Seeds germinated after 2 days on paper towel method. Set it on top of my computer between two plates most of the time for the additional heat.
12/17/20 Both Arise popped up out of the soil. Day 1 of my seedling stage.
Just gave the "wittle babies" their first watering with a small water dropper. I generally just use distilled water the first week or so before I start adding my grow nutes. I use Roots Organics 707 soil, so it comes with enough nutrients to last a plant a couple weeks, especially a seedling. Smooth sailing so far, Day 3 of Week 1 Veg.
Also post videos on my YouTube channel for this wanting a more in depth look at these plants and more of my grows!

First day of Week 2, Day 8 since sprout. Still be on cruise control, just been giving it some distilled water with a dropper right around the stem area and out to the edge of the cup every 2-3 days. The Roots Organics 707 should have enough goodies to keep them fed until I start giving them nutrients next week and probably move them to 2 gals. These all seem to be growing a little slower than I'm used to, but it's probably just a mental thing. It seems every grow I have is going to be different until I start cloning. No mutants yet, and look healthy and like they should. No complaints yet!
End of Week 2 and they have really started to take off. The B plant has a curving stem so I've been trying to get it to straighten out, but it will be much easier to do when I repot them here in a couple of days. They already have roots sneaking out the runoff holes so I'm going to repot them this weekend when I have some time off work. I'm also probably going to acquire my Irie Leonardo clones to add to the mix. I have given them a little bit of a recharge(microbes) watering with their spring(A) and dechlorinated tap water (B), so no more distilled just to keep things damp. Also have been giving them a few squirts of Overgrow (Foliar spray) before lights out and spraying them with distilled water a few times a day based on if the humidifier is doing good enough or not. Going to have a full 2x2 here in a few days!
It's actually Day 16, was planning on repotting them into their 2 gallon homes this weekend (Saturday Day 17) and it wasn't a day too soon. The roots were already beginning to reach out the runoff holes but now one of the Arise and the Blue Dream I'm growing both started going droopy on me, while the other one doesn't seem bothered at all, it's got more "pop" than Urkle's collars. So, I'll post some more photos this weekend when I get them transferred to the 2 gallons and the Irie Leonardo are going to join the fold as well (same pheno).
Day 19 (01/04/21) Repotted them on Day 17 and they are adapting very well. Arise B was somewhat droopy but seems to be coming back to that vibrancy like A has. Arise A has just been killin' it. No issues, very symmetric. Going to give them their first top here in a couple days but they seem to be loving their new 2 gal home.
Got the plants transferred over to their temporary 2 gallon homes. Have only given them a couple of small recharge (microbes) waterings since the repot and are going to start them on their grow nutrients here in a couple days, starting at 1/2teasp per gallon, instead of the 1/4 I normally do, because my last grow with Irie Genetics was his Sunkiss (Platinum Tangie x Arise) were underfed, especially with the nitrogen. So, I want to make sure I feed them enough this grow to maximize their potential. Also been giving them a squirt of Overgrow before lights out every day as well, which is a foliar spray I like using from Optic Foliar. Going to top them sometime this week as well, to help even out canopy growth so, I'll check back in a couple days!
Got both of the Arise plants topped and defoliated. Gave them their first nutrient watering (1/4 teasp of Roots Organics Grow Terp Tea, 1 teasp(5mL) of New Millenium Ruby (first grow using this product), per gallon) and also their first IPM drench with Azamax (1/2 teasp per gallon every 10-14 days). Also sprayed them with some diluted Azamax (every 10-14 days) and Overgrow. Going to give them a few days to adjust then need to look at some kind of training besides topping and defoliation. I've never cut down to the third node from the fifth. I normally just cut the 5th node off but I'm trying for more of a horizontal bush than tall tree. I felt bad taking all those huge beautiful fan leaves, but they will be back soon enough.
