Thinning the Fan Leaves?

TyrannusTyrannus
TyrannusTyrannusstarted grow question 4 years ago
When (if ever) should I thin out the fan leaves? It's my understanding that removing the majority of the fan leaves will help direct growth towards the buds, but I don't want to do this process too early. The plant is currently outside and in its 7th week of growth.

Defoliate to: Remove dying leaves Remove leaves not getting any light Increase airflow for mold protection To give more light to buds Outside, you dont have to worry about light problems much except at the very bottom of the plant, but if removing one fan leaf will open up an entire bud site, go ahead. Never remove more than 1/3 of your fan leaves at once and remember that the more you can keep, the better off she is.

You can defoil when ever really just don;t go too hard in one go, take a few, leave her a few days, see how she reacts, repeat D
