How to flush low release fertilizers?

Hello, I grow some automatic strain with different slow release fertilizers (Aptus Pellets, Jungle Boost One Mix). It's time to flush the strains but what about if it's with some slow release fertilizers? How to do? Giving some water as much as possible to clean the substrate?

Hello. Did you apply the fertilizer to the surface of the soil or mixed it in. If applied to the surface you can spoon off the top inch. The idea of slow release, a bit of the pellet is washed away with the water. If you mixed it in? don't know. Good Luck. Chuck.

@chucky324: Hello, I topped the fertilizer on the surface of the soil. Will try your technique and took the most of the fertilizer on the surface away, even if some of the fertilizer is already in the soil @the9th chevron: Hello, your approach looks good, too. Don't know what could be better...but I will try with 50% with flushing and 50% without to test what seems to be better for the plant and for me. But that case has to be studied of course :-)

Hey there! So, I'm gonna go against everything that you have probably heard and believe in: DON'T FLUSH! I know its sounds crazy, but the science says that flushing is basically useless and can only serve to harm the plant. If you think about it, it makes sense though. How is flushing going to remove salts from the plant? It's not gonna evaporate, it won't leech back into the soil, and the plant can't break it down. It's already a part of the cell structure in your baby. Studies show that smokers prefer the taste of unflushed bud and there is no difference in harshness or smoke. Make your own choice of course, but I don't see a flush benefitting anyone, especially if you have slow release fertz, that will only cause a potential toxicity. Best of luck friend!
