Week one seems to have gone well, I wanted to try using ingredients that anyone can find. Whether at their local grocery, drugstore, or hardware store. The seeds germinated quickly, and sprouted quickly. They are 2 FireOG seeds from a small unlisted breeder called SeaWeedz from Oregon. If I can do it..anyone can do it! Here's a few ideas to get started: 1. Decide where you'll grow. In or outdoor. Do some reading and research. 2. Get seeds and germinate(paper towel method etc), or clones. 3. Get supplies: lights, soil or other medium, fans, containers, tent(if you choose), and nutrients(if you chose). Wonderful everything is planted and setup..let the "seedling" vegetative cycle begin! *for an example of a very basic setup: lights etc. See week 9 video. Appologies for my timing.

The second week she really started to spring up and open her true leaves. I did notice small white many leg bugs diving the soil so I used neem oil and some 3-1 disease control, and after much cursing and hard work they seem to have been banished! Bless the cannabis gods!

I'm amazed at how well the 2nd plant has done, seeing as the sister had to be thrown out due to such an infestation. I'm smiling everyday she gets bigger and stronger!

After fighting bugs, possibly nutrient attack, and well novice abusive treatments, this girl really is on fire! She's growing beautiful many fingered leaves and gaining in height and strength. I expect she'll need to be topped soon, so I'd better learn up on that and hope I do her justice. I'm so happy! *Being in a low humidity area I've been putting plastic cups on top with a few holes poked for air to up the moisture around the plant.

This week she has really taken off, her height has grown tremendously and all parts seems to be the right colored green. I've learned alot this week from the community here and I'm so grateful to everyone for reaching out to me and trying to help me get better and avoid abusing my lady to much. Thank you guys so much!

This was an amazing learning week. I gave my first haircut(topping) and I was so nervous to do it that I kept putting it off...I've been told many times that I waited a little long and that may have taken a little much off the top. However she transplanted well and I'm sure things will get better. The only real battle I'm having is ensuring I've gotten rid of these odd bugs hiding deep in the soil...but I will not give up on trying different experimental techniques on her! 1. Plant Training: topping/fiming This involves pruning the plant so you break the Christmas tree shape(apical dominance) in favor of a flatter bushy shaped plant. After roughly 5 sets of leaves have opened, you simply shave off the top(fim) of the upper most new growth node(photo 1) or cutting the stem beneath it to ensure its been done. This will split the main stem into 2. Many people will do this a couple times not just once. But once will do the trick.

So this was an incredibly frustrating learning week. Lets just say I think she's a little worn out. She had been topped, transplanted, and treated for bugs recently. That's a lot for a plant to handle I think. One of her leaves got burnt on the tip by the light. She also is having some dry crispy feeling to her leaves.I try to mist her regularly and the RH has been a little higher. I may go pickup a bottle of Foxfarm Boomerang and see if that may help. She also is clearly in need of some better lighting, because her middle isn't filling out like I'd like...however this may all be partially due to her recent abuse. I hope everyone has a spectacular earth day and had a great 420.

This was a good week, Its was my first learning experiment that an under watered plant=dry, droopy, unhappy leaves. A properly watered plant= happy smooth, fluffy, lush leaves. I hopefully won't mess up again. The presence of a missing bit of leaf indicates that a bug was enjoying being on my leaf..I had caught an elm bettle and immediately grabbed it, but it must be had lunch first. I hope it was an isolated incident. However probably a good washing/wiping of the leaves is overdue. I added the @Foxfarm Open sesame into the nutrients as I read a couple diaries that reported an increase in bud sites. I also added an additional cfl light to keep trying to bulk the middle. Ill need to start hardening off the plant as outdoor planting time is roughly 2 weeks away. I added a short video of my very basic and simple setup, for anyone anywhere to begin a grow. My apologies at not having one on my first week documentation. Happy growing to everyone, and best of luck to the outdoor crews.

