King and Kong are two Gorilla Cookie autos from Fast Buds. I need to settle down to a two-in-two-out cycle. The previous grow is three 3 gal pots. In order to fit them, King will have to go into a 1 gal and Kong will go into a 3 gal pot. Then after these two I can go to the optimum of two 3 gal pots each time. I have 5 already, but I’ll need 5 more to do a complete perpetual cycle at that size. That’s with two pots in the wash. The other thing I’ve realised in this perpetual system is that I am accounting for 4 grows in a 12 week cycle. But the strains I am buying are tending to be ready at 9-10 weeks. I think it makes sense to keep 12 week’s atm. It means the flowering tent doesn’t get too full as I am removing the previous grow early and giving the next grow more room. If it looks emtpy and there is room I’ll shorten the cycle to 10 weeks. UPDATE: both seeds popped after about 5 days. Direct to substrate is still a very good option. Only ever had two failures when I put them directly into preused soil in the last grow (Three Sisters).

Both seeds popped after 4-5 days. No problems so far. This grow now fills the two tents up with 4 separate grows. The Gorilla I just grew (Perpetual Pie) is short and squat in a 3 gal pot. It hit >1.5oz. Looking forward to seeing the difference between the same strain, same conditions, but different pot sizes with the 3 AND 1 gal pots in this grow. I favour four 3 gal pots in each tent (4 foot square). But I bought the 1 gal pots so I could do SOG with nine of them in each tent. I’m looking for the best return for the size, amount of soil required, amount of feed and ease of keeping it all healthy and free of disease.

Growth is as expected at this stage. Both are seedlings just getting their second true leaves. The first ones with three fingers. Just micro-watering whenever they look dry around the base, maybe 2-3 times a day.

Kong is lagging behind King a bit this week. She is in the bigger 3 gal pot. Maybe I overwatered her? King isn’t that big either. I’ve noticed the Gorilla Cookie does not grow much. It is short and chunky. But both also have some rust spots appearing on a few leaves. Looks like it could be a bit of magnesium deficiency. Overwatering lockout would explain the rust spots too. There is no dust so they aren’t fungus related. Would have thought I would be too experienced to fall for this mistake now. But I really was trying to water as wide as I dared to promote root growth. I see stimulating better root development as my next big challenge. Still plenty of time for the plants to stretch but it looks like this grow needs some attention.

King looks like a good discrete size for a Gorilla Cookie in a 1 gal pot. It is in preflowering. Kong is a runt. She is much smaller than King but in a 3 gal pot. It is frustrating. The overwatering was probably a single watering session. But she is still preflowering so hopefully has a big stretch. Both have been shifted into the flowering tent with the previous grow (Three Sisters). But Kong is going on a stand to lift her up to the light.

The stretch has started on both plants. Kong is growing as well despite her small size. No further issues with either plant. Both well into flowering phase. I’ve been feeding them flowering nutes all week.

I’ve taken Kong off the pedestal and pulled both down with a bit of LST. Both are looking healthy with a good amount of bud sites developing. I’m going to really push the feed on these two. I know the strain can take it. The first Gorilla Cookie I grew (Perpetual Pie) was chunky. But the second one I grew (Three Sisters) was a bit light on bud w. Still very strong though.

King has really stretched a lot. I should have trained her earlier. Maybe a bit of supercropping too. But it has good bud sights. Kong has really grown too which is good. Not much side growth but the main cola is thick. I’ve pulled them both down as much as I dare at this stage. Feeding strong at +1000ppm. Heavy on the flowering nutes.

Both plants looking good. I’ll start flushing this week and start cropping the following at 9 weeks.

King got the chop at 9 weeks. 1oz. That is what I expect from a 1 gal pot. Very strong but young grassy buds. I’ll probably flush Kong for another week then chop her down at 10.

The buds are thick and solid and taste of underlying sweet cookies and an intense earthy pong with some pine highlights. The effect is strong.

I cut King down. She fell behind earlier on after an overwatering incident. So there was only really one main cola with just a few side stems. The buds look good though. Fat, solid and covered in cloudy trichomes, maybe 20% amber. So the quantity was down on what I would expect. 0.8oz. I need to pay the plants more attention than I have been. They both needed better training and feeding. I’m putting more work into the coming grows.