Gave the Arise a feeding this morning and it is the first day of Week 5 since sprout for them so figured I'd update the grow diaries. The seem to be recovering very well since the repot and I also gave them some Azamax which is an IPM solution I added to the soil and made a spray solution to apply every 7-10 days and re-applying to the soil again in 3 weeks or if I see signs of pests. Arise A has a little bit of some strange shriveled areas on some fan leaves and they both have a few tan splotches on a couple spots, but seem to be churning out more growth since they already filled out since their first defoliation a few days ago. I also think going down an extra node on the tops is really going to help these grow more horizontally than vertically like a Christmas tree. Just a matter of messing with different LST methods and practice. I always learn the most by just getting in there and doing it. Might not always work out the way I want, but I know to do it a different way next time. Just going to slowly build up their feeds, add some Kelp solution, get them moved over to the 3x3 tent under the TSW-2000, and repotted again to their final pot (5 gal). I'll post an update here in a few days!
Just gave them another feeding at Day 32. Just been watering/feeding them when the pots are nice and light. Probably going to have to get them transferred over to the 5 gals here soon and get them moved over to the 3x3 under the TSW-2000, just need to get one more plant from my last grow out of there. Just giving it a few days to finish up.
Start of Week 6 Veg for the Irie Arise plants. Just moved them from the 2x2 tent to the 3x3 under the Mars Hydro TSW-2000. I tried not turning the Mars down at all and keeping it at near 100% like the last grow was at most of the time, but it was just too strong to switch straight to, so I turned it down to about 55-60% power and they are already starting to pop back up. They were somewhat droopy just because it was too big of a switch and they weren't ready for that many watts. They seem to be doing much better now it's lower, so I just am going to let them do their thing until I think I need to repot, LST, or prepare for flower. I also gave them a IPM spray down today (11 days since the last) and marked another one 10 days in the future on my tasks calender. Still not too sure I have males or females yet, but I just want to make sure they are healthy. While I would love to have both girls, if I had a male, I wouldn't mind trying to collect some pollen from them for future breeding projects, I've just never grown a male that far yet and not sure how long the pollen would be good for. Slowly increasing the nutrients as well, started adding some kelp to the grow nutes as well.
Day 40, almost through the 6th week since sprout. The Arise B plant is the only one I haven't been able to fully fix the droop for. They didn't like the stronger lights, so I turned them down. I have also been watering when the pots get light (every 2-3 days) so sometimes the droop is just because they are thirsty, but the Arise B still is just a droopy plant. I heard from someone that RJ mentioned one of the Daybreaker phenos was droopy until flower, so maybe that is shining through a bit. Other than that just been slowly giving them more grow nutes, adding kelp and silica(soon), while doing some recharge every 10 days or so. Spraying with Overgrow every other day. They have been topped once and had a couple decent defoliations. I want to get these a little bigger in the 2 gals before I switch them to the 5 gals. Just going to keep giving them more nutes until they start getting a little nute burn and trying to make sure they are happy coming into the next repot and/or possibly another top (probably not).
Got them transferred over to the 5 gallons at the end of Week 6 veg, so figured I'd throw an update starting at Week 7. I just heard on a podcast I listen to (GFYH podcast) that sometimes overfeeding can cause drooping as well so I may stall out where I am which is more than I was doing last grow, but not as much as I was going to do. So, it's a good place to stall out at to make sure they aren't getting too much, especially with the repot, they will start needing more than the 2 gals. Arise A has been the most consistent at looking the best, where the Arise B has just been droop city it's whole life, even as a seedling. The leaves are a good color, just want the plants to start praying to the light a little more. I still haven't turned the TSW-2000 up any from when I turned it down to about 60%, but the new pots are about 6 inch taller, so I may leave the light there for a few days and if its still too much just raise it up more than the few inches I have done already. Just going to get these looking good and adjusted to the pots then they will be flipped to flower!
Day 47 of Veg, Feb 1st, 2021. Gave them their first watering/feeding besides the initial one with the repot, today. Arise B still being a droopy plant, while Arise A has been incredible. They seem to be adjusting well to the new pots, but still haven't turned the light up any from the 50-60% power it was turned too to let them adjust from the weaker blurple light. I want them to look like they need more light before I turn it up any higher. I would like to flip them here pretty soon though I think. They seem to be getting big enough to where I think they will fill the tent out okay. No sign of pests, so hope the Azamax is doing it's job. Just gonna let them get a little more perky then give them the flip.