Hey everyone, so this was an interesting and sad week for us. The good things are she is bulking up in the middle, she's developed many great growth nodes. The sad aspects were: the presence of occasional bugs landing on the leaves(I've tried to make note of where they land to see if damage occurs.), my accidental abuse of either letting the leaves get blown or too close to the light and getting burnt, also accidentally plucking off a leaf tip here or there while turning her or watering etc. I lowered her light hours slightly and may plan to top her again in order to slow down upward growth. Other than all of that she appears healthy and resilient. Ill continue bug research for fear of an outdoor attack, and hopefully I can protect her. P.S the clone experiment using her first topping clipping seems to be ok so far, I'm not seeing roots yet...but it hasn't all out died on me either. :) Happy growing and a happy may to everyone.

Digging holes for planting and found white matter in soil How can you handle a mold/fungus at that level and would it be safe? Otherwise what size fabric pots should I get for the best outdoor results for a grow lasting over a summer for harvest in late Sept. Thanks for advice..

I used a 5:1 mixture of water:hydrogen peroxide to help with fungus gnats. That worked well in that situation the gnats went away and the plants were fine. I’d try the same here if it were me. For fabric pots for outdoor, the bigger, the better. I’d say 7 gal minimum, 10 gal (or larger) would be better. Good luck!

The fire OG seems to grow fast and relatively strong. If I had known this I would have waited to germinate her, as she stands almost 2 ft. She's needing her final outdoor home. While digging her final resting place i came across the white powdery substance in 1st & 7th pics. It seemed mother nature had thwarted my plan for an in the ground grow. She recently has gotten some red tint to her stems which could be her genetics or root troubles. She has also sustained more bite type marks on some leaves, as well as a leaf that went bad on the bottom. I removed 2 large fan leaves that were blocking considerable light penetration. I gave her a dose of bush doctor sledgehammer and boomerang in the hopes of helping her root zone and a healthy flush. I believe her struggles are mostly due to weak lighting, confinement and the need to be in her larger final place. Whether that will be in the ground, or a smart pot, we'll see this week. I am extremely hopeful that she will flourish afterwards, but will certainly take a clone just in case. Opinions on final container or possible underground soil issues are much appreciated..

We're now on week 12, and have finally moved outdoors. She spent the last 3 days outside day and night, where the temps ranged from 78 daytime to 43 nighttime. She handled the transition fairly well, mostly due to the strong warm daytime temps. She has now been transplanted into her final container, a 15 gallon "Smart Pot". Smart Pots, show me what you're working with as you're supposed to be the best fabric pot. The plant has shown some bright green new growth, which tells me either she was stressed from the transition, or has an iron deficiency due to PH or possibly root troubles from being in a small container, we'll see if she bounces back after transplant. I also had topped the plant 2 more times for a total of 3. Each top has become a cloning experiment. Now that she's in the final container and been topped, I think ill line the fabric bag with zip tie loops to begin tying down the branches with some plant twist ties. Thank you all for all the help, encouragement and invaluable advice. Wish us luck on our first couple weeks outdoors. :)

We've had an amazingly unusual week for this area. The temps have been all over, 66-80 daytime, 44-55 night time. We've had flashflooding, heavy rainfall (which almost never happens) and lots of clouds and minimal sun. I really thought she might just keel over and die or be really unhappy;but she looks good except for the few bent branches due to my inept covering methods. Her height hasn't changed much probably from weather, but she has had some presence of bugs, bite markings and small spider web. This week is supposed to be much better and I'm hopeful she'll have adjusted to the newer container, and be thankful for the sun and just grow nice and happy. The 3 cloning experiments are still alive, 2 look good but no roots, 1 looks terrible but has roots. Only time will tell if any survive. Update! The clones pods have roots! I guess I wasn't checking well...but now I'll try to get em to grow. I had tried not to overdose on feedings so I only fed nutes the 1 time in the last 10 days. However she still has the odd markings left on the leaf tips from previously but none have gotten worse or spread. Thanks for all the help and support. I hope everyone's grows are going spectacular.

