White Bud Tops

Edeplant
Edeplantstarted grow question 4 years ago
Painkiller F36. The upper colas' tops turned white (don't mean the hairs, it's clean white bud parts). I heard this happens when some strains get to close to the light. I don't mind it, but is there any downside to this and do these white parts stay white during drying?

“We’ve had white tips analyzed separately from the green part of the same bud and found they have higher [concentrations of] THC and much higher terpenes than the rest of the plant,” “We were shocked at the ‘white tips’ on our first crop,” said Gress. “We Googled and read that this was damaged, bleached, or burned bud. But they looked so healthy that we didn’t believe it.” https://www.leafly.com/news/growing/white-tips-on-cannabis-buds @Pmal027 @Chucky324 @Mr_Weeds_Autos Bullshitters much?

I have this with my first grow also with new Cobs on my Sugar Gom Automatic. I smoke this but i cannot say now how strong was the effect. You dont must cut this from Plant when you have this.

Light bleaching, very common with LED lighting when plants get to close the light is so intense but with almost no heat it results in this, other lighting like HID would just burn the crap out of the plant tops. Light bleaching looks cool but the bud are useless.

Those hairs are growing inside the calyxes, when calyxes fat enough they might explode and show those white hair explosions late during bloom. Heat or light stress might do that, also cutting or topping a tiny bit of the bud will trigger that. In no way that's lower potency, but you might need to keep the plant flowering a couple of weeks more because those pistils aren't mature. Happy smokes!

Hello. That is burnt plant material and won't turn back to green. If it got so hot to burn the plant, you melted all the thc crystals around that area. If it bothers you , you can cut it of at harvest time. Good Luck. Chuck.

Buds that have been bleached tend to be low potency or even have no potency (no available THC or other cannabinoids). It will change once it's dry but you will be able to tell the difference in appearance from a normal bud. Hopefully I answered your question and remember Happy Growing and Free your mind one puff at a time.
