Germination
Here we go ladies and gents! Grow number two is underway. We’re kicking off with two auto strains from genetic connoisseurs, Mephisto Genetics. (2) Double Grapes and (2) 3 Bear OGs. Germination lasted from 2/23-2/26. Started germ in glass of water and once they sank and cracked, moved into solos with basic potting mix. Once all sprouted, waited a day and moved into final 5 gallons. Kept sprouts in basic potting surrounded by Fox Farm Ocean Forest. Watered a couple times with 6.5 PH water. Excited for this round with exciting genetics and lessons learned from first grow.

Decided that when all the seeds popped from solo cup potting soil to be Day 1, therefore Day 1 started 2/26, and week 1 ended on 3/4. So weeks will start Friday’s and end Thursdays. And here we go! Week 1 (2/26-3/4) 2/27 moved into 5 gallon fabric pots and watered with 6.5 PH 3/1 light watering 3/4 light watering Noticed that daytime temps are low so added a heater to run a couple hours to bring temps up. Humidity is a little low. Just going to water the first 2-3 weeks since FoxFarm OF is jam packed. I also decided to extend daytime light hours from 18-6 to 20-4.

Week of 3/5-3/11 Not much happening so far, sprouts are continuing to grow. Just watered twice with 6.4-6.5 PH. Likely another week of just water, don’t want to ride them too hard in FFOF soil. 3/7 watered with 6.5 3/10 watered with 6.4 On to the next week!

Week of 3/12 to 3/18 Wow these ladies are growing up! They all 2x-3x in the last week. Gave cal mag nutrients and water earlier in the week once. Trying to do less this time around, fewer waterings, less nutes. 3/14 watered at 6.5 with 3 ML of cal mag for about 2 gallons of water. Bottle says 3-5 per gallon so I did half of the low end dose. Didn’t need all the water so there was decent amount of runoff. The rest of the days, I was monitoring temp. Gets cold at night. But that might be OK with autos, plus the lights on 20 hrs so should be okay. Light is at about 40% power.

Week of 3/19 - 3/25 Good week, girls are getting bigger. Noticing some slight droopage. But so far no nutrient issues, nice healthy green and getting bigger. On to the next week, where I’ll bring in FoxFarm nutrients for first time this grow. 3/19 watered with 6.3PH water, a little less than half gallon each. 3/21 turned up lights to about 40% 3/23 watered with 6.4PH water about a quart each. Didn’t seem like enough but I don’t want to overwater. Noticing droopage in one 3BOG but other gals seem to be fine.

Week of 3/26 - 4/1 Interesting week, noticed pistils for the first time on all plants. I noticed that the plants are needing more and more water as I seem to have underwatered by a day or two. Humidity dropped and some bottom leaves got crispy. But all plants are fine and growing great. 3/26 watered with 6.4 PH, about a half gallon each, with 4ML calmag and 10 ML FF Grow (recommended was 3-5 per gal for cal mag and 10-15 per gal for grow) so I’m not overfeeding. 3/28 this was day unnoticed pistils. Watered at 6.3 and did some leaf tucking. 3/30 LSTd all of them using my binder clip/garden wire combo. Works great I love using these for LST. 4/1, I hadn’t watered for several days at this point and when I checked the ladies I noticed humidity dropped and they were needing water badly. I watered with 6.4 half gal each a lot of drooping. Now that the ladies are picking up growth and larger I’ll be watering more often. Good week overall, only issue was not watering enough but that’s easily fixed. Will be introducing bloom nutes next week and will be watering every 2 days at this point, round about. Let’s go!

Week of 4/2 - 4/8 4/2 adjusted LST 4/3 watered these girls with 6.4PH with 5ml cal mag, 10ml grow, and 10ml big bloom. They were looking a little light green and hungry. Half gallon each, they chugged those two gallons 4/4 light watering because I noticed one was super light and dry again, they had a huge growth and bloom spurt this week so they burned through water. 6.3PH one got a quarter gallon, the others got about two solo cups. I noticed some patching from how dry I’ve been running these girls, super dry, no moisture leaves on bottom of two plants. 4/5, decided that they needed a full watering to counter the dryness, these girls were super thirsty and dry, and the growth had exploded and LST is working great. 2.25 gallons of 6.4 PH water, 6ML cal mag, 30ml of bloom plant food (not the nutrients). Basically cal mag water with plant food. 4/7, continued to LST, defoliate the bottom leaves, they’re really bushing out and flowering, turned up lights to about 75% power. Heat has now become a problem. Moved lights up, added dehumidifer, adjusted fans for ventilation, turned up exhaust. 4/8, watered with 2 gallons of 6.4 water with 5ml cal mag, 10 ml bloom, and 30 ml sticky sweet. Looking forward to seeing more bud development. Going to ease off the LST and will do minor defoliatation. Got some HUGE fan leaves and my LST produced dozens of bud sites so will need to make sure air flow improves and find a way to cool down room and take out nonproducing bottoms.

