Still learning lots. I’m at day 18 of Flower and would like some feedback on what’s considered 1/3 of the plant for lollipopping effectively. Do I take the bud sites and fan leaves from everything under 1/3 of the plants total height or do I take bottom third existing foliage?

Every leaf on plant will capture photons of light and store the energy and carbon captured for use later. Every leaf you remove will reduce the total amount of energy that can be captured in a cycle. Lollipopin should be done prior to switch. Sugar leaves, also known as cannabis sugar leaves, are not particularly efficient at photosynthesis compared to the fan leaves on a cannabis plant. The fan leaves, which are the primary sites for photosynthesis, are larger and have a greater surface area to capture sunlight. Sugar leaves are smaller and less efficient at converting light energy into chemical energy through photosynthesis. Greatly diminishes plants ability to perform gas exchange among other process. Best advice for any new grower is just let her grow, watch how she defoliates herself naturally, then next grow you will have a better idea of what it is you are expediting with defoliation.

Your plants look in pretty good shape. I don’t know that you’d get much benefit of any kind if you defoliation at this point. What leaves it has are being well used for photosynthesis.

There are many methods, I always do it by removing large leaves that cover the bigger buds. I also remove small buds and shoots that are clearly not growing and will stay as small as a little popcorn. You have to try to make the plant put all its energy into the big flowers, and then I generally remove everything in the lower third of the plant. This way, there is nice airflow at the bottom. The leaves and flowers there are completely removed since they are pretty sure not to grow. PS the way you did it looks very reasonable already. You can still defoliate in a few days and remove any small mini-buds that you feel are just wasting energy.

There is no exact method here, I tend to leave fan leaves on my stretchier hybrids while taking bottom 1/2 of bud sites but I take it all off my squattier plants like bottom 1/3. IMO, you'll just want to defoliate now. It is a little early for lollipopping, you'd just be depriving the plants of substantial amounts of energy production.
