i don't over stress them drying it out...
what i do, just in case it helps but likely does not much, i try to time the last irrigation with my harvest.. my harvest would be around the time i would irrigate, in other words... so maybe a few days early i water early or a tad late to get on that schedule. by that time i know how much it is drinking each day fairly consistently. easy enough to do.
wilt isn't good. don't let it happen. wilt the last 2 hours before you chop it down is likely irrelevant, of course. so, you likely can't damage it too much if oyu let it dry out.
in a very humid environment, maybe this is worthwhile due to drying times? but, if drying times are not an issue for you, i would not overcomplicate this... KISS principle.. keep it simple (stupid) (you aren't stupid, in case you've never heard this acronym before... it's just self-deprecating for a reason and in a general sense for all - this idiom may not be used in other languages/cultures)