These plants are officially through 50 days since sprout. I ended up trying turning off the exhaust fan lights on when it's normally on, which increased the temp and humidity, and the plants exploded with growth. They really enjoyed the warmer, humid climate which makes sense, but now it's just a matter of getting them enough airflow, but honestly, they are doing better with the warmer, more humid climate than the old conditions they were at. I raised the light up a bit and also turned it up to about 75% full power from 60% to get them adjusted again. Now they seem to be thriving I plan on doing a defoliation, giving them a few days, then flipping to flower. They seem to be growing fast enough to fill the tent out pretty well after the stretch, as long as I have some females. I took some before and I'll take some after photos so you can see the difference!
Since I got the temps and humidity up a bit the plants have really started taking off, so I decided to go ahead and flip them to 12/12. We started Day 1 after 51 days off vegetation since sprout. Arise A is the better looking and more symmetric of the two, where B is more sproadic and less nodes, but larger. I hope we have all girls but with regs, I never know until I flip them or take a small clone then flip it asap if you have the essentials and time to do it. I wanted to flip them as soon as they started looking better so that's what I did. Just need to transition from grow to bloom nutrients, and start applying calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus. I also just supercrop to control the stretch because I don't like using scrogs since I pull them out of the tent so much. The stretch is the next big phase to keep an eye on.
Last day of this week and it's Day 5 of flower. It's looking like Arise B is back to it's droopy self and I think I see some little balls starting to form, but Arise A seems to be a girl hopefully. I wanted to try and extract some pollen from a male if I got one, but this plant has been such a little baby I think I'm just going to cull it and call it a day. It's been so damn finnicky and honestly I'm glad it's probably a male. The other plants have done fine, it's only been this one that has struggled. I'm also growing another plant ("Blue Dream" bagseed) and it's been fine for the most part. I also had just given them ANOTHER defoliation this week, not very heavy but they had just exploded since I flipped them to 12/12. I'll keep you posted on things here in a couple days when I update the next week!
Today is the last day of Week 1 Flower and we discovered one of my Arise regs had some testies. I was going to try and collect some pollen from the first male I got, but it's been such a diva I think I'm just gonna let it ride off into the sunset of death. It was the Arise B plant, the one that had been struggling the majority of the grow. It did much better when I get the temps/humidity up, but the other two plants did okay in the same environment it struggled in. I was totally okay with it being a boy and now I can focus on these two and make sure they are getting everything they need. Now that I'm down to the one Arise plant, I'm just gonna try and say the Arise plant. Now, I'm also growing a "blue dream" bagseed and it turned out being female. So, if you all want I can update you guys on it as well instead of just the one Arise plant. I actually raised the Arise plant up a couple inches because the "BD" is really starting to stretch, and the Arise is right behind it. They seem to both have 4 main tops, symmetrically laid out like the corners of a square. I'm going to start super cropping them as we go instead of using a scrog. Until I get a better watering method, I've stayed away from scrog nets. I also like pulling them out occasionally and probably wouldn't like them being stationary unless I did something to make them mobile, like the web device, etc...Slowly getting the grow terp tea lowered and the bloom tea increased. Just have a few more feedings with the kelp me in it and have a calcium watering and super phos top feed coming up soon. First day of week 2 flower is tomorrow 02/13/2021.
Day 11 flower and I'm really respecting the stretch from these 2. The Blue Dream is a little more aggressive, but honestly they haven't been too bad. It seems like they usually have stretched more than this by now, but I'm not complaining. I did supercrop a couple branches because they were just a little tall. I also raised the Arise up a bit to level it out more with the BD. It's been extremely cold in my neck of the woods, so honestly I've just been doing what I can to keep the temperature up as much as possible. The BD is also beginning to bloom while the Arise is a little behind. Excited to see these things in a week!