Hey everyone, so this week the temperature has been higher in the day reaching to 86 and the nights in the 50's. Neither seem to be bothering the plant. She is growing taller and bigger every day, her branches from being topped have started to stretch straight and high; I cant decide if I should LST or just let her grow. A few bugs and spiders have still tried to take up residence in her and I can just do my best at fighting them back. Unfortunately the best place for her to get the most sun hours per day is also the side of my land which isn't landscaped. So the grape vines and the ivy and other plants are also trying to take over. I'll need to prune back the ivy etc and train the grapes to climb elsewhere. Towards the end of the week she had 3 unusual leaves pop up at the bottom. They were dark, one a little rusty colored and when plucked they were completely dry and were able to crumble in my hands. Perhaps she needs a slightly lower ph or me to monitor and investigate my nutrient schedule better. Only time will tell, fortunately its only 3 leaves so far. The Smart pots have been good, but naturally they dry out at a faster pace and I have to stay well up on my watering. Happy and healthy growing to everyone.

Firstly, the fire OG is in the 15 gallon Smart Pot, those fabric pots certainly dry out quicker than I could have anticipated, as such I've had to keep a close eye on her and occasionally give more water than I would a plastic pot. She also had shown some signs of various nutrient deficiencies with the withered and discolored bottom leaves. I have upped her feedings to twice a week and just got a calmag supplement that I'll begin using tomorrow. After the increased feeding shes a lot happier. Unfortunately with the location of my outdoor setup I've already been battling the bugs, but now I'm having to fight the grapes and peaches I suspect that the abnormal length between nods is due to not receiving enough direct sunshine. The plant is only getting roughly 5 hours of direct sun and the rest is in the shadw.

Well this week went to the dogs all of a sudden. Last week she had just been feeling happy after getting fed more. This week she started out healthy, but once I introduced the Calmag supplement, everything went disastrous. I clearly did not give the recommended amount and naturally paid the price. She went from being about 95% good, to like 40% good. After seeing the calcium overdose, I flushed very well, but still 2 days after the leaves got worse, but there is still new green growth. I'm confident that she will recover, however now that summer solstice is upon us we certainly cannot afford more disasters like this. Her clones are still doing well, and slowly putting out new leaves. Lesson for the week: measure your nutrients always! Do not eyeball them, and stay within the recommended dose or less until you know how the plant will handle a new product being introduced.

*Shes growing new green leaves to replace the damaged ones from the calcium overdose. It was drastic. I've began to remove the affected leaves and thankful that new are taking its place. *Growth slowed this week and she only increased about 3 inches. *High temperatures in the 90s have caused some wilting during the daytime but calmed at night. *Clones are still strong, although I had to allow more dry time to banish the gnats. *I feel confident she will be alright as long as I stick to the feeding schedule and not give items that arent essential.

I can't believe this FOG is one 4.5 months of vegetative growth. Her height is leveling out slowly, she only went up around 3 inches. However due to her recent poisoning, her branches seem bare. I clipped the majority of the damaged leaves and while she looks better and healthier, she also looks barren. I've continued my usual fox farm nutrient scheduled and gave her a good flush with Sledgehammer and Boomerang. The new growth appears healthy, but slow going. *Lesson learned: less is often more. Planning for what to do when this girl gets way to talk is in the works, whether a cage, nets, or layers of wire or all the above; I'll figure out soon. Happy and Healthy Growing to everyone. 💚

Our temps here are beginning to get to their high points, and being more frequently in the 90s and up to the 100s. I read that the fire OG wasn't too fond of excessively high temperatures so we'll see how she handles the next month or so of time. Shes continuing to grow at the 3 inches per week and has put out much new growth in replacement of the damaged and removed leaves. However she still has occasional leaves displaying stress or discoloration of one kind or another, wilting etc. Her feeding schedule has stayed the same, with only the addition of a very low dose of calmag once a week. I topped more of her main branches in the Hope's of creating a more round shaped plant, we will see if it works. Her 2 strong healthy clones have gone to a good home. Overall she seems to be relatively happy and growing nicely.

