Very hungry plant, I found it quite troublesome to grow and it went pretty south about 2 weeks into flower. Still wound up yielding OK and the bud was good, with a lovely cream scent. Don't think I'd bother growing again, however. I would recommend training 100% as she grows really tall.
I've never used any calmag before, my water is quite hard so haven't really needed it, but I had to buy this for this strain. I liked it, it has a relatively low amount on N, so it doesn't mess with my other nutrients too much.
Welcome back for the big finale of the Creme Brulee grow! This plant came down on 63 days from sprout exactly. She could have gone a little longer but was showing amber trichomes and with the state of her, I just wanted to get her down.
>> HARVEST AND TRIM <<
I only trim the largest leaves initially and give each bud a superficial quick trim, leaving all the bud on the stems and then put them into a dry rack for about 7 days at 50% Relative Humidity and 20-22C room temps. After that, I snip from the stems and give them a proper trim, getting them ready for jars. For my drying situation, I find trimming 50% wet and 50% dry like this allows me to stretch out the dry time to a full 7 days and control everything a little easier.
I tend to put them into the jars when they are still a tiny bit damp, you can't feel it in the buds, but you know it's there, but likewise it's not too crispy. I then leave the lids off completely for a further 2-3 days. This just draws out that final stage before the cure and allows me to get them nice and dry without ever going too far, too fast.
>> DRY BUD REPORT <<
I trimmed the buds of the stems after 6 days ready for jarring up. They're definitely not the densest buds, but the smell is actually really nice, sort of a mix between a cream, caramel and slightly spiced nutty vibe. Quite a strong and very sweet, smooth scent.
>> EARLY SMOKE <<
Obviously needs a good cure behind her but the early smoke is very relaxed. I vaped it and the taste was good with a very warm, uplifting high. I didn't smoke enough to really get any strong effect, but just a little test and it seems to do the job. I think it will be on the lighter side, more of a creative, chatty buzz than a heavy hitting couchlocker, but with a nice muscle relaxant side.
>> FINAL THOUGHTS <<
Overall this plant was a bit tricky to grow but I learnt a lot, especially with tracking PPMs in the soil. The plant was ugly as all hell at the end of it all and the yield pretty bang average, even disappointing when you consider the size of her, but hey, you gotta be honest, show the good with the bad and keep learning right? I don't think I'd bother growing it again, but if I did, I'm sure that if I did some training and fed it properly after everything I learnt here, I could pull a good yield. If I ever did grow it again I absolutely would train her fairly heavily and would recommend that route to anyone looking to grow this out in future.
Onwards and upwards, plenty to grow coming up and lots of exciting strains ready to be popped, so we keep going!
@MrHightimes, Cheers man! I've not got any experience with this strain at all, so I'm quite looking forward to seeing how she goes. The random freebies are sometimes the most fun!
@OneDropOfTHC, Thanks a lot man! Absolutely, I try and look at every grow as a learning experience right now, so the easiest ones are not always the best from that perspective!
