This was a busy week.
We lost an additional seedling this week. Not surprisingly it was the runt that had all of the troubles.
The other seedling was having a rough time but seems to be on track and has a very nice set of lush green leaves coming in. It’s moving slowly but in the right direction.
The direct to soil is crushing. Still no sign of sex yet. It’s a sturdy little thing that I’ll top again soon.
I’ll pop another two beans but maybe something else. Something that I’ll care less about killing. TBD
We added beneficial nematodes at the beginning of the week and after about a day we’ve seen no sign of fungus gnats anywhere in the garden since. Hopefully there’s enough action in my soil to keep those guys around.
I read both Total Living Organics this week and Teaming with Microbes. Both books have given me a new and fuller outlook on organic gardening. The pieces are starting to come together and make sense. Although I have a lot to learn these books are going to be excellent resources for the journey.
I’m working towards building my own soil and recycling the soil that we use.
The first step in that direction for us is composting. We made a bokashi setup this week. We’re using two black buckets and stacking them. The top bucket has holes in the bottom for drainage and a screw top lid to keep it air tight. Hopefully in about a month or two we’ll have some good looking, healthy, fertile compost that I can use for the next run.
That’s the report for this week. ✌️🏼🌱
@Rock_n_Roll_Randy, thank you again! Best quality nugz I’ve gotten from this plant yet. Moving on to other strains but I’ll have some VOG headies for months to come!
@XoticGROW666, I wish I knew. I had to cull one, put one outside to collect pollen, I killed 4 and I have 4 in veg right now. I flowered my last venom og and my most mature AZ together but it turned out to be male so I culled it. I should have some Umami terps soon but just not yet. I’m throwing at least one into flower in about a month. Thanks for checking in bruh and stay tuned for umami terps down the line ✌️🏼🌱
@ThrashedTV_BakedByGlaze,
The sweet basil is in its own pot and we’re growing it as a companion plant. I’ve got white clover going as a cover crop. Cover crops are supposed to be good for soil health and contribute to a healthier food web. So far so good. As for the soil, it’s a combination of two premixed organic grow blends that I amended slightly. It’s working for the time being but I’ll need to keep working on it to dial it in. Thanks for cruisin!
@Itslegalnow, you know, mostly not but sort of.
I had to chop all of this down. Mites got the best of my garden while I was out of town. I tried to get them in check before I left. In my veg tent I did but my flower tent was pretty bad when I returned. I cleaned it out, bleached it, let it sit for 3 weeks, bleached it again, let it sit for three weeks and bleached it again.
I gave most of my clones away but I save. MAC1 and and AZ4. I put those in my flower tent after a couple rounds of topping and they’re like 15 days in now.
I killed the Bokashi experiment. It works. You can make super rich soil in a small urban space. But I don’t have to and I’m not going to anymore 😂
I switched to pots, ditched the beds. Everything is clean and in good working order. If everything goes according to plan I’ll harvest in about 50 days 😎
Sorry for the long answer to the short question bit as you can see, no but yes needed some explaining. That said, I’m happy to chat growing anytime.
Thanks!
Good luck with your grow I hope you get the best taste of buds and healthy plants! Take care and stay lit! I will drop by sometimes to check on your process! Say hello if you ever visit my page!
