :P I made some ice water hash from it and it was such a beautiful smoke. The potency is quite impressive in this one, it seems a lot of growers are to focused on THC levels but terpines decide where your high goes, this high is great and compared to other strains with a much higher THC numbers the purple queen auto can easily compete. The smell and flavor is super floral and fruity.
