I was going to wait until tomorrow to pop these "L" testers from Big Tree Cultivars, but there's no time like the present! These are LA Confidential x Robin Williams OG/ Skunkberry. I started them off in 16 oz cups filled with Fox Farms Ocean Forest, and watered them in with declorinated and phed water with Mikro-BW by Soil Microbes. Once they sprout, I'll hit them with some Bloom Roots by
Bloom Yellow Bottles. After about 4 weeks, they will start their Dyna-Gro nutrients. I'm using my Inkbird heating mat and a humidity dome. Let's see what happens!
Lights: sqb1000 by Sunraise
Fabric pots: Opulent Systems
Humidity and Temperature control: IHC-200, ITC-308, & IBS-YH2 by Inkbird.
Backpack sprayer: Petra Tools
Additives: Bloom Roots, Pre, Ultra, Phat and Final. Bloom Yellow Bottles.
Microbial product: Mikro-BW
4 days - 5 have germinated so far.
6 days - 10 have germinated. I'll give it one more day then start counting days for veg.
7 days - one more germinated. 11/12 so far. I removed humidity domes on 10 plants.
This was a fun first week. All 12 plants showed good growth. I had to support to three of the plants to ensure they didn't bend over. It was nothing serious, but I thought it was a prudent move.
I'm not seeing any deformed leaves. All 12 are showing a nice uniform growth. Some are further along than others, but I attribute that to different germination dates; some are just a day or two older than their siblings.
I'm being careful not to overwater them. When I did water them, I added a little Bloom Roots and Dyna Gro KLN. That should promote good root development.
It was fun watching these plants griw strong during their first week of life! I didn't have any problems, and I can't wait to see how they progress.
This was a fun week! Number 12, the last to pop, is still the runt of the grow. That said, these plants are showing good growth and a nice indica structure. I've been careful to water sparingly to avoid drowning them
I've been watering with Mikro -BW. A fairly new product, to promote good roots growth. We'll see how well it works.
I'll most likely uppot next week. I want to get a nice root ball before I transplant, but I want to be sure I don't wait too long and get nutrient deficiencies. I'll play it by ear.
Hi, and welcome back! I see a little nutrient deficiency starting in the Solo cups on some of the plants, so it is time to uppot! I transplanted each of them into their own 1 gal fabric pots. All of them are looking good, with no visible mutations. So far, these girls have been stress free!
This was an eventful week! First, I topped each of the plants. Next, I switched them to a 12/12 light cycle to sex them. I don't want to uppot them again until I cull out all the males. This way, I can determine the females, put them back into 18/6 once sexed, and veg them for a few weeks. Let's see how many girls I get!
This was another eventful week! I was able to identify some of the females and cull a few males. Breakdown is below:
Day 31: Culled males L1 and L10. Verified female L3.
Day 32: Culled male L4. Verified female L5.
Day 35. Culled male L9. Verified female L8.
I started some LST on the verified females, to give them a head start! With 3 girls so far, I'm pretty happy.
Day 36. Verified female L11.
Day 37. Verified female L12. Culled males L2 and L7
After culling the males, I was left with 6 females, which will work fine for my purposes. All females were put back to an 18/6 light cycle, and the males were culled. I plan on vegging a few more weeks before the flip to 12/12.
The girls are looking good after the flip back to 18/6. I'm seeing a lot of lush, green growth, with minimal stretch. I think I'll be flipping these to 12/12 next week. All these testers are showing some nice vigor, and all are pretty uniform in appearance.
Welcome back! I flipped the girls to 12/12 to start the flowering process. They are all lush and green, and it is evident I will have to defoliate soon. A health concern forced me to not take pictures for a few days, but hopefully that is past and I can tend to my garden as I would like to.
I performed a little defoliation mid-week, but they are still fairly bushy. My humidity is pretty high, and I have a feeling that humidity will be a constant battle this grow. Honestly, I fight with keeping the humidity down every grow. lol. Other than that, the week seems to be going nicely.
Humidity..humidity..humidity. I just can't get it down. I have a dehumidifier in the tent, but so far it's not helping much. I'm getting some nice bud sites and I can tell these are going to be some big yielding girls. I'm a bit worried that the high humidity might cause me some problems, but time will tell. See ya next week!
Welcome back to my humidity hell. I just can't set the humidity down to where I want it. I did some more defoliation this week. Perhaps that will help the humidity a bit. These girls grew a bit bigger than I expected, and this may be contributing to my high humidity numbers. Other that that, these girls are stacking up nicely! They continue to have no problems and look healthy!
The humidity is still a concern as these girls continue to stack. I increased water today to about a gallon every three days, which I'm sure will drive the humidity numbers up. I really need to invest in an auto-watering system, lol. So far, I'm happy with these testers. They have been a non-demanding grow with zero problems, so far.
Another steady week. These girls continue to bulk up. Many of her buds are showing some nice genetic foxtailing. I have noticed that some of the leaves only have one or three fans. The humidity continues to be a concern, but at this point I don't think there is much more I can do. I have been leaving the tent open as much as I can and running a de-humidifier, but I'm still having limited success.
These girls are stacking up nicely, and the frost is abundant. Humidity is a little better this week, but I would like to get it under 50%. I don't think that will happen. As far as the plants, they are coming along nicely. The foxtailing is beautiful, and it is apparent these will be some nice buds. They continue to suck up the water and it looks like I will be increasing the amount of water they get very soon.
Hello again! I started the flush this week in anticipation of harvesting in about two weeks. Humidity is still high, and continues to be a concern. As far as the plants go, they are coming along nicely. The buds are big, frosty, and beautiful. They continue to not be demanding, and are growing nicely.
This week was a disaster! I found spider mites on the two plants in the back of the tent. Sadly, I had to chop them in hopes of saving the rest of the harvest. I took them outside and washed them with a three bucket wash. The first bucket had baking soda, the second had some hydrogen peroxide, and the third was plain tap water. I gave them a good wash and set them to dry. I'll most likely use these for edibles. I'm just hoping I don't find any mites on the other plants. I believe humidity played a role in getting the spider mites.
I'm seeing more signs of mites on two other plants, so I am going to end this grow sooner than I would like in order to save what I can. That said, I'm still seeing mostly cloudy trichomes, just not a lot of amber. I usually don't let my grows go too far amber, so this should still be fine. I did get a nice harvest from the first two plants that I chopped. They gave me over 2 oz each, which I'm sure will be just fine for edibles. I put the others into darkness for 24 hours before the chop.

Week 17. Harvest

Happy Harvest Day!
Tester L - Big Tree Cultivators - Custom Breeder & Strain
Up until the attack of the spider mites, this was a fun grow. I would have liked to have let the last four plants go another week or so, but the mites made that impossible. I had trouble with the humidity for almost the entire time these girls were in flower. I'm not saying that the humidity was the cause of the mites, but the high temperatures and humidity were, I'm pretty sure, factors. I will have to try to find a way to lower the humidity more in future grows.
Aside from the humidity, these testers grew fantastic. The were not demanding, and would be great for beginners to grow. The buds were huge, and the overall yield was very good. Looking back, I think I would have defoliated a bit more in early flower, but I was afraid to stunt them by cutting off too much. I seriously doubt, however, that more defoliation would have kept the humidity under 50%, which is where I would have like to have kept it.
As I said, these plants were not demanding in the least. I didn't notice any nutrient deficiencies and, aside from the spider mites, they seemed to be strong plants that were easy to maintain. I would love to grow these again, without the mites, and see what I can do with them.
