smell in tent isn't an issue, unless it is escaping to your room.. few thigns to check..
first, cfm rating of your filter... if blowing too much through it, it won't work as well. turning it down will help
how much carbon was in it to start? this is about quality.. you'd have to compare to other brands and google, beacuse i can't recall how much you should expect in a certain sized filtre off the top of my head.
if it is excaping tent in your room, you may need increased negative pressure to eliminate that problem.
generalyl you pull through the filter inside the tent and exhuast air will be fine. if you have the filter outside (can't tell fro descritpion) that's not optimal and if setup wrong may not even be helping out there.
If the exhuast isn't piped out of the room... you pretty much canot avoid this.. filters are not 100%.. so if 1% of smell comes through, but never piped out of room, it will build up over time.. an equillibrium will be reached and that's the smell you'll have in perpetuity until some relevant factor changes.