This first round of photos is on Day 14 of flower. Technically the last day of Week 2 of flower, but it's the first day of a new week for the grow diaries. It has been extremely cold where I live and thankfully I'm growing indoors, but the cold still affects the temps in my tent a bit. They are probably around the lowest temps I feel comfortable with, probably averaging 75F° (24C°) lights on and 60-65 F° (16-18 C°) lights off. I turned off my exhaust fan over a week ago to retain as much heat in the tent I can, which has helped raise the temps/humidity and it's probably worse for the plants at this time. I just have my dehumidifier set to turn on if the humidity gets too high. I believe the cold has helped reduced the stretch though, because these plants haven't seemed to stretch like some of my previous grows, but I still have another week or so before I feel like they won't stretch anymore. When I was taking video up close on the Arise plant, I noticed some sugar leaves had a shine too them and they are already producing trichomes at Day 14 which seems pretty early too me. I hope it frosts up like a mofo! I like the structure of the Arise better too, but the Blue Dream seems to have a pretty unique structure as well it's just more of a "haze" structure. I did supercrop a few of the Blue Dream branches that seemed to be a little too tall compared to the others and they have adapted to it very well! I need to stall on increasing the amount of nutrients since they seem to have signs of burnt tips, but think it could have been the amount of my calcium solution I applied. I think it's extremely strong and I added 50ml instead of the 5ml I should have lol, but I'm getting it figured out.
Things are finally warming up a bit again outside, so the temps have been able to get back a little warmer where they like it better. The Arise even has a shimmer on some of the fan leaves so I'm hoping it's going to be a frosty one. The BD is still been stretching more so than the Arise, but I super cropped a couple branches just to even things out a bit. I did go ahead and give them their third defoliation since the day I flipped them. I just wanted to open them up a bit more to help the light get through better. Not much has changed since a few days ago besides the weather.
Finishing up Week 3 of flower and they are really beginning to bloom now. The stretch this go around was very minimal, especially the Irie Arise plant. It is probably one of the smallest stretches I've had with a plant, while the BD stretched twice as much. Honestly though, even the BD's stretch wasn't that bad. I think since it was soooooo COLD in my area, the tent was getting about as cold as I felt comfortable with. It got to the point where I was considering buying a small heater just in case, but I made it happen. I did go ahead and give them another defoliation and probaably won't give them anymore besides little trimming here and there. The stretch seems to be wrapping up because the blooming was really begun to take over. Just gonna try and keep them happy!
It's a couple days into Week 4 flower, Day 23 and the stretch has seemed to come to a halt and the buds are slowly bulking up to become that good stuff we all love. Been pretty routine this last week or so, just adjusting their feeds to what they need and watering them every 3 days or so. They have been doing pretty great honestly and both have their differences that make them shine in a good manner. The Irie Arise has been praying hard and the leaves seem to form around the main top as if someone is opening up their hands to show you something, where the Blue Dream stretched about twice as high as the Arise, and the bud nodes are more open and exposed to the light. Trichomes are beginning to form as well. I'll check in again in a few days!
Day 26 and these girls are really starting show off their different traits. The Arise is a bit smaller/compact than the Blue Dream but it is stacking very nicely and the structure is beautiful, where as the BD stretched at least twice the height the Arise did. It also has larger bud nodes with super long stigmas with some cool looking lower buds that seem to double up on either side of the branch. The Arise is starting to smell a little stronger, but I can't quite put a nose on it yet. Stretch definitely seems to be done and they are starting to trich up! It only gets better from here!
It's half way through Week 5 and this is the first chance I've been able to update this journal. I just started another job at a dispensary/cannabis lounge and have been trying to get things ready for the outdoor season, so I haven't had as much free time as I'm used too. Plants have been doing really good though! They are starting to bulk up, build those trichomes, and develop different traits from each other. The BD is really resembling some BD strains I've seen online, so there may be some truth from whomever grew the original strain the seed came from. It has some very long slender branches with not too many limbs coming off of them, making lots of tall, long singles. Which is what you find in a lot of hazes, which BD's lineage starts from a haze. The Arise is starting to smell amazing and has more of a stocky compact build, and I'm really excited for this one. It's been a month of flower now, so just another 5-6 weeks and it'll be harvest time.
