You're fine as long as you don't leave too many lower nodes in the plant, if you do they will bush out, but if you can maintain just the top and middle layers then you got them taking all the light to form a structure that stays more compact, or just top em low and they will grow less branches but having just 4 nodes would give you 8 branches wich become really easy to manipulate and make them all get along fine. The less branches you got the bigger the buds will become, but overall you get the same weight as long as you don't stress the plants too much.
With the right training you got people who grow 16 plants in 1m², i've done 9 in a 80x80cm(2.7x2.7), and i didn't even train mine much, it was more of am experience for future reference.