Shes getting taller and taller...soon I'll need a stepladder so I stop pulling her branches towards me to reach them. We've had very warm days between 90-103. However the humidity has been extremely low, only 8-15%. She had some yellowing lower leaves which I'm sure is from me starving her. But is much better now. My PH pen isnt working so that's a bummer, but I was never any good with it anyways, so good riddance. I think my growing methods are consisting of "oh crap what do I do" "eh this might work" and literally pushing my plants to the breaking point just short of killing them. 😊 Happy growing to everyone!

She grew another few inches. Temperatures between 65 at night and up to 103 during the daytime. Outdoor humidity fluctuates between 8%-15%, the days with higher humidity were only due to flash flooding. Of all my plants the fog has the strongest stem area, its large at the bottom and splits in all the right places from being topped at the right time. This has made her physical structure the strongest one. She still has occasional leaf discoloration on the tips, a rusted unpleasant sight. Cause: inexperienced growing practices. 😊 I started to build a snap together tomato cage to give some support where needed, but not over do it. I really am interested in seeing how plants do in my area naturally and find out what's essential and what isn't. Flowering should be shortly around the corner. Happy growing everyone.

This Fire OG has been growing since the last day of February, she may actually reach 200 days old before she flowers. Throughout her whole grow she's had a variety of leaf problems, either deficiency/toxicity or her roots may have been causing some trouble as well. I came across a microbe company based in Tahoe called Budbionics and since she's been receiving this supplement her leaves have been basically green throughout. I'm thrilled by this as flowering is definitely around the corner and I want her having as little problems as possible. She's standing above 60 inches and I don't believe she's experienced a "flowering stretch" yet. What her finally height will be...I don't even want to think about. The temperatures here are still strong in the 90s-100s during the daytime, but the nights have already begun to dip slightly into the 57 range. I have also seen the days slowly getting shorter, she must just be a late bloomer since my other plants have began flowering. This plant is the only one who was topped at the best times and so she has the strongest base and branches. She hasn't experienced any breaking that has been negative and I'm sure it's due to her proper training. I've tried cleaning up her bottom slightly, but honestly it breaks my heart to cut anything off her, even though it's for the best of the whole plant. I'm expecting her to start showing her lady buds here anytime and then I'll have a whole new group of battles to face. Happy growing to everyone, and happy flowering to everyone that's starting that cycle. 💚🌱

The Fire OG apparently isn't fond of heat from what I've read about her, and unfortunately it's been well into the 90s and beyond for the last many weeks. This may have something to do with her not going into flowering like other plants are, otherwise she's just a late bloomer. The high heats and low humidity are definitely contributing to her wilting more frequently. Her canopy still seems a bit thin and not full of leaves, and I'm sure she never fully recovered from the calmag poisoning I'd given her a while ago. Shes also in a spot that could definitely use a bit more direct sunlight. This definitely has a role in her branches being a bit stretched and somewhat large spacing between node sites. Recently I began giving her some Bud Bionics which is a microbe that's supposed to help with the root zone and since receiving this she had less leaves with discoloring on the tips. I'll be interested to see the roots once harvest time is over. Thanks everyone for all the support and advice over the last 6 months, it's all been so helpful. Hope everyone's getting ready for an exciting harvest. 💚🌲

Hey everyone, first my apologies for letting my diaries get a little behind, I let myself get a bit too busy but should have them back on track. The fire OG has finally decided to start flowering! She started to show her small clusters of little wispy hairs at her budsites. Since I've read that this strain isn't to fond of heat i believe it's the cooler nights and darker nights finally pushing her. She began her flowering at 180 days from germination. Her height is standing at 75 inches, not including the pot. I'm not sure if she will experience a stretch now that she's began flowering, only time will tell. I've attempted to clip some of her more useless empty branches. As well as most leaves that I see sprouting out down low. My goals now are to attempt to keep her as happy and healthy as possible until the end. She still seems a bit low on the count of leaves from the calmag disaster and she could use more direct sunlight, but these things I cant really manipulate much. I hope everyones having a great September and the summer months have been good to you. Happy healthy growing to everyone. Thanks for all the support. 💚

