Planted seed directly in substrate on 12/30/2020. No nutrients were used from 12/30/2020 thru 1/3/2021. No measurements taken. All water was rested to let chlorine evaporate. Used spray bottle to spritz the coco until top was moist. Watered 4-6 times a day, ~6 sprays per watering. 1/3/21 - Added humidifier to the room. It's on the lowest setting. Maintains ~68% humidity in the tent. Turned on the exhaust fan to keep moisture from building up. Will turn on the circulating fan once the plants have stronger main stem. 1/4/21 - Added a small amount of nutrients. I am using a 16 oz spray bottle, so I divided the manufacturer recommendations by 8 and added that to the spray bottle (.625ml Kelp and Cal-Mag, 1.875 ml of big bloom). 1/5/21 - Increased humidifier output due to humidity being around 45% in the morning (tent was closed for ~7hrs). Plants grew about half inch each in 15 hrs. Added a small circulating fan to the tent, lowest setting. 1/6/21 - Added in General Organics BioThrive Grow to the feed water. Kmintz is measuring at 1.75 inches. Kmintz hasn’t grown much. Main branch is sturdy for both. 1/8/21 - Growth is still good and steady. Not much has changed otherwise. 1/11/21 - Still not much change. New growth is more visible today than last two. Hopefully I see some action this week and move this into veg. Lessons Learned/Things to avoid next time: 1A - Don’t transplant too early. Shocked the seedling too much and stalled growth for 1.5 weeks. Let roots get more established next time. 1B - Plant seed directly in substrate in 7 gallon grow bag or move from solo cup to slightly larger container (maybe 1 gallon), then transplant again. Multiple transplants may add a week into veg overall if transplant timing is right.

When does the vegetative stage start? I assumed it’s a seedling until it gets another set of leaves, but now I’m unsure.

Not quite sure, but imo it starts when the plant grows fan leaves (3 fingered ones) onward.

I need help diagnosing what this was. I already cut off two of the affected leaves on the Kmintz, but other leaves have small amount of the same substance on both plants. The brown spot in the first pic ended up turning into a hole because it was so dry. Is this powdery mildew?

Definitely looks like pm on some of those leaves! Treating the plant for pm is probably your best bet! There are plenty of simple options like the milk weezy suggested. You can also use hydrogen peroxide. Or there are plenty essential oil options. And lastly the most extreme measure a full blown fungicide. Treating this plant now shouldn't be too hard. But make sure to bleach clean yet entire grow space sk no spore is left to re plague ur garden. Also this leads me to believe u dont have enough air movement in your grow. Think about adding oscillating fans to circulate some more air. You need to improve your environment or else this could be a repeat kinda issue. Definitely gets worse when into bloom. You want to get control of ur grow room before flowering thays for sure. Happy growing and stay lit fam.

Hey m8 nice plant choice ;) I saw kmintz claiming top prices in coffeeshops (like 45eur a g.... wtf lol) and it got rated well by urban remo (and ripper seeds seem proud of these genetics) so I had to give it a try aswell! All I can say is very slow veg and short internode distance making LST less easy (more difficult to tie down the branches because they get stiff quickly). I will be starting the flower on mine in approx 14 days, then you can see how much she stretches it might help you plant when to flower! Good luck to you and your plants 👊

@Slurpy_Terpy, Good info on the genetics man! Thanks! I’m growing the Chempie main stem into a low spiral and will let the arms grow up. May HST and prune the arms if needed to keep even canopy during veg. I’ll check out your braincake journal!

@AccyStoner25, I have another friend growing kmintz, also same short internode distance... Mainling note: >I don't tie down the branches often enough for a flat canopy/horizontal growth. If you adjust the tying down every day (or two days) then you can get the branches to go more horizontal and be more efficient. For my lst I am 'lazy' since I have a bit too much time to veg before flowering (my flower room is full, need to wait till they are done which gives me 70-80 days veg and I only need 55-65 days veg depending on the strain - to fill my flower tent) Note on flower stretch for kmintz: So I called the breeder Ripper Seeds to ask how much they expect the kmintz to stretch, explaining my short internode slow veg pheno. They seemed very knowledgeable (not the case for most European breeder client services lol) - basically they say she will stretch 2.5x, and at least 2x in vertical height. This is comforting as I was scared she would go full indica and stretch only 1.5x 😅 So despite the slow vegging we should have more growth in the first 3 weeks of flower 😀 Chempie: ripper seeds description states it is sativa dominant, and 'produces long arms', for as far as I interpret this it means that it will grow much more vigorously than the kmintz in veg (basically like a normal vigorous hybrid) and will stretch 2-3x in flower. The differences in veg growth between the kmintz and chempie will be more pronounced after the first 3 weeks of veg, I suggest you focus the kmintz more on vertical growth and the chempie a bit more lateral so they end up similar height --> something like topping the chempie more often than the kmintz, possibly leaving a bit more side branching on the chempie (and removing most of the side branching on the kmintz) before flipping to flower should help with getting the kmintz to stretch more and the chempie to fatten up a bit more; However personally I find the best way to keep and even canopy height is to tie down the branches every day.... check my Brain Cake journal i made the branches stretch more horizontally by tying down often, this is the easiest/safest (and most time consuming...) way to have a high chance of having an even canopy. Good luck to you m8! My the terpenes be with you... 😀👊👍

@Slurpy_Terpy, Funny you mention the node spacing as that’s what led me to your Kmintz grow. I couldn’t get my wires in for LST and stopped to avoid damaging internodal growth. So I started looking through Kmintz journals and found your main line on Kmintz. I’m gonna do the same now. I have Ripper Seeds Chempie growing at the same time. It’ll be a long veg for the chempie so I should be good on the slow veg for Kmintz. Hopefully I’m not in over my head on my first grow!

@krenoime, Thanks for looking out! I stick my finger in about halfway up my nail to see if it’s dry before spraying. If it is wet, I hold off another hour. My cutoff for watering is two hours before lights turn off. Feeding will be more precise once I get them into the grow pots.
