chopdoc Had a bear of a time trying to get these seeds to open up. I did everything exactly the way CKS said and nothing with two of the seeds. Said screw it and put a fresh seed in some rockwool and 2 days later she was pushin up.
2 days later I pulled up the rockwool from the container and she had roots pushing thru. Planted her in a solo cup with Fox Farms soil. Will put her into a 7 gal grow bag probably early this coming week. .

chopdoc My lil PK girl had a big week. Transplanted her into a big 7 gal grow bag and she got herself a full nutrient feeding. No adverse effects at all from transplanting her, not even a little bit of wilting. Had to put her into the tent thats on a 12/12 light schedule. No room in the other tent for her so she will be in flowering next week.

chopdoc I think the stretching is done! She has a great structure but its a lot more open of a plant than any other strain I have grown. When I grow a strain that I have never grown before I like to let her do her thing and see how the plant develops. This is the first time I have grown Purple Kush but she is telling me a lot. With the structure on her she would have been a great candidate for topping and some low stress training.
Three weeks into flowering and the little buds are looking great. CKS claims 8 to 10 weeks flowering so she has well over a month to go yet. Probably early July is when this grow will be finished.

chopdoc Four full weeks of flowering already. Hard to believe. CKS says their Purple Kush strain takes 8 to 10 weeks of flowering so she is almost halfway done. Found a couple yellowing leaves on her this morning. Plucked them off but that is the first signs of her ageing. Havent seen any yellow leaves up to this point.
This will be my last soil grow for a while. The plan is to let her do her thing and keep an eye on her. After seeing how she grows I would like to one day do a hydro grow with her while doing LST from the very beginning. Right now she has had really zero training. With some LST, maybe a SOG set up and I think she could be a monster producer. But alas it wont be until fall before I get a chance to try out this theory. It is late may and I am having probs keeping the tent temps down so after this grow the tent she is in will be done for about 4 months until the temp comes down outside a bunch. My light schedule runs from 10pm at until 10am and then during the day the lights are off. That helped a lot during spring to keep temps down but this morning right before lights was turned off for the day the tent was 93 at the top and 88 around the base of the plant. Thats a wee bit higher than I like.

chopdoc Today I went back to Fox Farms nutes. The General Organics grow box I tried on a few grows and its lacking. Have a lot left and its going on a shelf. The grow is almost done but maybe some Fox nutes will help the buds a little. This grow I let the plant do her own thing. I knew it wasnt gonna be a big producer but I know how she grows know and next round will do a LST grow in hydro. See if I can get 16 to 20 main colas going before flipping her into flowering.
Seen a bunch of red trichones on the top bud so cut it tonight. The lower ones are not ready yet and will be another few weeks. Using a X60 glass I seen a bunch of them but only on the very top bud. The camera attachment I have for my phone didnt pick up many.
She started drinking a lot more water this week. Usually I give her a quart 5 nights a week but this week, a couple times I had to give her a half gallon. Dont know why but if she needs it, I will give it to her.
I have the tent in a closet and I am running into a lot of problems trying to keep the temp down. Even running the lights only at night its still hitting 88 degrees in there. After this grow I am shutting this tent down until probably October when its cooler. Then i will move the tent to another wall in the room.

chopdoc A week ago I cut the top bud off. Was getting a good bit of red trichones on that one but those under it was still a good ways from ready. This week they have came along real well. The upper buds are getting very close and seeing maybe %5 red trichones now. Want a lil more. Lower buds need more time.
Of the top bud, it weighed 10.2 grams dried and its damn good herb. Instantly my favorite. Hard core couch lock and narcotic buzz. This is top notch buds.

chopdoc Been slowly harvesting her. Around 50 grams of dried buds so far and maybe another 50 grams to harvest. Find it off the buds started making new leaves and looks like its trying to produce a flower. Weird actually lol. The buds still on her still has many white hairs and the trichones are mostly clear so they need more time. Probably another week and she will be finished.
chopdoc Easy growing plant. Grew like a christmas tree. I will be growing this strain again in hydroponics and with some training. Keep the plant in veg a little longer and do some topping, and then scrog it I believe would do this plant good.
I’ve seen so many different phenotypes with the cks purple kush! I have two different ones from this, one looks kind of Sativa if it weren’t for the color.
Looking great! I will be following for sure.
@chopdoc, my landlord just gave me the go ahead to build a raised box for them :) I’m gonna load it up with good organic soil and once they transplant into it I’m gonna start feeding compost tea. Monsters indeed :)
@anahatagardens, have you used Realgrow Recharge? Its a powder supplement for your plants that mixes with water to make a compost tea. What was the selling point on this stuff for me is video's I seen where it was used and the roots seem to be a lot healthier using this stuff. With your grow being long term like your planning might be worth checking out :)
@chopdoc, I’m making mine with vermicompost, molasses, alfalfa meal and fish hydrolysate as well as some fermented clover juice. I want to stick with all natural stuff, nothing that comes pre made. I know there are some good brands making trustworthy stuff, it just makes me feel better knowing exactly what’s going into my plants :)