This Fire OG has been growing for over 6 months now. She only began flowering very recently and the temperatures are already shifting quickly. Im slightly afraid of her slow maturing, her large size, and how soon the frosts will come. Unfortunately she's gotten so tall that the possibility of moving her inside to finish isn't really an option anymore. In my area it isn't uncommon for many outdoor plants to go well into October before harvest. So lets hope she makes some serious moves over the next 5 to 6 weeks.

This week was spent attempting to clear away small low branches and any other random growth at the bottom. I'm hoping that if I can clean up the bottom...the top stronger branches can flourish before the weather gets too bad. While i was attempting to get her height standing on the ladder i noticed her very top leaves have unusual spotting. It also had a branch of leaves who had the "claw", why this is, I'm not entirely sure yet. She could be responding to Nitrogen badly, it could be wind burn as only the top most part of the plant has any claw. The small yellowed spitaj Temperatures: daytime F- 88-74 Nighttime F- 45-59 Small windstorm this evening that may have stressed some of her branches. *well shit* the wind storm indeed caused a ruckus. So frustrated right now I'm so tempted to do a @bigpun and burn the bitch down!

So the fog has recently been damaged by nature, one of the main branches was broken and couldn't recover, this spurred a bit more defoliation than I'd have liked. However since having the bad cut away she seems better. Unfortunately her buds are still badly undeveloped, i feel like ill be lucky to have a bag full of popcorn buds. I'm continuing to care for her, even when the battle feels lost, not because i care about what her buds will be, but because i have learned so much from this one plant. Good luck to us over the coming weeks and maybe something positive will still happen. 💚🌱✌️

Im continuing to feed and water and care for rhe fire OG even though the last several weeks have really shown me the battle may be lost. However, ive realized that just because a plant may not put out huge buds does not mean that she will be worthless...although it is disappointing. This plant seems to be only going to produce very small buds, but they have some trichromes and can still be a huge benefit. Whether she gets cooked down into a edible form or a topical concoction...she still can have tremendous possibilities and uses..

This week went as good as can be expected, the day temps are still warm enough, but the nights are rapidly growing colder and approaching "the freezing level". Ive noticed an increase in new color on her leaves as the cold sets in, odd white/yellow spots and deep purple/red. Im keeping the smart pot covered at night. I have decided that i wouldn't give up on this girl, but just let her go as long as the weather will allow it. She has at least managed to get some level of clustered buds at her top...i wouldn't exactly call them colas because they do not resemble that in any way to me. However i think its at least useable. She's by far my biggest plant...but this is more due to her getting less direct sunlight than anyone should want to give their outdoor plants . So a tip to anyone planting outside....make sure your girls (or boys) are getting as much direct, strong sunshine as possible. I don't think just a few does the trick and surviving off indirect light doesn't seem to do the job well enough. I expect she will be cut and hung to dry here within the next week or so. Happy growing everyone, I hope everyone's plants are doing well.

This was my very 1st seed ever sprouted and grown, from a small company out of Oregon called Sea Weedz. The buds that i got out of it while they weren't the best quality i feel i could have grown, didn't turn out bad smoke wise. It has a nice even and uplifted high, not too harsh and only had mild side effects like dry eyes. The grow would have been perfect and relatively easy if i could have had her in a more sunny spot, that was our ultimate downfall this year.