Second update at day 34 of flower with another run of photos. So, we are wrapping up Week 5 of flower and are about to get to the last half of flowering, where they really start finishing up and smelling great. I have had a few brown splotchy leaves on the Arise fan leaves near the bottom which I'm thinking may be a Nitrogen deficiency. In my first few grows I always cut N when I went into flower but discovered it's best to still give your plants N, especially during the first few weeks and to not dial it back until after that, which is what I've tried to do this grow. I had actually just started to cut/lower the N but they seem to still want some more, so it may help to go ahead and give it some more for a couple weeks. The BD has slowly started to get a lighter green so I kept the Nitrogen where it was on that plant, but may go ahead and give it a little more as well. Other than that, everything seems to be doing okay. Seem to be drinking a little more, maybe every 2.5 days instead of every 3. Just trying to keep them happy!
Sorry it's a little later in the week with this upload, but I have been extremely busy as of late. These photos were taken a few days ago and this will probably be the only update for this week, but for the most part everything seems to be going okay. I think I cut the Nitrogen a little early because they were really starting to yellow a bit and get some dying fan leaves, but it's nothing serious. Honestly, it's probably normal, but I went ahead and gave them an extra top feed with some Nitrogen loaded nutes (my grow nutes) just in case. They are really starting to trich up, bulk up, and starting to get that good stank going on. The Arise smells out of this world. Reminds me of lemonheads or what I imagine what most of Irie's Lemon Jeffery pheno smells like. Only a few more weeks left on this grow!!!
Starting Week 7 of flower and these things ar REALLY starting to eat. They have really started getting pale green/almost yellow, especially the BD. I believe this is a Nitrogen deficiency and I have been top feeding some of my grow nutes (which is my highest Nitrogen product) to see if that helps. The Arise on the other hand isn't as pale, but it is causing the fan leaves to get brown splotches on them, then they shrivel up and I pull em off. New growth seems okay, but it's mostly just bulking up the buds. I haven't been able to dial in the smell of the BD, but my goodness the Arise smells like lemonheads, in a very strong manner. I'm loving it. Just trying to keep them happy!
Had issues getting the BD photos transfered over so I gave up, I'll get em next time. Still haven't exactly dialed in what deficiency my plants (mainly the Arise) are struggling from. I think the BD is more a Nitrogen issue and it's stayed about the same, maybe gotten more pale green/yellow, but not bad. The Arise however is having spots die on the leaves, turning the brown/yellow with the worst leaves curling at the ends or whole blades decayed. I upped the Nitrogen but it seemed to get a little worse, so I'm just gonna cut it completely and start lowering everything for flush, because maybe it's just too much, but idk. They are still bulking so that's good. I also got one of them fancy blue lab ph pens to make sure my ph pen isnt on the fritz. It's been a good one, but it's probably 18 months old now, which is fine, but it was time for an upgrade.
What is going on my Grow Diary friends. It's the start of Week 8, Day 50 and I'm starting to prepare for flush by lowering my nutrient amounts down until they aren't being used any more. I got some New Millenium Winter Frost to use during flush for this grow and I think I'm going to use small amounts of my Roots Organics Trinity (molasses/yucca blend) in my flush as well to see if it helps the sugars and trichomes fatten up a bit. Never fully dialed the deficiency problem but it never got to the point that I feel it was harmful to the plant, but think it was a Nitrogen deficiency on the BD mostly. Then I think the Arise could have been a mixture of needing a little N and possibly a ph issue. I just went ahead and pulled the trigger on a Blue Lab pen, which has been amazing so far. My old ph pen was from a brand called Sure Test and it was around $60 (US doll hairs). It was amazing for me honestly, and it's calibration stayed good for a while. The blue lab has a checkmark icon lit up when your pen is calibrated so if you don't see a checkmark, you need to calibrate it. I think this is an incredible feature, just so you know the numbers are right and you don't have to calibrate before every use if you're wanting to make sure it's calibrated every time. I wish you guys could smell this Arise though.......straight up lemon head candy, I'm excited for these!