Week of 4/9 - 4/15 4/11 watered with 2 gallons at 6.3PH noticing that I may need to water more at a time. No runoff. 4/13 watered with 5ml calmag (rec 6-10), 12ml bloom (rec 20-30ml), 10ml sticky sweet, 2 gallons of water 6.2ph 4/14 noticed they were already light and dry. 6ml cal mag, 16 ml bloom in 2 gal, 6.4ph, then about 6ml calmag in 6.3-6.4ph about 3 gallons. Thinking I haven’t been watering enough, haven’t seen run off so decided to water a little extra to get run off. Leaves have been droopy, soil super dry. Overall a good week. Plants look great, some minor droopage and deficiency on one or two leaves but look great. They need more water so I’m going about 3 gallons. Smell is getting stronger. One double grape is FROST OVERLOAD. Like super frosty I can’t wait to see what it looks like in another week. Buds are all fattening up, especially on the 3BOGs. They each have 2-3 super fat colas and about a dozen other tops. I think the LST worked great. They are very leafy but because they’re so short I’m reluctant to defoliate too much. Since they’re scheduled to be done at beginning of May, I’m thinking next week is last week of nutes so I can flush for about two weeks.

Week of 4/16 - 4/22 Wow these girls are looking great and swelling with flowers. No serious issues here. One double grape is a bit ahead of the other and has massive frost production. The 3BOGs each have massive colas forming and really fat bud sites throughout. They all look great so far. Strong smell so kicked the exhaust up a bit. Emptying the dehumidifier everyday now. I believe I am done with nutrients as both harvest dates are first week of May (about a week or two out) but I feel like these girls will push past the dates, except maybe the one double grape. She could be done in two weeks. 4/16 gave 4 gallons of 6.3ph water with a half dosage of nutes so 6ml calmag (12-20), 12ml bloom (40-60), and 10ml of sticky sweet (20-60) 4/18 girls were light again. 4 gallons of 6.3ph water with 12ml calmag, 36 ml of bloom, 35 ml sticky sweet. Almost not enough water! These girls are drinking hard right now. 4/20 Happy 4/20!!! 4/21 12 ml calmag, 40 ml bloom, 40 ml sticky, 4 gallons, 6.3ph. Accidentally watered a half gallon of 5.8ph to one plant but should be ok. I forgot to PH up after adding nutes. Not end of the world but the FFOF tends to lower PH, as noted in runoff. Likely last nutrient feeding of this grow. MAYBE one more. Doubtful I don’t want to push first auto grow. Really looking forward to the next two weeks as we head to the finish line. I expect almost exclusively water at this point and regulating humidity.

Week of 4/23 - 4/29 Overall an easy week. A lot of watering and emptying dehumidifier. But all buds are fattening up. The prize DG is looking so frosty and yummy I cannot wait. The other DG is definitely behind in time and is starting to purple up a bit. Smell is super strong overall. The 3BOG are producing monster colas, will have to break those up in drying. Great week. Looking forward to next week where we should see a harvest. 4/23 4 gallons of 6.3ph water 4/25 4 gallons of 6.4ph water, slight haircut 4/27 4 gallons of 6.3-6.4ph water, noticing color changes and some nute deficiencies as they all wind down 4/29 4 gallons 6.3-6.4ph water

Week of 4/30 - 5/6 Wow what a week! Anticipation was building everyday checking trichomes. Saw some beautiful color changes and leaves depleting nutrients which is great. Next posts will be harvests! 5/2, watered four gallons 6.4PH. Checking trichs the frosty double grape is just about ready. 5/4 another four gallons at 6.3PH. They’re all looking ready. Obviously there are two that are a little ahead but I’m going to put into darkness. 5/5 put ice cubes around all stems and put into darkness. I will be harvesting next!

Last week of 4/30-5/6 5/2 watered 4 gallons 6.4ph water, DG1 is like 80% cloudy, 10 amber 10 clear so it has maybe a day or two before potential darkness then cutting. they’re all looking close 5/4 watered 4 gallons 6.3 ph water, just about harvest for one each. This is the last day of recommended harvest date. 5/5 moved all plants into darkness with ice cubes around the base 5/6 chopped!!! Hung to dry in tent. Need to keep air flow better. Humidity was fine. But air flow could improve. Dried after 8 days. Jarred up. Trimmed and put trim into freezer bags for kief later. Smell is grapey fuel, really strong fuel. One DG ended up super good, frosty, tight buds. The other was a little looser but still frosty and pungent. I will come back with a smoke report after about another week. Overall I loved growing these Autos. The yield was incredible and quality was super high. The frost on the one DG will go down in infamy! 10/10

Harvest from 4/30-5/6 Harvest on 5/6 after a day of full darkness. Noticed white mold on one giant bud that was hanging above fans. Managed to isolate and threw away the affected parts. Everything was fine. Hard lesson for ensuring good air flow during drying. Only lost one top, still yielded about 4.5-5 ounces dry. Smells are great, strong melon and citrus and flowery smells. Strong high, fills head and face and melts body. Great buds!