Growing the Fire OG has been amazingly informative, it taught me so much about how to grow properly and how not to grow if i want things to be successful. Having the grow community here was such a huge help as this was my first grow season and needed lots of opinions and examples to go off. This plant would have been far more successful if it had been given more direct lighting, unfortunately I cannot control a lot of external problems...i suppose this is the downfall to doing an outdoor grow. This grow taught me about toxicities, deficiencies, the need for proper training, to roll with the punches because many things go wrong in a grow such as breakage and natural disasters, and of coarse the essential role of quality lighting and the need to plan and prepare. Although i had wanted to give up on this plant many times I chose to stick in there and let her do her best. Because of not giving up i know have a few ounces of fire OG to smoke and a great deal of trim to use making edibles and topicals. Even when a plant seems like a complete loss...it isn't as long as i can take something away from the grow. Whether that be a new knowledge of how to do something better next time or some nice buds and trim. To anyone new like me...growing cannabis can be hard, but most new things are, so don't give up, keep learning and trying new things. Happy Holidays everyone. Thank you for all your help and guidance. ✌️

Hey everyone, I made some recent changes to this diary. My goal with this was to show that anyone anywhere really can grow cannabis! It occurred to me that some people may not know where to begin or how to even go about it, so I put in some very simple starter steps, and examples to hopefully help someone somewhere. I hope everyone had a great arbor day and were busy with their trees ;)

@bobo420 @growdoctordc @DAREdropout Hey guys thanks so much for the help. I transplanted her, later off the nutes, upped the lights and topped her...so hopefully things will get better. However the bugs I thought had gone, I found a few scurrying around during the trans, I guess the burrowed down in the soil and hid. I'm totally miffed and have tried to attack again, they're not climbing the plant but staying within the soil, I see no signs of any webbing or bites on leaves spotting or others. Also the video I took of them when I examined them and the video they don't quite look like many of your typical canna related bugs. I started some insecticidal soap, neem oil etc...and hope I can crush their little spirits and they'll go elsewhere. I appreciate you all so much. If anyone would want to check out the video of the bugs to give me some ideas I'd be happy to send it, for some reason it didn't let me load to the "week" due to lack of memory or space? So wish me luck on the future weeks I guess. Honestly it's breaking my growing spirit just a bit. :(

@DAREdropout, Hey you are so awesome for looking into that for me. I did read about some bugs who feed off decaying matter, I like to hope these are them...but I'm so terrified they're not. But I think you're right that if I keep not seeing marks on the plant itself maybe they're alright to be there. I initially had this grow with 2 fog plants and the #1 got thrown out. Ill have to keep a good eye out for any signs of damage. Thanks again, everyone has been so helpful, this really is a great little community.
DAREdropout
DAREdropoutcommented7 years ago
@Experimentgreen, There are thousands of different types of little bugs that live in soil. Some of them feed on living plants, but my understanding is most of them feed on DECAYING organic matter. It's not uncommon at all for bagged topsoil or compost to have little critters in it. Where I'm going with this: Are you 100% that they're feeding on your plants, and not the compost in the soil? If your plant is sharing soil with these bugs, and it's not looking distressed, they may not actually be an issue! Nonetheless, two things popped into mind: 1. Predatory nematodes. Inexpensive (generally <20$) and 100% organic/chem-free. Won't stress your girls. Look 'em up on Amazon. 2. Get a really large tarp, and on a really bright, hot, dry day, spread all your soil thinly and evenly across the tarp, and bake it in the sun. Dry it to a dusty crisp. These critters need moisture to survive, and drying out your soil in the sun will force them out and send them looking a new home. This won't help your current plants, but your future grows should be a lot more bug-free. Don't let this get you down, sister! I 100% guarantee even grand master growers out there have their fair share of problems and shitty grows. It's like a clerk at my local hydro shop told me (and I wrote it down): "That's the fun and pain of growing cannabis. You never know how a grow will pan out. You think have a recipe for success, next thing you know you have a plant that refuses to stay alive. Sometimes it's something you can change, sometimes it's just the genetics of that one individual plant, and nothing you can do will make it happy. Every seed you pop is a dice roll."

So if you are going in the ground, I assume last week, you dug the hole. You will grow a giant. So f**king cool. 👊 Apparently I will have to keep my eye on you. And we haven't even talked about the Fire OG. I have seen this one turn bright red. She will be beautiful as a giant. I wish you the best of Luck 👊.