We're getting close to flush time and close to the end. I am thinking these are going to need around 75-80 days, but honestly over the last week or so they have really done some bulking and a lot of those stigmas (white hairs) are disappearing or browning. Usually wait until Day 55 or so before I check the trichomes, unless you can just tell it's an early finisher. I'm honestly ready to get this grow done so I can go ahead and finish renovating the grow room so I can begin a pheno hunt. Thanks to any of you following along with me for this grow. It's my first time using this platform, but I will be using it again since it was pretty neat. I also gave them both an emergency phosphorus top feed to see if that helps with some of the deficiencies they have been having. Just been on cruise control, getting the nutes lowered to nil before I start flush here in a couple days.
Day 57, Start of Week 9. Basically got these things done with most of the nutrients and transitioning to flush. I am going still using some of my Roots Organics Trinity which is a molasses/yucca blend and I'm also going to use some New Millenium Winterfrost as well during flush to see how that does. Just kinda on cruise control, trying to let these things bulk up and finish off. I need to start checking the trichomes to see how they look, clear, cloudy, amber, etc, but pretty sure they still have a couple weeks. Can't wait to finish this one honestly, because I'm ready to finish the grow room construction. Short little update, but not a lot going on besides starting flush!
Day 61, went ahead did a trichome check today as I was watering them with their first full flush to see how they were doing. I think I'll be able to pull the Arise here around day 70 because I was seeing a couple amber with the rest cloudy, while the BD was mostly cloudy and a few clear, so I'll just pull it a few days after the Arise. I also pulled an Arise tester to try in a week or so and I'll pull one from the BD next time I water them in a couple days. Really excited to see how this Winterfrost does during the flush and to get this grow done so I can move to a bigger, better setup. I'm happy with how they both look but the BD is lacking on the smell and is probably going to be a little hairy, while the Arise was pretty amazing there's no big standout with it. I do plan on trying to reveg it, just to see if I can and for the practice, or I might not idk lol. These things are on the home stretch!
Well folks. We're almost there. I checked the trichomes on the Arise and they are beginning to amber while the rest are cloudy, where the BD is sorta cloudy/clear so I'm going to run it a bit longer. I'm going to go ahead and pull the Arise here in a couple days and then do the BD a week or so after. They are definitely yellowing and getting in what they can during the flush and I'm extremely excited to try the Arise. The lemonhead aroma has gone to a gassy side the longer it's grown and it's created an amazing smell and the tester got me lifted. The BD looks alright but just nothing much for the smell, but it yielded more and should smoke just fine!
The Arise got the chop at Day 70. I'd say the trichomes were probably around 10-15% amber, where the rest where cloudy. I went ahead and took it down so I could get it started on the dry process, while the BD finishes off. I have a humidifier in the 2x2 tent I'm drying the plant in that I'm going to run the first few days to slow the dry down here in my dry area. Thanks to all that followed along on this grow. This plant went from smelling like sweet lemonheads to a super gassy lemonheads now. The tester I smoked got me lifted too. I'll get you guys a dry weight and some more pictures when I get this thing trimmed up. Much love everyone!
I just got this plant jarred up, so I'm still waiting to try it, but the smell is very nice and potent. The structure is nice with average sized buds, where it's a little bit leafy, yet still dense. Has a sweet, garlicky, gassy type smell that I think my dispensary coworkers will LOVE.
This was my second Irie Genetics grow and I think I did much better this go around. I ran Sunkiss the first time and had a few issues getting them enough nutrients. While it turned out being pretty good, I still think I could have done better. The Arise on the other hand I did much better on. I had a little underfeeding on the phosphorus, but did better on the base nutrients. Every grow I get a little bit better and I want to thank you all for joining me. I'll give you another update once this thing cures for a couple weeks. The next grow we are going to have a bigger set up, so it will be even better!