@Teamdirtbag2, I dont think chickens can really fly either, the one got over the neighbors4ft fence and couldn't get back over. They kinda just jump and flap and sorta hover for a second.

@Teamdirtbag2, penguins can fly, just not in the air, they fly through the water at like 20 miles per hour. :) A bird is a warm blooded, egg laying, feather having beak mouthed, sometimes flying animal. Haven't you unpacked your dictionary yet? Just search for the 50lb box and ill bet its in there.

@CRiSPrGrow, i think the pot or ground matters. Say you go from seed not clone, youll have a taproot, a taproot like in a tree or other plant can go so deep and seek out water etc, in a pot, its all on you for everything. But im sure in ground has draw backs too,

@CRiSPrGrow, Adding Silicon to your nute mix will help and is recommended . It will strengthen cell walls and make the plant more resistant to environmental stresses. Myco's will help also. Good luck.

Fascinating diary title, which made me look in the first place. Please explain an OUTDOOR GROW, 20 HOURS LIGHT per day, and that light being only 4” from canopy. I like it, but I’m confused. Bugs and low humidity don’t typically go together. I’m really confused now. I’m not asking for gps coordinates, but give us an idea of where on earth you are located. She’ll do fine. And follow @DAREdropout ‘s advice - add quality compost

One of the great things about outdoor is the natural aspect, you can only work with what you've got. I've been following a few of your grows and I'm really stoked for you. Bugs happen, perfect light isn't always possible, huge yields of delicious nearly natural buds are though. Great work! I'll be watching

LOOKING GREAT! To help with the bugs.... I've been using captain jacks deadbug that i bought from amazon. The concentrate version works best to kill whatever is in the soil, and also the "ready-to-use" spray form for the leaves. This will keep them off the plant, and out of the area you're growing in. It also helps to add sticky traps around your plants.. a layer of sand will work to keep them from getting into the soil and laying eggs. and if you have any, place cups of apple cider vinegar around the pots. the gnats will be attracted to the smell and just "drown" themselves basically. (i recommend a starbucks cup. they'll crawl into the straw hole and it becomes a trap. An eco-friendly trick is placing an open bottle of Vicks near the plants. they're unable to crawl back out lol) These are all things i'm going to do with my next grow 👌 😁 These aren't always 100% effective, you might still see bugs but hopefully not! when you move to outdoors, watch this video i recently that could really help 😊 www.youtube.com/watch *stay blessed! -one love

Experimentgreencommented7 years ago
@DeathCrusher92, Oh you are so kind to seek me out and give me all that great advice. I appreciate you so much. I heard vinegar cups are also good to repel the ants, they can't stand the smell. And another one especially outdoors, a tuna can or cat can with slice of apple and then filled with oil they seek the apple and sorry buggies there's no escaping after that.(great for ants, earwigs, etc).

UPDATE: we had an interesting day today, not only did I notice some red stems occuring which I'm attributing to root issues not P problems as she is getting a healthy dose. I also started trying to harden her off today and let her be outside for several hours. When taken inside she was a bit wilty, which it was nice and sunny so understandable. She picked back up after coming inside. I also noticed she has gotten dryer faster lately, she got 3/4 of gallon about 1 1/2 days ago and she's drank it up..possibly with help from the sun. I really just want to get her outside in the EARTH but apparently weather is standing in our way. Happy growing everyone.

Good luck!

@DudeGrowsWeed, What's up with these grow questions and "ive reached my Free account limit" I gotta purchase an account to have more? Is that how they help to fund this whole operation? If I'm going to purchase an account I hope they'll give me more letters to work with so I can at least explain my problem correctly to where its understandable. Dang.

@Experimentgreen, I would recommend using Recharge by Real Growers to boost the soil afterwards. It’s available from realgrowers.com and on Amazon. I’ve been using Recharge with all of my plants over the past couple of months and my girls absolutely love it. It’s full of tons of beneficials for the soil.
